Relatório de estágio do mestrado em Ensino da Educação Física nos Ensinos Básico e Secundário, apresentado à Faculdade de Ciências do Desporto e Educação Física da Universidade de CoimbraEste relatório final surge a conclusão de uma formação de dois anos neste mestrado. O Estágio Pedagógico foi realizado na Escola Secundária de Anadia junto da turma D do 9º ano de escolaridade, durante o ano lectivo de 2013/14. O presente trabalho, pretende relatar e refletir sobre os procedimentos adotados em três processos por mim considerados fundamentais no processo ensino-aprendizagem, o planeamento; a realização e a avaliação. Ao longo do ano lectivo a reflexão constante sobre a prática pedagógica permitiu que me torna-se um professor em constante evolução, absorvendo a informação e tendo uma postura critica em relação a este processo. Com este relatório pretendo demonstrar o processo desenvolvido ao longo desta jornada. Um dos principais desfechos que retiro deste processo é a necessidade de ensinar e promover a aprendizagem adequada a todos os alunos. Deste o aluno que tem excesso de peso, ao que tem Necessidades Educativas Especiais, ao que não gosta de educação física, estre outros perfis. Se lhes for apresentado um ambiente adequado às suas necessidades todos eles serão munidos de uma importante bagagem. O estágio pedagógico promove a aquisição de um conjunto de saberes, de atitudes práticas e resolução de problemas pedagógicos, que servirão como base de sustentação para a integração futura no ensino e também será transversal a outras actividades ligadas ao desporto e à promoção de saúde. Por último, será abordado o tema: grupos de nível em Educação Física, apresentando como exemplo a turma do 9ºD. Que se foi confrontada ao longo do ano lectivos pela homo e heterogeneidade nos grupos formados para a aula.
This final report is the conclusion of a two-year training in this Masters Degree. The Pedagogical Internship was conducted in Escola Secundária de Anadia with class D of the 9th grade during the school year 2013/14. The present study aims to report and reflect on the procedures adopted in the three cases, that i considered fundamental, teaching-learning process, planning; the implementation and evaluation. During the school year, constant reflexion about pedagogical act allow me toi became a teacher in constant improvement, absorbing all the information with na critic posture about the teaching. With this report i pretend show all the process developed during this long journey. One of the principals knowledges i reatret from this process is the need of teaching and promote na learning suitable for all students. From the student who have overweight, the one who has Special Educational Needs, the student who don’t like physical education, until the other students profile, if we gave them an suitable environment to their needs, al og them will todos eles will be provided with an important baggage. The Pedagogical Internship promotes the acquisition of an a aquisição de a set of knowledge, with practices and attitudes for solving pedagogical problems, to serve as a support base for future integration in teaching and will also be cross-linked to other activities for sport and health promotion.. Pomegranate Peel Extract Decreases Plaque Necrosis and Advanced Atherosclerosis Progression in Apoe(-/-) Mice
Atherosclerosis is a chronic lipid-driven inflammatory condition of the arteries and is a leading cause of stroke, myocardial infarction, and other peripheral arterial diseases. Plant products rich in polyphenols such as pomegranate juice and peel extract are known to have beneficial effects in suppressing atherogenesis. However, the mechanism of action and its effect on advanced atherosclerosis progression which results in adverse clinical outcomes are not well understood. Herein, we use a standardized hydroethanolic extract of Punica granatum (pomegranate) peel in the Apoe ( -/- ) a murine model of advanced atherosclerosis. It was observed that the pomegranate peel extract fed mice have decreased plaque necrosis and elevated lesional collagen content which was associated with a favorable metabolic profile including lowering of blood glucose, cholesterol, and triglyceride. The decrease in plaque necrosis was linked with increased lesional macrophage efferocytosis efficiency which was associated with enhanced expression of the efferocytosis receptor Mertk. Using in vitro studies, we show that pomegranate peel extract blocks the shedding of Mertk and preserves macrophage efferocytosis efficiency. These data identify a novel mechanism by which pomegranate peel extract promotes the resolution of inflammation in atherosclerosis
Effects of rainwater harvesting and afforestation on soil properties and growth of Emblica officinalis while restoring degraded hills in western India
Effect of rainwater harvesting (RWH) structures like Contour trench (CT), gradonie (GD), box trench (BT), V-ditch (VD) and afforestation with Emblica officinalis Gaertn (planted in August, 2005) were studied in <10%, 10-20% and >20% slopes with a view to improve soil status, plant growth, sequester carbon and rehabilitate hills for local benefits. Soil pH and EC decreased and percent soil, SOC, NO3-N and PO4-P increased in June 2010 over 2005. Enhanced soil water and nutrients in <10% slopefacilitated height and collar diameter growth of E. officinalis. Soil water was 14.0 and 51.4% greater in >20% and <10% slopes, respectively than in 10-20% slope, whereas it was 17.8, 16.1, 24.2 and 14.0% greater in CT, GD, BT and VD treatments, respectively over control. The highest plant growth was in CT plots in all slopes. Second best treatment was BT in <10% slope and VD in other slopes. Conclusively, RWH and afforestation facilitated soil improvement but CT/BT treatments were more efficient inconserving soil and water facilitating plant growth and helped restore the degraded hill. However, further research is required on soil water use and its partitioning in different vegetation component and the benefits accrued from it for the local people
Design and Development of Halogenated Chalcone Derivatives as Potential Anticancer Agents
Purpose: To design and develop halogenated chalcone derivatives and evaluate them as anticancer agents using different cancer cell lines.Methods: Based on in silico design and docking on known target, crystal structure of the complex of interleukin-1beta converting enzyme (ICE) with a peptide based inhibitor, (3S )-N-Methanesulfonyl-3- ({1-[N-(2-naphtoyl)-l-valyl]-l-prolyl}amino)-4-oxobutanamide (1BMQ), novel halogenated chalcone derivatives were designed (7a-h) employing LigandFit module of Accelrys (Discovery Studio, 2.1 version). Standard protocols for ligand and protein preparation were employed and their binding orientation validated using (3S)-N-Methanesulfonyl-3-({1-[N-(2-naphtoyl)-l-valyl]-l-prolyl}amino)-4-oxobutanamide (MNO 601), a caspase inhibitor as reference standard. Energy minimized conformers with best dock scores were considered for the identification of interacting amino acid residues with ligands. Selected derivatives were synthesized and analyzed by melting point, 1H NMR, IR and mass spectroscopy. Their evaluation for anticancer activity was carried out using adriamycin, paclitaxel and 5-fluorouracil as reference standards on prostrate (PC-3), colon (COLO-205), ovary (OVCAR-5), liver (HEP-2) and neuroblastoma (IMR-32) cancer cell lines, and % growth inhibition and half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50) values were calculated.Results: Among synthesized compounds, 7b showed the most promising cytotoxic activity with an IC50 of 49.9 ìM on colon cancer cell lines (Colo-205), followed by 7d with an IC50 of 66.6 ìM against ovarian cancer cell lines (OVCAR-5).Conclusion: We report the successful synthesis, spectral characterization and in vitro anticancer evaluation of a series of novel halogenated chalcone derivatives against a number of human cancer cell lines. Exploring glass as a novel method for hands-free data entry in flexible cystoscopy
We present a way to annotate cystoscopy finding on Google Glass in a reproducible and hands free manner for use by surgeons during operations in the sterile environment inspired by the current practice of hand-drawn sketches. We developed three data entry variants based on speech and head movements. We assessed the feasibility, benefits and drawbacks of the system with 8 surgeons and Foundation Doctors having up to 30 years' cystoscopy experience at a UK hospital in laboratory trials. We report data entry speed and error rate of input modalities and contrast it with the participants' feedback on their perception of usability, acceptance, and suitability for deployment. The results are supportive of new data entry technologies and point out directions for future improvement of eyewear computers. The findings can be generalised to other endoscopic procedures (e.g. OGD/laryngoscopy) and could be included within hospital IT in the future
Efferocytes release extracellular vesicles to resolve inflammation and tissue injury via prosaposin-GPR37 signaling.
Macrophages release soluble mediators following efferocytic clearance of apoptotic cells to facilitate intercellular communication and promote the resolution of inflammation. However, whether inflammation resolution is modulated by extracellular vesicles (EVs) and vesicular mediators released by efferocytes is not known. We report that efferocyte-derived EVs express prosaposin, which binds to macrophage GPR37 to increase expression of the efferocytosis receptor Tim4 via an ERK-AP1-dependent signaling axis, leading to increased macrophage efferocytosis efficiency and accelerated resolution of inflammation. Neutralization and knockdown of prosaposin or blocking GRP37 abrogates the pro-resolution effects of efferocyte-derived EVs in vivo. Administration of efferocyte-derived EVs in a murine model of atherosclerosis is associated with an increase in lesional macrophage efferocytosis efficiency and a decrease in plaque necrosis and lesional inflammation. Thus, we establish a critical role for efferocyte-derived vesicular mediators in increasing macrophage efferocytosis efficiency and accelerating the resolution of inflammation and tissue injury
Genome-Wide Identification and Characterization of the Brassinazole-resistant (BZR) Gene Family and Its Expression in the Various Developmental Stage and Stress Conditions in Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)
Brassinosteroids (BRs) play crucial roles in various biological processes, including plant developmental processes and response to diverse biotic and abiotic stresses. However, no information is currently available about this gene family in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). In the present investigation, we identified the BZR gene family in wheat to understand the evolution and their role in diverse developmental processes and under different stress conditions. In this study, we performed the genome-wide analysis of the BZR gene family in the bread wheat and identified 20 TaBZR genes through a homology search and further characterized them to understand their structure, function, and distribution across various tissues. Phylogenetic analyses lead to the classification of TaBZR genes into five different groups or subfamilies, providing evidence of evolutionary relationship with Arabidopsis thaliana, Zea mays, Glycine max, and Oryza sativa. A gene exon/intron structure analysis showed a distinct evolutionary path and predicted the possible gene duplication events. Further, the physical and biochemical properties, conserved motifs, chromosomal, subcellular localization, and cis-acting regulatory elements were also examined using various computational approaches. In addition, an analysis of public RNA-seq data also shows that TaBZR genes may be involved in diverse developmental processes and stress tolerance mechanisms. Moreover, qRT-PCR results also showed similar expression with slight variation. Collectively, these results suggest that TaBZR genes might play an important role in plant developmental processes and various stress conditions. Therefore, this work provides valuable information for further elucidate the precise role of BZR family members in wheat
