Interaction between creatinine and sulfonated derivatives of cobalt phthalocyanine

    Get PDF
© 2017Sulfonated derivatives of cobalt phthalocyanine strongly fix the creatinine (2-amino-1-methyl-1H-imidazol-4-ol) thus forming ordered dimeric structures. Such bonding may be used to create materials for sorption of creatinine from the solutions and to form direct liquid-phase systems based on metal phthalocyanines

Polypropylene suture material with anti-inflammatory action

© 2018, Iran Polymer and Petrochemical Institute. Polypropylene (PP) monofilament threads are widely used as surging sutures. Functionalization of their surface to impart new properties is of great importance and interest for medicine. This work provides an efficient approach for chemical activation of PP surface followed by anchoring of anti-inflammatory materials (aspirin and indomethacin). Two chemical routes for activation of PP surface and two anti-inflammatory substances were combined, giving a set of four different functionalized threads. Efficiency in terms of anti-inflammatory action of resultant hybrid materials was proved by ligation of wounds made along the spine of mice with further monitoring of inflammation process. In vivo test on mice showed the best healing of surgical skin wounds by means of suture activated by 45% H2O2 solution in the presence of FeSO4 as catalyst at 60 °C for 2 h, which was then modified with aspirin. Plasma interleukin measurement and histological section experiment were performed to prove the efficiency of the threads used for tissue connection. Highest healing efficiency of the suture is obviously explained by higher containment of anti-inflammatory substance anchored on PP surface. The work provides data on a cheap and easy implementation method for novel hybrid materials in medical applications that are able to perform accurately on surgical intervention sites

Symmetrical and difunctional substituted cobalt phthalocyanines with benzoic acids fragments: Synthesis and catalytic activity

© 2017 World Scientific Publishing Company Difunctional and symmetric phthalonitriles were synthesized by nucleophilic substitution of brome and nitro-group in 4-bromo-5-nitro-phthalonitrile for residues 4-amino-, 4-hydroxyl- and 4-sulfanyl benzoic acid. Symmetrical and difunctional substituted cobalt phthalocyanines were obtained by template synthesis based on mentioned phthalonitriles. Their spectral properties and catalytic activity in aerobic oxidation of sodium (Formula presented.),(Formula presented.)-carbomoditiolate were investigated

© 2018 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. Silica nanoparticles were obtained during the work according to two different sol–gel methods. In first one Schtrober's technique and series of cobalt phthalocyanine metal complexes varying in peripheral substituents were used. Second method was performed using the same complexes but differed in applying surface-active substance (SAS) and two precursors – tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APTMOS). All obtained hybrid materials were analyzed via SEM, the size of single particle was studied, which in all cases was about 200 nm. In order to investigate hybrid's characteristics laser diffraction and liquid nitrogen adsorption methods were applied. Distinction in pore's specific volume of differently-obtained nanoparticles was found. Catalytic activity of all obtained materials were tested in conversion of N,N-diethylcarbamodithiolate to thiuram E. Effect of peripherally substituted phthalocyanines and morphology of matrixes were manifested on catalytic activity of the hybrids

© 2016, Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht. The influence of the size of conjugated π-system on catalytic activity of cobalt complex with β-octaphenylporphyrin and its tetraaza-, tetrabenzo and tetrabenzotetraaza derivatives was studied in present work. It is found that catalytic activity for oxidation of sulfur-containing compounds increases under extension of conjugated macrocycle system according to the following series CoP < CoBP ≤ CoPz < CoPPz ≪ CoPc

The design of cargo carriers with high biocompatibility, unique morphological characteristics, and capability of strong bonding of fluorescent dye is highly important for the development of a platform for smart imaging and diagnostics. In this paper, BODIPY-doped silica nanoparticles were prepared through a "one-pot" soft-template method using a sol-gel process. Several sol-gel precursors have been used in sol-gel synthesis in the presence of soft-template to obtain the silica-based materials with the most appropriate morphological features for the immobilization of BODIPY molecules. Obtained silica particles have been shown to be non-cytotoxic and can be effectively internalized into the cervical cancer cell line (HeLa). The described method of synthesis allows us to obtain silica-based carriers with an immobilized fluorescent dye that provide the possibility for real-time imaging and detection of these carriers

Advances in immuno-oncology in the treatment of metastatic urothelial cancer have overturned current perspectives on the treatment of this type of tumor. The success of using Immune checkpoint inhibitors in metastatic urothelial cancer raised the question of effectiveness of immunotherapy added to standard first-line chemotherapy. This review presents data coming from actual studies examining chemotherapy and immunotherapy in urothelial cancer, or a combination of these methods. Ongoing and planned clinical studies should help identify the optimal sequencing, feasibility of combination, and best duration of treatment with checkpoint inhibitors in urothelial cancer.
