Background: Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is a common ulcerative disease of the oral mucosa, which is difficult to treat. In Ayurveda, several medicinal plants have been evaluated for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects in many oral diseases as an alternative for modern medicines. Method: A study with open-label, non-comparative single-arm design was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of “Stomatab” capsules in improving oral health in 30 subjects with RAS. The secondary objectives were to assess the improvement in oral health and tolerability of the herbal formulation. Subjects were instructed to take one capsule thrice daily after meals for 14 days. Patients were evaluated at three assessment points: screening and baseline (Visit 1, Day 0) with follow-ups done at Visit 2 (Day 5 ± 2) and Visit 3 at the end of the study (Day 14 ± 2). Results: There was a significant reduction in the mean ulcer size from 3.66 ± 1.27 mm (V1) to 0.64 ± 0.78 (V3). The mean number of ulcers reduced from 1.97 ± 0.72 (V1) to 0.90 ± 0.66 (V3). Significant improvement in ulcer-related symptoms of pain (Ruja), burning sensation (Daha) and redness (Raktavarnata) was noted. The total ulcer symptom scores decreased from 7.67 ± 2.38 (V1) to 0.63 ± 0.56 (V3). No side effects were reported by the study participants. Conclusion: These results show that the polyherbal formulation “Stomatab” capsule is safe and effective for the treatment of RAS

In vitro antifungal screening of some medicinal plants against Macrophomina phaseolina

The medicinal plants present enormous reservoir of potential microbial compounds that could be useful alternative to synthetic microbicides and are being used to develop drugs. In the present study of five selected medicinal plants the leaf powder extracts were tested against Macrophomina phaseolina by disc diffusion method. It was found that ethanol extract strongly effective against Macrophomina phaseolina, is a causal agent for charcoal rot of sunflower fungal pathogen. &nbsp

The present article discusses trauma and its impact on human emotions, particularly on women, in literature, with a focus on K R Meera's novel, The Unseeing Idol of Light. The research paper highlights the rise of trauma theory in literature and explores the cultural and psychological influence of trauma in literature. It also analyses the characters in the novel through the lens of emotional imbalance and interdependency and examines the interrelation between vision, love, and trauma. The prevalence of negative emotions over positive emotions in the novel has been discussed. The paper emphasises the importance of mental stability in contemporary society and discusses various themes such as psychic changes, loss, longing, and transformation. The researcher aims to analyse and relate the selected work with critical thinking to shed light on the cultural and psychological impressions of literature.El presente artículo analiza el trauma y su impacto en las emociones humanas, particularmente en las mujeres, en la literatura, con un enfoque en la novela de K R Meera, The Unseeing Idol of Light.

HYPOGLYCAEMIC EFFECT OF SYZYGIUM CARYOPHYLLATUM (L.) ALSTON ON ALLOXAN INDUCED DIABETIC ALBINO MICE

Objective: The primary objective of this study was to determine the hypoglycaemic activity of S. caryophyllatum in alloxan induced diabetic mice. Methods: Alloxan was administered as a single dose (60mg/kg, b. wt) to induce diabetes. Methanol extracts from S. caryophyllatum (250mg/kg body weight/day) was administered for 14 days to alloxan induced diabetic mice and the body weight changes and fasting blood sugar levels were monitored on 0, 7th and 14th day. Glycosylated haemoglobin levels also estimated. Result: The results suggest that the administration of S. caryophyllatum have hypoglycaemic activity in alloxan induced diabetic mice and their effect was equivalent to that of reference drug Glibenclamide. Conclusions: The results suggested that the methanol extract of S. caryophyllatum  possess anti-diabetic effect on Alloxan induced diabetic mice and it can be recommended for the prevention of diabetes mellitus. Keywords: Alloxan monohydrate, Glibenclamide, Glycosylated haemoglobi

Energy efficient clustering and routing optimization model for maximizing lifetime of wireless sensor network

Recently, the wide adoption of WSNs (Wireless-Sensor-Networks) is been seen for provision non-real time and real-time application services such as intelligent transportation and health care monitoring, intelligent transportation etc. Provisioning these services requires energy-efficient WSN. The clustering technique is an efficient mechanism that plays a main role in reducing the energy consumption of WSN. However, the existing model is designed considering reducing energy- consumption of the sensor-device for the homogenous network. However, it incurs energy-overhead (EO) between cluster-head (CH). Further, maximizing coverage time is not considered by the existing clustering approach considering heterogeneous networks affecting lifetime performance. In order to overcome these research challenges, this work presents an energy efficient clustering and routing optimization (EECRO) model adopting cross-layer design for heterogeneous networks. The EECRO uses channel gain information from the physical layer and TDMA based communication is adopted for communication among both intra-cluster and inter-cluster communication. Further, clustering and routing optimization are presented to bring a good trade-off among minimizing the energy of CH, enhancing coverage time and maximizing the lifetime of sensor-network (SN). The experiments are conducted to estimate the performance of EECRO over the existing model. The significant-performance is attained by EECRO over the existing model in terms of minimizing routing and communication overhead and maximizing the lifetime of WSNs

Plagiarism is a subject of academic misconduct among teaching and research community in higher educational institutions. Information and communication technology has immensely made easy to access information in digital form or electronic form that can lead to copying words/text from any kind of information sources such as Internet, books, magazines, journals, project reports, publications, white papers etc, without acknowledging the original author/ authors with proper citation. Plagiarism is the act of stealing someone else\u27s work and attempting to pass it off as one’s own. In the global academic scenario plagiarism occurs due to lack of knowledge or due to ignorance. In the present study an attempt has been made to study the awareness of plagiarism among research scholars of Karnatak University Dharwad. The findings of the study reveal that most of the research scholars are aware of plagiarism, and they have fair knowledge on various issues of plagiarism such as different types of plagiarism, various anti-plagiarism softwares, consequences indulging in plagiarism etc, some of the factors that influence them to involve in plagiarism are also identified from the study. Most of the respondents have opined about the need to conduct awareness program on plagiaris
