Interval-valued 2-tuple hesitant fuzzy linguistic term set and its application in multiple attribute decision making
[EN] The hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets can retain the completeness of linguistic information elicitation by assigning a set of possible linguistic terms to a qualitative variable. However, sometimes experts cannot make sure that the objects attain these possible linguistic terms but only provide the degrees of confidence to express their hesitant cognition. Given that the interval numbers can denote the possible membership degrees that an object belongs to a set, it is suitable and convenient to provide an interval-valued index to measure the degree of a linguistic variable to a given hesitant fuzzy linguistic term set. Inspired by this idea, we introduce the concept of interval-valued 2-tuple hesitant fuzzy linguistic term set (IV2THFLTS) based on the interval number and the hesitant fuzzy linguistic term set. Then, we define some interval-valued 2-tuple hesitant fuzzy linguistic aggregation operators. Afterwards, to overcome the instability of subjective weights, we propose a method to compute the weights of attributes. For the convenience of application, a method is given to solve the multiple attribute decision making problems with IV2THFLTSs. A hesitant fuzzy SMART method based on a new score function for information literacy assessment of teachers
As two powerful and flexible tools for decision-makers (DMs) to
model the complex cognition, the hesitant fuzzy set (HFS) and
hesitant fuzzy linguistic term set (HFLTS) allow DMs to express
their opinions with several possible membership values or linguistic
terms on the objects over each criterion. The aim of this article
is to develop a novel score function of the HFS and HFLTS including
hesitant degree and fuzzy degree information. For this purpose,
the notion of fuzzy degree of the hesitant fuzzy element
(HFE) and hesitant fuzzy linguistic element (HFLE) is introduced
first. Then, considering both the hesitant degree and fuzzy degree
information in expressions, the new score function, namely the
Score-H&FD, is designed. Based on which, we extend the classical
SMART (simple multi-attribute rating technique) method to the
hesitant fuzzy environment. As a result, the hesitant fuzzy SMART
(HF-SMART) method is developed in this article. Afterwards, we
apply our proposed approach to assess and rank several teachers
concerning information literacy. Finally, sensitive analysis and
comparative analysis are carried out. The results show that the

A contribution to consensus modeling in decision-making by means of linguistic assessments
Decision-making is an active field of research. Specifically, in recent times, a lot of contributions have been presented on decision-making under linguistic assessments. To tackle this kind of processes, hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets have been introduced to grasp the uncertainty inherent in human reasoning when expressing preferences. This thesis introduces an extension of the set of hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets to capture differences between non-compatible assessments. Based on this extension, a distance between linguistic assessments is defined to quantify differences between several opinions. This distance is used in turn to present a representative opinion from a group in a decision-making process. In addition, different consensus measures are introduced to determine the level of agreement or disagreement within a decision-making group and are used to define a decision maker’s profile to keep track of their dissension with respect to the group as well as their level of hesitancy. Furthermore, with the aim of allowing decision makers to choose the linguistic terms that they feel more comfortable with, the concept of free double hierarchy hesitant fuzzy linguistic term set is developed in this thesis. Finally, a new approach of the TOPSIS methodology for processes in which the assessments are given by means of free double hierarchy hesitant fuzzy information is presented to rank alternatives under these circumstances.Postprint (published version
Pairwise Comparison and Distance Measure of Hesitant Fuzzy Linguistic Term Sets
A hesitant fuzzy linguistic term set (HFLTS), allowing experts using several possible linguistic terms to assess a qualitative linguistic variable, is very useful to express people’s hesitancy in practical decision-making problems. Up to now, a little research has been done on the comparison and distance measure of HFLTSs. In this paper, we present a comparison method for HFLTSs based on pairwise comparisons of each linguistic term in the two HFLTSs. Then, a distance measure method based on the pairwise comparison matrix of HFLTSs is proposed, and we prove that this distance is equal to the distance of the average values of HFLTSs, which makes the distance measure much more simple. Finally, the pairwise comparison and distance measure methods are utilized to develop two multicriteria decision-making approaches under hesitant fuzzy linguistic environments. The results analysis shows that our methods in this paper are more reasonable

A Hesitant Fuzzy Linguistic Multicriteria Decision-Making Method with Interactive Criteria and Its Application to Renewable Energy Projects Selection
A variety of multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) methods for renewable energy projects evaluation have been proposed, of which the premise of using these methods is to assume that the criteria are independent of each other. However, it may be difficult or costly to build independent criteria set in some cases because renewable energy planning is to pursue a balance of economic, social, and environmental goals, which makes the existence of interaction among criteria be of great possibility. In this paper, we consider a highly ambiguous decision situation, where the experts are allowed to give the evaluations in the form of hesitant fuzzy linguistic terms set (HFLTS). We build a hesitant fuzzy linguistic decision-making model handling the interaction among criteria from the perspective of distance measure and apply it to renewable energy projects selection. The proposed method can consider more fuzzy factors and deal with the interaction among criteria more approximately. It can reduce the decision pressure and improve the decision-making efficiency because the decision makers are allowed to express their preference in form of HFLTS and a decision criteria set of which the criteria are independent of each other is not necessary
On fuzzy-qualitative descriptions and entropy
This paper models the assessments of a group of experts when evaluating different magnitudes, features or objects by using linguistic descriptions. A new general representation of linguistic descriptions is provided by unifying ordinal and fuzzy perspectives. Fuzzy qualitative labels are proposed as a generalization of the concept of qualitative labels over a well-ordered set. A lattice structure is established in the set of fuzzy-qualitative labels to enable the introduction of fuzzy-qualitative descriptions as L-fuzzy sets. A theorem is given that characterizes finite fuzzy partitions using fuzzy-qualitative labels, the cores and supports of which are qualitative labels. This theorem leads to a mathematical justification for commonly-used fuzzy partitions of real intervals via trapezoidal fuzzy sets. The information of a fuzzy-qualitative label is defined using a measure of specificity, in order to introduce the entropy of fuzzy-qualitative descriptions. (C) 2016 Elsevier Inc. Uncertainty Measures of Extended Hesitant Fuzzy Linguistic Term Sets
A hesitant fuzzy linguistic term set (HFLTS) is defined as a subset of ordered consecutive linguistic terms, and it has been successfully applied to deal with experts hesitation in decision-making problems when experts have to provide their assessments. This concept has been recently extended to manage ordered consecutive and nonconsecutive linguistic terms, called extendedHFLTS (EHFLTS), which is used in linguistic
group decision-making problems to represent the group opinion without loss of information. This paper is focused on studying how to measure the uncertainty presented by the information of an EHFLTS and also of an HFLTS. To do so, a new comprehensive entropy measure for EHFLTSs, which considers two types of uncertainty, fuzziness and hesitation, is proposed. The constructionmethods of the two types of entropy are studied and a comprehensive entropy formula is defined.
