Perspectives of the Swiss policy towards the European Union
Relations between Switzerland and the European Union might be perceived as interesting, and at the same time an unprecedented example of the new, flexible integration. Despite more than a decade of fruitful cooperation, many of its aspects remains controversial. The problem of autonomous adaptation, lack of ability to influence decision-making processes within the Community, the opening of the labor market for new EU member states or other institutional aspects of the implementation of the agreements. These are just a part of the problems, which could be mentioned here. So the basie ąuestion remains - what will happen next? Has this an unprecedented example of a new form of integration reached its limits? What could be the prospects for the futurę cooperation? This article attempts to fmd answers to these ąuestions. Several scenarios are taking under consideration, based on an analysis of current conditions and experiences, as well as on evaluation of the current political strategy of the govemment. That is: continuation of the bilateral relations, the accession to the European Union or the conclusion of a framework or association agreement. Those scenarios are being analysed in order to find the most probably solution for the futurę relations between European Union and Switzerland

Aging in the Social Space
A publication called Aging in the Social Space is a compilation of studies, which deal with theoretical understanding and empirical solutions, learning about problem spheres, specifying content parallels of social, legal, economic, moral and ethical views on senior issues in society, which are closely related to each other and are interconnected. This publication focus on the case study of Poland. It is supposed to provide a multidimensional view of old age issues and issues related to aging and care for old people in society. We believe that it is natural also to name individual spheres, in which society has some eff ect, either direct or indirect, within issues concerning seniors. Learning about these spheres is the primary prerequisite for successful use of social help to seniors in society
Detection of line segments
In the paper a method of line segment detection in the images is
presented. It bases on existing LSD approach which was designed to be a parameterless technique dedicated to analysis of real world scenes. In consequence it encounters problems with other types of images, e.g. medical images, where the characteristic of the structures may be completely different. The method proposed in this work allows to tune its parameters for that characteristic and thus allows to achieve satisfactory results also for medical data. The effect of the approach is illustrated with mammographic images
Application of active contours with expert knowledge to heart ventricle segmentation
Automatic heart ventricle segmentation in CT heart images can be an element of system supporting pulmonary embolism diagnosis. To solve that problem in this paper an application of two classical active contour models, snakes and geometric active contours, is proposed. The prepared implementation uses the unified model of those techniques which allows to define forces acting upon a contour only once. The nature of the images causes that the process of force construction requires additional expert knowledge since using only the information visible in the image satisfactory results cannot be obtained
The chromosphere and prominence magnetometer
The Chromosphere and Prominence Magnetometer (ChroMag) is conceived with the
goal of quantifying the intertwined dynamics and magnetism of the solar
chromosphere and in prominences through imaging spectro-polarimetry of the full
solar disk. The picture of chromospheric magnetism and dynamics is rapidly
developing, and a pressing need exists for breakthrough observations of
chromospheric vector magnetic field measurements at the true lower boundary of
the heliospheric system. ChroMag will provide measurements that will enable
scientists to study and better understand the energetics of the solar
atmosphere, how prominences are formed, how energy is stored in the magnetic
field structure of the atmosphere and how it is released during space weather
events like flares and coronal mass ejections. An integral part of the ChroMag
program is a commitment to develop and provide community access to the
"inversion" tools necessary for the difficult interpretation of the
measurements and derive the magneto-hydrodynamic parameters of the plasma.
Measurements of an instrument like ChroMag provide critical physical context
for the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) and Interface Region Imaging
Spectrograph (IRIS) as well as ground-based observatories such as the future
