    Research on antibacterial activity of jackfruit wood (A. heterophylla Lmk.) ethanolic extract to B. subtilis and E. coli in vitro have been done. Jackfruit wood extraction was done with maceration method using ethanolic solvent 70%. Antibacterial activity test used agar diffution method. There were tested 5 groups of serial extract concentration 1%, 10% and 100%; positive control (tetracycline HCl) and solvent control/ negative control Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO 10%). The result showed that ethanolic extract of jackfruit wood didn't have antibacterial activity until the highest concentration. Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) test showed that ethanolic extract of jackfruit wood contain flavonoid and alkaloid.     Tartrazin is a certified colouring agent which classified into certified colour means it is permitted for foods and bevereges. . The aim this research was to determine the existence of tartrazin in orson drink. Identification was carried out using thin layer chromatography (TLC) method white mobile phase isopropanol:ammonia 25% (4:1), while the assay was using spectrophotometry method. Thin layer chromatogrphy result showed that all samples contain tartrazin. The result of analysis method that coefficient of variation the presicion was 1,230% ( r table). Limit of detection and limit of quntitation of this research was 1,251 ppm and 4,169 ppm It was found that concentration of tartrazine in samples A ; B ; C and D ; were 79,445; 77,325;78,267;78,56 respechvely.     It has been conducted a study on the determination of curcuminoid in jamu β€œX” powder containing rhizome of Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb, was distributed in Purwokerto. In this study, a sample was taken and extracted for determination of levels refluc and conducted using Ultraviolet Visible spectrophotometry method. Curcuminoid reaction with addition of boric acid in the atmosphere to form acids that leads to complex rubrocurcumin shift the maximum wavelength to 500 nm. The result study where coefficient of variation the presicion was 0.96 ( r table). Limit of detection and limit of quantitation of this research was to 0.08 ppm and 0.25 ppm. The result showed that the mean concentration showed that the mean concentration of curcumin in jamu β€œX” powder containing rhizome of Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. Sampel 0.56 ppm. Determination of curcuminoid in jamu β€œX” powder containing rhizome of Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb that use Ultraviolet Visible spectrophotometry method is valid.     Pembuatan Etanol Dari Nira Nipah ( Nypa Fruticans Wurmb) Dengan Proses Fermentasi

    It had been conducted a study on the making ethanol from nypa sap (Nypa frutican Wurmb) with fermentation process. This study aimed determine the amount of ethanol produced from nypa sap and to the amount of yeast that cauld produce the optimum ethanol. In this fermentation using yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). To determine the amount of ethanol produced was carried out by weighing the gravity of ethanol destlilled using piknometer. The result of this study showed that ethanol could be produced from the nypa sap in the amount of 5 to 6% without significantly influence by the amoun of yeast used.     Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb is a crop from Zingiberaceae family that historically has enough wide traditional use in around of Indonesian people. One of the important process in preparation of simplicia Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. rhizome is drying process, where the process influence the quantity or quality volatile oil level of Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. rhizome. The aim of this research was to find out the volatile oil level on Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. rhizome by oven and drying sunshine. Result of volatile oil of Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. rhizome at drying sunshine was 0.14% v/w whereas at drying oven was 0.28% v/w. Obtained result from t test analysis indicated the existence of mean difference, this indicated from t value more than t table. Later perform qualitative analysis of volatile oil with Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometer with helium as mobile phase and phenyl metil syloksan as stationary phase. This research result indicated that volatile oil of Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. from solar drying consist of 28 chemical constituents. The top five components of the essential oil were cineole, camphor, alpha curcumin, androsta, dan alpha chamigren. Volatile oil from oven drying consists of 33 chemical constituents. The top five components of the essential oil were camphor, alpha curcumin, androsta, germacron and alpha chamigren. Key word : essential oils, Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb. rhizome, drying, GCMS

    The assay of ketoprofen in gel using ultraviolet – visible spectrophotometry method had been conducted. The purpose of this experiment is validation of ketoprofen determination method using ultraviolet – visible spectrophotometry. The validation of method in this study consisted of linearity, limit of detection, limit of quantitation, precision, and accuracy. The result of analysis is ultraviolet – visible spectrophotometry method can be used for determination of ketoprofen gel.
