    The asymmetric synthesis of new chiral gamma-chloro-alpha,beta-diaminocarboxylamide derivatives by highly diastereoselective Mannich-type reactions of N-(diphenylmethylene) glycinamides across chiral alpha-chloro-N-p-toluenesulfinylaldimines was developed. The resulting (S-S,2S,3S)-gamma-chloro-alpha,beta-diaminocarboxylamides were formed with the opposite enantiotopic face selectivity as compared to the (S-S,2R,3R)-gamma-chloro-alpha,beta-diaminocarboxyl esters obtained via Mannich-type addition of analogous N-(diphenylmethylene) glycine esters across a chiral alpha-chloro-N-p-toluenesulfinylaldimine. Selective deprotection under different acidic reaction conditions and ring closure of the gamma-chloro-alpha,beta-diaminocarboxylamides was optimized, which resulted in N-alpha-deprotected syn-gamma-chloro-alpha,beta-diaminocarboxylamides, N-sulfinyl-beta,gamma-aziridino-alpha-aminocarboxylamide derivatives, a trans-imidazolidine, and an N-alpha,N-beta-deprotected syn-gamma-chloro-alpha,beta-diaminocarboxylamide

    The present invention relates to film and coating materials prepared from novel fluorinated poly(phenylene ether ketones). A fluorinated poly(phenylene ether ketone) is prepared by reacting a bisphenol with 1,1,1,3,3,3 hexafluoro-2,2-bis 4-(4-halobenzoyl) phenyl propane (wherein halo is fluoro or chloro), which is a novel monomer formed as the reaction product of halobenzene (wherein halo is fluoro or chloro) and 1,1,1,3,3,3 hexafluoro-2,2-bis (p-chloro formyl phenyl) propane. Especially beneficial results of this invention are that films and coating materials prepared from the novel fluorinated poly(phenylene ether ketone) are essentially optically transparent/colorless and have a lower dielectric constant than otherwise comparable, commercially available poly(phenylene ether ketones). Moreover, unlike the otherwise comparable commercially available materials, the novel fluorinated poly(phenylene ether ketones) of the present invention can be solution cast or sprayed to produce the films and coatings. Furthermore, the long term thermal stability of the polymers of the present invention is superior to that of the commercially available materials

    Phosphonopeptides Revisited, in an Era of Increasing Antimicrobial Resistance

    Given the increase in resistance to antibacterial agents, there is an urgent need for the development of new agents with novel modes of action. As an interim solution, it is also prudent to reinvestigate old or abandoned antibacterial compounds to assess their efficacy in the context of widespread resistance to conventional agents. In the 1970s, much work was performed on the development of peptide mimetics, exemplified by the phosphonopeptide, alafosfalin. We investigated the activity of alafosfalin, di-alanyl fosfalin and β-chloro-L-alanyl-β-chloro-L-alanine against 297 bacterial isolates, including carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales (CPE) (n = 128), methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) (n = 37) and glycopeptide-resistant enterococci (GRE) (n = 43). The interaction of alafosfalin with meropenem was also examined against 20 isolates of CPE. The MIC50 and MIC90 of alafosfalin for CPE were 1 mg/L and 4 mg/L, respectively and alafosfalin acted synergistically when combined with meropenem against 16 of 20 isolates of CPE. Di-alanyl fosfalin showed potent activity against glycopeptide-resistant isolates of Enterococcus faecalis (MIC90; 0.5 mg/L) and Enterococcus faecium (MIC90; 2 mg/L). Alafosfalin was only moderately active against MRSA (MIC90; 8 mg/L), whereas β-chloro-L-alanyl-β-chloro-L-alanine was slightly more active (MIC90; 4 mg/L). This study shows that phosphonopeptides, including alafosfalin, may have a therapeutic role to play in an era of increasing antibacterial resistance

    ABSTRACT Employee retention helps companies in managing qualified employees to stay in the company by motivating and encouraging them to contribute optimally, during a long period of work. This study aims to examine and identify the effect of Talent Management, and Work-Life Balance on Employee Retention, with the mediating by Organizational Support. This research uses a survey strategy and the data collection by distributing questionnaires to PT. Bank SulutGo employees as respondents. The hypothesis test was conducted by using SPSS with multi linear regression approach and the results of this study indicate that: 1. Talent Management affects Employee Retention; 2. Work-Life Balance does not affect Employee Retention; 3. Organizational Support affects Employee Retention; 4. Talent Management affects Organizational Support; 5. Organizational Support mediates the relationship between Talent Management and Employee Retention; 6. Work-Life Balance affects Organizational Support; 7. Organizational Support mediates the relationship between Work-Life Balance and Employee Retention. This study concludes that Talent Management and Organizational Support affect employee retention, while Work-Life Balance does not affect employee retention. Other conclusions also show that Organizational Support can act as a mediator in the relationship between Talent Management and Employee Retention and the relationship between Work-Life Balance and Employee Retention. Keywords: employee retention; talent management; work-life balance; organizational support.   ABSTRAK Retensi karyawan dapat membantu perusahaan dalam mengelola karyawan yang berkualitas sehingga karyawan yang ada tidak meninggalkan perusahaan dengan mendorong karyawan agar dapat secara optimal berkontribusi, dalam periode kerja yang lama. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji dan mengidentifikasi pengaruh dari Talent Management, Work-Life Balance terhadap Retensi Karyawan yang dimediasi oleh Dukungan Organisasi. Penelitian dilakukan dengan strategi survei dan pengumpulan data dengan membagikan kuisioner pada karyawan PT. Bank SulutGo sebagai responden. Pengujian hipotesis penelitian ini menggunakan aplikasi SPSS dengan pendekatan regresi liner berganda dan hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan: 1. Talent Management berpengaruh terhadap Retensi Karyawan; 2. Work-Life Balance tidak berpengaruh terhadap Retensi Karyawan; 3. Dukungan Organisasi berpengaruh terhadap Retensi Karyawan; 4. Talent Management berpengaruh terhadap Dukungan Organisasi; 5. Dukungan Organisasi memediasi hubungan antara Talent Management dengan Retensi Karyawan; 6. Work-Life Balance berpengaruh terhadap Dukungan Organisasi; 7. Dukungan Organisasi memediasi hubungan antara Work-Life Balance dengan Retensi Karyawan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah Talent Management dan Dukungan Organisasi berpengaruh terhadap Retensi Karyawan, sedangkan Work-Life Balance tidak berpengaruh terhadap retensi karyawan. Kesimpulan lainnya juga menunjukkan Dukungan Organisasi dapat berperan sebagai mediator terhadap hubungan antara Talent Management dan Retensi Karyawan dan dalam hubungan antara Work-Life Balance dan Retensi Karyawan.     Analysis of chlorinated, sulfochlorinated and sulfonamide derivatives of n-tetradecane by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry

    The photosulfochlorination of n-tetradecane by sulfuryl chloride leads to a reaction mixture containing unreacted n-tetradecane, chloro n-tetradecanes and n-tetradecanesulfonyl chlorides. Direct and simultaneousGCanalysis of the mixture of the sulfochlorinated and chlorinated isomers is followed by mass spectrometry identification of all the components either by electron impact (EI-MS) and by negative and positive chemical ionisation (NCI-MS and PCI-MS). With the goal of performing an accurate quantitative GC analysis, and as n-tetradecanesulfonyl chlorides prone to degrade partially into the corresponding chlorides, the former are converted to N,N-diethylsufonamides, more stable thermally, and then analysed by GC/EI-MS and GC/PCI-MS. The chloro n-tetradecanes, sulfonylchlorides and sulfonamides spectra present strong similarities. However, some differences between terminal and internal isomers are noticed and the peculiar behaviour of sulfonamides is emphasized
