Overview of the Systems Special Investigation Group investigation
The Long Duration Exposure Facility (LDEF) carried a remarkable variety of electrical, mechanical, thermal, and optical systems, subsystems, and components. Nineteen of the fifty-seven experiments flown on LDEF contained functional systems that were active on-orbit. Almost all of the other experiments possessed at least a few specific components of interest to the Systems Special Investigation Group (Systems SIG), such as adhesives, seals, fasteners, optical components, and thermal blankets. Almost all top level functional testing of the active LDEF and experiment systems has been completed. Failure analysis of both LDEF hardware and individual experiments that failed to perform as designed has also been completed. Testing of system components and experimenter hardware of interest to the Systems SIG is ongoing. All available testing and analysis results were collected and integrated by the Systems SIG. An overview of our findings is provided. An LDEF Optical Experiment Database containing information for all 29 optical related experiments is also discussed
Maternal Pertussis Immunization and Immunoglobulin G Levels in Early- to Late-Term and Preterm Infants
Importance: Maternal tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination protects newborns against severe pertussis. Data on transplacental antibody transfer on Tdap vaccination before 24 weeks' gestation remain scarce and are particularly relevant for preterm infants to increase the time interval for maternal antibody transfer. Objective: To assess noninferiority of anti-pertussis toxin (anti-PT) immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibody levels at age 2 months in early- to late-term infants following Tdap vaccination between 20 0/7 and 24 0/7 weeks' gestation compared with 30 0/7 and 33 0/7 weeks' gestation and compared with preterm infants. Design, Setting, and Participants: This prospective, multicenter cohort study included pregnant women aged 18 years or older in birthing centers and hospitals in the Netherlands between August 2019 and November 2021 who received Tdap vaccination between 20 0/7 and 24 0/7 weeks' gestation. Women with imminent premature birth were recruited if they had received maternal Tdap vaccination between 20 and 24 weeks' gestation. Blood samples were collected from mothers at delivery, from the umbilical cord, and from infants at age 2 months. Data from infants' blood samples at age 2 months were compared with a reference cohort (recruited between January 2014 and February 2016) of early- to late-term infants of the same age whose mothers had received Tdap vaccination between 30 0/7 and 33 0/7 weeks' gestation. Exposure: Maternal Tdap vaccination between 20 0/7 and 24 0/7 weeks' gestation or 30 0/7 and 33 0/7 weeks' gestation. Main Outcomes and Measures: The primary outcome was the geometric mean concentration (GMC) of anti-PT IgG antibodies in early- to late-term infants (â„37 0/7 weeks' gestation) at age 2 months, comparing maternal Tdap vaccination between 20 0/7 and 24 0/7 weeks' vs 30 0/7 and 33 0/7 weeks' gestation (reference cohort). Anti-PT GMC in 2-month-old infants born preterm (<35 0/7 weeks' gestation) compared with early- to late-term infants after maternal Tdap vaccination between 20 and 24 weeks' gestation was a secondary outcome. Results: In total, 221 women who delivered 239 offspring were enrolled in the study; 66 early- to late-term infants (median gestational age [GA], 40.6 weeks [IQR, 39.8-41.0 weeks]; 38 [57.6%] male) and 73 preterm infants (median GA, 32.1 weeks [IQR, 29.5-33.0 weeks]; 42 [54.5%] female) had blood samples collected at 2 months of age. Anti-PT GMC was 14.7 IU/mL (95% CI, 10.6-20.4 IU/mL) in early- to late-term infants following maternal Tdap vaccination between 20 0/7 and 24 0/7 weeks' gestation compared with 27.3 IU/mL (95% CI, 20.1-37.1 IU/mL) in 55 infants in the reference group (median GA, 40.3 [IQR, 39.1-41.0]; 33 [60.0%] female). The mean anti-PT GMC in preterm infants in the study group was 11.2 IU/mL (95% CI, 8.1-15.3 IU/mL) (P =.23 compared with early- to late-term infants). Conclusions and Relevance: In this cohort study, 2-month-old preterm and early- to late-term infants showed significantly lower anti-PT antibody levels following maternal Tdap vaccination between 20 0/7 and 24 0/7 weeks' gestation compared with 30 0/7 and 33 0/7 weeks' gestation; preterm and early- to late-term infants had similar anti-PT antibody levels, but both groups showed significantly lower antibody levels compared with the reference group. Epidemiological research should investigate whether maternal Tdap vaccination before 24 weeks' gestation provides sufficient protection against clinical pertussis, particularly in preterm infants, as long as no correlate of protection is available
The Influence of Group Investigation Learning Model on College Students Learning Motivation Towards Environment Education
This study aims to analyze the influence of group investigation (GI) model on learning motivation of Student Environmental Education. This type of research is quasi experiment with non equivalent control group posttest only design. Research subjects consist of 2 semester students (2 classes) selected based on the value of Middle Semester Exam (UTS) odd semester of academic year 2017-2018 which has the average value is almost the same (homogeneous). The control class uses lecture and discussion models, while the experimental class uses the GI model. The instrument used to measure learning motivation is A Manual for the Use of the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) developed by Pintrich et al. Further data obtained were analyzed by using Independent Sample T-Test Test with the help of SPSS 16.0 for Windows program. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant influence of GI model on the motivation to learn the environment of mahMahasiswa. It was based on the analysis results of the Independent Sample T-Test Test that showed the p-level 0.000. The p-level value is less than 0.05 (p <0.05).

An investigation into students' perceptions of group assignments
The collection of student feedback is a central strategy to monitor the effectiveness of teaching and learning at educational institutions (Meyer, 2010). This paper analyses the feedback and findings from a recent questionnaire survey of students' experience and perceptions of group work at the University of Bedfordshire at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The main objective of this study is to raise practical issues that teachers need to consider in designing and carrying out group assessments. This is aimed at overcoming the drawbacks, while amplifying the benefits, of group work, and improving students' engagement and performance in this type of assessment

A genome-wide association study suggests contrasting associations in ACPA-positive versus ACPA-negative rheumatoid arthritis.
BackgroundRheumatoid arthritis (RA) can be divided into two major subsets based on the presence or absence of antibodies to citrullinated peptide antigens (ACPA). Until now, data from genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have only been published from ACPA-positive subsets of RA or from studies that have not separated the two subsets. The aim of the current study is to provide and compare GWAS data for both subsets. Methods and resultsGWAS using the Illumina 300K chip was performed for 774 ACPA-negative patients with RA, 1147 ACPA-positive patients with RA and 1079 controls from the Swedish population-based case-control study EIRA. Imputation was performed which allowed comparisons using 1,723,056 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). No SNP achieved genome-wide significance (2.9 Ă 10â»âž) in the comparison between ACPA-negative RA and controls. A case-case association study was then performed between ACPA-negative and ACPA-positive RA groups. The major difference in this analysis was in the HLA region where 768 HLA SNPs passed the threshold for genome-wide significance whereas additional contrasting SNPs did not reach genome-wide significance. However, one SNP close to the RPS12P4 locus in chromosome 2 reached a p value of 2 Ă 10ⶠand this locus can thus be considered as a tentative candidate locus for ACPA-negative RA.ConclusionsACPA-positive and ACPA-negative RA display significant risk allele frequency differences which are mainly confined to the HLA region. The data provide further support for distinct genetic aetiologies of RA subsets and emphasise the need to consider them separately in genetic as well as functional studies of this disease
Investigation of the New Local Group Galaxy VV 124
We present the results of our stellar photometry and spectroscopy for the new
Local Group galaxy VV 124 (UGC 4879) obtained with the 6-m BTA telescope. The
presence of a few bright supergiants in the galaxy indicates that the current
star formation process is weak. The apparent distribution of stars with
different ages in VV 124 does not differ from the analogous distributions of
stars in irregular galaxies, but the ratio of the numbers of young and old
stars indicates that VV 124 belongs to the rare Irr/Sph type of galaxies. The
old stars (red giants) form the most extended structure, a thick disk with an
exponential decrease in the star number density to the edge. Definitely, the
young population unresolvable in images makes a great contribution to the
background emission from the central galactic regions. The presence of young
stars is also confirmed by the [O III] emission line visible in the spectra
that belongs to extensive diffuse galactic regions. The mean radial velocity of
several components (two bright supergiants, the unresolvable stellar
population, and the diffuse gas) is v_h = -70+/-15 km/s and the velocity with
which VV 124 falls into the Local Group is v_LG = -12+/-15 km/s. We confirm the
distance to the galaxy D = 1.1+/-0.1 Mpc and the metallicity of red giants
([Fe/H] = -1.37) found by Kopylov et al. (2008).VV 124 is located on the
periphery of the Local Group approximately at the same distance from M 31 and
our Galaxy and is isolated from other galaxies. The galaxy LeoA nearest to it
is 0.5 Mpc away.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures. Accepted for publication in Astronomy Letters
