Dirichlet series and approximate analytical method for the solution of mhd boundary layer flow of casson fluid over a stretching/shrinking sheet

    Get PDF
The paper presents analytical and semi-numerical solution for magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer flow of Casson fluid over a exponentially permeable shrinking sheet. The governing partial differential equations of momentum equations are reduced to ordinary differential equations by using a classical similarity transformation along with appropriate boundary conditions. Both nonlinearity and infinite interval demand novel mathematical tools for their analysis. We use fast converging Dirichlet series and approximate analytical solution by the Method of stretching of variables for the solution of the nonlinear differential equation. These methods have the advantages over pure numerical methods for obtaining the derived quantities accurately for various values of the parameters involved at a stretch and also they are valid in much larger parameter domain as compared with HAM, HPM, ADM and the classical numerical schemes.Publisher's Versio

A multigrid method for EHL line contact problem with Grease as lubricant

    Get PDF
The paper presents an isothermal Elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) of line contact problem with grease as a lubricant, described by Herschel-Bulkley model. The simulation of the governing problem is analyzed using Multigrid method with full approximation scheme (FAS) for varying load, speed and rheological index n Herschel-Bulkley model. The EHL problem considered comprises of Reynolds equation and film thickness understudy for different parameters of interest. The minimum film thickness and pressure spike decrease with a decrease in rheological index n. The present paper traces out the comparison of minimum film thickness with the standard results of Dowson and Higginson. The results obtained are comparable and are presented in terms of graphs and tables

Coexistence of chancroid and donovanosis in HIV with low CD4 count: a rare case

Genital ulceration as a syndrome has been associated with increased transmission of HIV. The purpose of the present study is to establish skin diseases as clinical indicators of underlying immune status and help in clinical monitoring by estimating and correlating with low CD4 count. This study concludes that, cutaneous manifestations can be considered as good clinical indicators to predict and assess the underlying immune status and reviews the need to be aware of this entity

Soybean leaf disease detection and severity measurement using multiclass SVM and KNN classifier

    Get PDF
Soybean fungal diseases such as Blight, Frogeye leaf spot and Brown Spot are a significant threat to soybean plant due to the severe symptoms and lack of treatments. Traditional diagnosis of the thease diseases relies on disease symptom identification based on neaked eye observation by pathalogiest, which can lead to a high rate of false-recognition. This work present a novel system, utilizing multiclass support vector machine and KNN classifiers, for detection and classification of soybean diseases using color images of diseased leaf samples. Images of healthy and diseased leaves affected by Blight, Frogeye leaf spot and Brown Spot were acquired by a digital camera. The acquired images are preprocessed using image enhancement techniques. The background of each image was removed by a thresholding method and the Region of Interest (ROI) is obtained. Color-based segmentation technique based on K-means clustering is applied to the region of interest for partitioning the diseased region. The severity of disease is estimated by quantifying a number of pixels in the diseased region and in total leaf region. Different color features of segmented diseased leaf region were extracted using RGB color space and texture features were extracted using Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix (GLCM) to compose a feature database. Finally, the support vector machine (SVM) and K-Nearest Negbiour (KNN) classifiers are used for classifying the disease. This proposed classifers system is capable to classify the types of blight, brown spot, frogeye leaf spot diseases and Healthy samples with an accuracy of 87.3% and 83.6 % are achieved

Weak-Field Thermal Hall Conductivity in the Mixed State of d-Wave Superconductors

Thermal transport in the mixed state of a d-wave superconductor is considered within the weak-field regime. We express the thermal conductivity, κxx\kappa_{xx}, and the thermal Hall conductivity, κxy\kappa_{xy}, in terms of the cross section for quasiparticle scattering from a single vortex. Solving for the cross section (neglecting the Berry phase contribution and the anisotropy of the gap nodes), we obtain κxx(H,T)\kappa_{xx}(H,T) and κxy(H,T)\kappa_{xy}(H,T) in surprisingly good agreement with the qualitative features of the experimental results for YBa2_{2}Cu3_{3}O6.99_{6.99}. In particular, we show that the simple, yet previously unexpected, weak-field behavior, κxy(H,T)∼TH\kappa_{xy}(H,T) \sim T\sqrt{H}, is that of thermally-excited nodal quasiparticles, scattering primarily from impurities, with a small skew component provided by vortex scattering.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures; final version as published in Phys Rev Let
