Effect of paclobutrazol and benzyl adenine on oriental lily hybrids
Studies on the effect of growth regulators viz., Paclobutrazol and Benzyl Adenine (PBZ and BA, respectively) on Oriental Lily Hybrids, 'Star Gazer Pink' and 'Star Gazer White' in the second year were carried out at Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan (H.P). The effect of growth regulators applied in the first year, was studied on growth and flowering of Oriental lily hybrids in the second year. Plant height and number of leaves plant-1 were recorded maximum when PBZ 25 ppm was applied in the first year. Maximum plant height and number of leaves plant-1 were found in 'Star Gazer White' (84.46 cm; 35.04 cm). Bulbs of 'Star Gazer White' when dipped in PBZ 25 ppm for 12 h in the first year resulted in maximum plant height (102.50 cm) in the second year. Leaf area in the second year was recorded maximum in 'Star Gazer White' (34.40 cm2) when PBZ 50 ppm was applied as bulb dip in the first year. Flower buds were initiated earlier in 'Star Gazer White' (84.48 days) as compared to 'Star Gazer Pink' (85.90 days). Days to bud initiation were also recorded minimum (75.81 days) when PBZ 25 ppm was applied as pre-plant bulb dip. More number of flowers plant-1 was recorded in 'Star Gazer White' (5.42) which lasted longer on stems (16.77 days). Bulbs dipped in growth regulators in the first season produced maximum number of flowers plant-1 (5.72) and duration of flowering was also maximum (18.28 days)
50 years of British accent bias
Do accent biases observed half a century ago (Giles 1970) and 15 years ago (Coupland & Bishop 2007) still hold today in Britain? We provide an updated picture of national attitudes to accent labels by replicating and extending previous studies. Mean ratings and relative rankings of 38 accents for prestige and pleasantness by a large representative sample of the British population (N = 821) attest to a remarkably stable, long-standing hierarchy of accent status. We find little evidence of demotion of conservative prestige varieties or reranking of accents, although we do observe a slight improvement in lower rankings. We focus in detail on age and life stage, finding that most of the age patterns observed in earlier studies were in fact instances of age-grading (lifespan effects), not real-time change in attitude. The midlife phase of life corresponds to conservative shifts in the perception of global, migrant-heritage, and stigmatised varieties. Our findings add change in speech evaluation to the growing body of research on lifespan change in speech production. Finally, although effects of ethnicity, social class, regional self- and other-bias, and age remain firmly in place, earlier gender differences in respondent behaviour have more or less disappeared
Isospin Dependence of the Spin-Orbit Force and Effective Nuclear Potentials,
The isospin dependence of the spin-orbit potential is investigated for an
effective Skyrme-like energy functional suitable for density dependent
Hartree-Fock calculations. The magnitude of the isospin dependence is obtained
from a fit to experimental data on finite spherical nuclei. It is found to be
close to that of relativistic Hartree models. Consequently, the anomalous kink

Magneto-Seebeck effect in spin-valve with in-plane thermal gradient
We present measurements of magneto-Seebeck effect on a spin valve with
in-plane thermal gradient. We measured open circuit voltage and short circuit
current by applying a temperature gradient across a spin valve stack, where one
of the ferromagnetic layers is pinned. We found a clear hysteresis in these two
quantities as a function of magnetic field. From these measurements, the
magneto-Seebeck effect was found to be 0.82%.Comment: 10 Pages, 7 figure
MANAGEMENT OF AMLAPITTA THROUGH AHARA VIHARA AND YOGIC PRACTICES
Modern eras changing lifestyle along with changing food culture has given birth to various diseases. Amlapitta is one of the most common symptom (disease) seen in the society. Hurry, Worry, and Curry are the three main reasons for the disease. The disease Amlapitta has not been mentioned in Vrihatarayee. Acharya Kashyapa was the first to describe Amlapitta as disease. Ahara is the best preventive medicine and solely responsible for health and illness, sorrow and happiness. Almost all diseases occur due to unwholesome diet and dietary habits. A good & proper diet in disease is worth a hundred medicines & no amount of medication can do well to a patient who does not follow a strict regimen of diet. Acharya Kashyap had stressed on the dietary restriction and its importance in the management of Amlapitta with utmost concern. This review paper emphasizes on strict dietary interventions and life style modifications to prevent and to cure Amlapitta as Ayurveda has given extreme importance to optimal dietary regimen and its variation as per the season, Agni, Prakriti, type of food taken and the disease condition in the management of disease like Amlapitta, where the dietary factors are working along with several other diseases, in the manifestation. Yogic practices play a significant role in the prevention & management of Amlapitta. Shatkarma detoxifies internal system and expels waste material. After completion of these Karmas there is enhancement of bodily properties.

Nuclear Breathing Mode in the Relativistic Mean Field Theory
The breathing-mode giant monopole resonance is studied within the framework
of the relativistic mean-field (RMF) theory. Using a broad range of parameter
sets, an analysis of constrained incompressibility and excitation energy of
isoscalar monopole states in finite nuclei is performed. It is shown that the
non-linear scalar self-interaction and the resulting surface properties
influence the breathing-mode considerably. It is observed that dynamical
surface properties respond differently in the RMF theory than in the Skyrme
approach. A comparison is made with the incompressibility derived from the
semi-infinite nuclear matter and with constrained nonrelativistic Skyrme

Path Planning of an Autonomous Surface Vehicle based on Artificial Potential Fields in a Real Time Marine Environment
With growing advances in technology and the everyday dependence on oceans for resources, the role of unmanned marine vehicles has increased many a fold. Extensive operations having naval, civil and scientific applications are being undertaken and demands are being placed on them to increase their flexibility and adaptability. A key factor for such vehicles is the requirement for them to possess a path planning subsystem. Most path planning techniques are implemented in self-simulated environments. This study accounts for use of artificial potential field in path planning of an autonomous surface vehicle (ASV) in a real time marine environment.
