    Innovation plays pivotal role in whole business competition, while small firms in developing economies face challenging issue to invest in innovation. The research aims to examine the impact of innovation success as mediator variables on relationship among entrepreneurial orientation, human capital, social capital and firm performance.Hence, this research wants to contribute to the literature of product development management. With independent variables of entrepreneurial orientation, human capital and social capital, the research employs sample of small and medium enterprise from Malaysia and Indonesia.Through employed innovation success as moderator variable, the research indicates positive relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance. However, the evident highlights negative relationship between human capital and firm performance as well as social capital and firm performance

    The paper analyses the entrepreneurial orientation – philanthropy link in small and medium size enterprises (SMEs). We find that SMEs that score highest on entrepreneurial orientation construct, those that have foreign owners, and those that are larger, are also most likely to declare their commitment to philanthropy. Our results are based on confirmatory factor analysis combined with regression analysis, using a representative survey of SMEs from Lithuania. Our findings that the most entrepreneurial firms are alsothe ones most involved in philanthropy shed light on the micro foundations of the model of development that emphasises consistency between the business initiative and the social initiative.philanthropy; entrepreneurial orientation; SME; foreign ownership; slack resources; Lithuania;

    Entrepreneurial Orientation as a main Resource and Capability on Small Firm’s Growth

    This research provides a useful framework for identifying a small firms’ propensity to engage in entrepreneurial orientation. We examine the impact of the Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) as a main resource and capability on small firm' growth. The growth seems to come out as an important demonstration of the entrepreneurial orientation of small firms (Davidsson, 1989; Green and Brown, 1997; Janney and Gregory, 2006). Thus, this research builds on prior conceptual research that suggests a positive integration between entrepreneurial orientation and resource-based view. In the first instance, the research will focus on reviewing literature in the emerging area of entrepreneurial orientation as it applies to growth oriented small firms and resource-based view of the firm. Secondly, an empirical study was developed based on a stratified sample of small firms of manufacturing industry. Data were submitted to a multivariate statistical analysis and a linear regression model was performed in order to predict the influence of the resources and capabilities on small firms' growth. In this sense, we consider the construct growth as a dependent variable and the ones relates with resources and capabilities (entrepreneur resources, firm resources, networks and EO) as independent variables. The research results suggest a set of resources and capabilities that promote the growth of the small firms. Also, the EO seems to have a predictive value on growth. Explaining variables related with resources and capabilities and EO were identified as essential in growth oriented small firms. It was still possible to conclude that the entrepreneurial firms which grew seem to have resources and develop more capabilities and take advantage in the search for those competences. This attitude reflects on the EO of the firm. This study has important implication for both researchers and practitioners. It highlights the necessity of firms to develop superior EO of all their members and also to invest on better resources and consequently superior capabilities as a way of reaching higher levels of growth. While previous authors have attempted to analyse certain aspects of this process (linkage between entrepreneurial orientation and growth), this research developed a framework that combines these and others factors (resource-based view) pertinent to growth oriented small firms. The results support the necessity to identify explicative variables of multiple levels to explain the growth of small firms. The adoption of an entrepreneurial orientation as an indispensable variable to the growth oriented small firms seems pertinent.Resources-Based View, Entrepreneurial orientation, Growth of Small Firms

    Entrepreneurial Orientation is part of the Enterprise. This is part of the entrepreneurial process. Entrepreneurial Orientation understand the phenomenon as one of the strengths of the organization to improve the course of the process can foster entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial behavior patterns are applied to maintain the business. Furthermore, entrepreneurial orientation can explain the overall picture of entrepreneurial activity by providing knowledge about the various dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation. There are five dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation is Inovativeness, proactiveness, risk taking (Miller, 1983), Autonomy Orientation and Competitive aggressiveness (Lumpkin & Dess, 1996). Based on extensive literature review and collection of empirical evidence, this study examines the extent to which small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the city of Pasuruan and apply the concept of entrepreneurial orientation. In addition, this study explores the dominant factors in the entrepreneurial orientation that is applied to SMEs in Pasuruan. and as research that is confirmatory factor analysis on the opinion of Lumpkin and Dess (1996) which states all the factors in the entrepreneurial orientation possibility is present in a business organization, but not all factors are sometimes applied in business organizations, there are some things that are optimized to be a priority

    Multidimensionality of Entrepreneurial Firm-level Processes: Do the Dimensions Covary?

    Covariance (or not) among the first-order dimensions of firm-level entrepreneurial processes underpins a fundamental and non-trivial difference between the entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurial posture constructs. Utilizing a typology developed for multi-dimensional constructs, we operationalized each construct according to its specific conceptualization (relationships among the dimensions) and compared and contrasted each construct in an identical nomological network. Although we found support for both theories, the entrepreneurial orientation construct was more robust in explaining additional variance in growth. Additionally, our findings suggest that the means through which the first-order dimensions are operationalized—latent vs. summates— significantly affect the analysis

    La orientación emprendedora es susceptible de tener un impacto positivo sobre el desempeño de la empresa. Sin embargo, empíricamente esta relación directa no es completamente consistente. Proponemos el desempeño innovador como una variable intermedia y, además, argumentamos que la relación entre orientación emprendedora y desempeño innovador no es incondicional, sino dependiente de la capacidad de aprendizaje organizativo. Utilizamos modelos de ecuaciones estructurales para contrastar nuestras hipótesis sobre la industria cerámica italiana y española. Los resultados sugieren que (1) el desempeño innovador actúa como una variable mediadora entre la orientación emprendedora y el desempeño de la empresa; (2) la orientación emprendedora puede ser considerada como un antecedente de la capacidad de aprendizaje organizativo; y (3) la capacidad de aprendizaje organizativo juega un papel importante en la determinación de los efectos de la orientación emprendedora sobre el desempeño. Finalmente, señalamos las limitaciones del estudio y proponemos futuras líneas de investigación. Entrepreneurial orientation is considered to have a positive impact on firm performance. However, this direct relationship does not seem to be empirically conclusive. In our research we consider innovation performance as an intermediate variable, and explain that the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and innovation performance is not unconditional, but subject to organizational learning capability. Structural equation modeling has been used to test our research hypotheses on a data set from the Italian and Spanish ceramic tile industry. Results suggest that (1) innovation performance acts as a mediating variable between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance; (2) entrepreneurial orientation can be considered as an antecedent of organizational learning capability; and (3) organizational learning capability plays a significant role in determining the effects of entrepreneurial orientation on innovation performance. Finally, we highlight our study¿s limitations and we posit avenues for future research.Entrepreneurial orientation, organizational learning capability, performance.
