Treball Final de Màster Universitari en Professor/a d'Educació Secundària Obligatòria i Batxillerat, Formació Professional i Ensenyaments d'Idiomes. Codi SAP429.

ADyIII Complex of a Pentadentate Schiff Base with Field-Induced Single-Ion Magnet Behaviour

The influence of the solvent in the reaction of dysprosium(III) chloride hydrate with the N3O2 ligand H2L (2,6-bis(2-hydroxyphenyliminomethyl)pyridine) was studied To this end, the new mononuclear chloride complex [Dy(L)Cl(H2O)2] (1) was isolated in absolute ethanol as solvent, without any evidence of the hydrolysis of the ligand. This clearly contrasts with previous results, where a similar reaction in methanol proceeds with the partial hydrolysis of the Schiff base, and the formation of a new hemiacetal donor to yield [Dy(HL’)2)][Dy(L)(Cl2)] (H2L’ = (6-(2- hydroxyphenyliminomethyl)-2-methoxyhydroxymethyl)pyridine). The single crystal X-ray structure of the chloride complex 1 shows that the DyIII ion is octacoordinated in a highly distorted N3O4Cl environment between triangular dodecahedral and biaugmented trigonal prisms. The full magnetic characterisation of 1 shows that it presents field-induced single ion magnet behaviour, with a thermal energy barrier Ueff of 113.5 K, which is the highest among dysprosium complexes derived from H2L.This research received no external funding. Dy4, Dy5, and Ho2 Complexes of an N3O2 Aminophenol Donor: A Dy5-µ3-Peroxide Single Molecule Magnet

The reactivity of the new flexible potentially pentadentate N3O2 aminophenol ligand H4Lr (2,2 -((pyridine-2,6-diylbis(methylene))bis(azanediyl))diphenol) towards different dysprosium salts and holmium(III) nitrate was investigated. Accordingly, this reactivity seems to greatly depend on the metal ion and salt employed. In this way, the reaction of H4Lr with dysprosium(III) chloride in air leads to the oxo-bridged tetranuclear complex [Dy4(H2Lr)3(Cl)4(μ3-O)(EtOH)2(H2O)2]·2EtOH·H2O (1·2EtOH·H2O), while the same reaction just changing the chloride salt by the nitrate one renders the peroxo-bridged pentanuclear compound [Dy5(H2Lr)2(H2.5Lr)2(NO3)4(μ3-O2)2]·2H2O (2·2H2O), where both peroxo ligands seem to come from the fixation and reduction of atmospheric oxygen. However, if holmium(III) nitrate is used instead of dysprosium(III) nitrate, no evidence of a peroxide ligand is observed, and the dinuclear complex {[Ho2(H2Lr)(H3Lr)(NO3)2(H2O)2](NO3)} 2.5H2O (3·2.5H2O) is isolated. The three complexes were unequivocally characterized by X-ray diffraction techniques, and their magnetic properties were analyzed. Thus, while the Dy4 and Ho2 complexes do not show magnet-like behavior even in the presence of an external magnetic field, 2·2H2O is a single molecule magnet, with an Ueff barrier of 61.2 K (43.2 cm−1). This is the first homonuclear lanthanoid peroxide SMM, which also shows the highest barrier among the reported 4f/3d peroxide zero field SMMs to date. This research received no external funding. Aging in Male Wistar Rats Associates with Changes in Intestinal Microbiota, Gut Structure, and Cholecystokinin-Mediated Gut-Brain Axis Function

    Get PDF
Aging in mammals is characterized by failure of the homeostatic mechanisms that regulate energy balance. Several mechanisms have been proposed such as the presence of a low-grade chronic inflammation in different tissues, as well as leptin and insulin resistance, but the primary alteration is not fully elucidated. The gut microbiota has recently emerged as a key player in a variety of metabolic and neurological disorders. A main concept in this context is the gut–brain axis that refers to alterations in the gut that mediate effects in the central nervous system, including those related with the control of energy balance. Using 16S rRNA analysis, we demonstrate that aged male Wistar rats have increased presence of mucin-degrading and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-producing bacteria. In addition, old animals exhibit a lower number of neutral mucin secreting goblet cells, and a decrease of tight junctions and adherens junctions marker proteins, zonula occludens protein-1 (ZO-1) and β-catenin, respectively. These data are compatible with a thinner mucus layer and a weaker gut barrier in older animals that likely facilitate LPS leakage. Our data also show that cholecystokinin (CCK) satiating effect is impaired in aged rats, one of the expected effects of increased LPS leakage. In contrast, no overt signs of gut or systemic inflammation are observed. Changes in microbiota in old male Wistar rats present features of situations of increased adiposity, but different from those of obese animals. These could partly explain the increased adiposity and fat deposition in liver and heart as observed here.Spanish Government (grants BFU2008-04901-C03-01/BFI to J.M.C., BIO2016-76601-C3-2-R to M.F.-L., and RTI2018-094052-B-100 [MCI/AEI/FEDER, UE to A.M.V.] and Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red de Diabetes y Enfermedades Metabólicas (Instituto de Salud Carlos III) and Comunidad de Madrid, Spain (grants S2010/BMD-2423 to J.M.C., F.E., L.G.G., and A.M.V. and S2017/BMD-3684 to F.E. and A.M.V.). Codificación y anotación del habla en un contexto bilingüe: el corpus ESLORA de español de Galicia

    Get PDF
This article provides an overview of the design and composition of the corpus ESLORA and shows its usefulness in analysing social and situational variation. The corpus also contributes to the study of the processes of change related to the geographical variation of Spanish, since it records its use in a region with its own distinctive language. This aspect facilitates the recognition of the Spanish spoken in Galicia as a research object in the field of Hispanic dialectology, allowing for its comparison with other geographical varieties on an equal footing. The main focus of the paper is on some difficulties encountered during transcription, codification, and annotation of spoken recordings as well as with the arguments that justify the solutions taken by the research team.Financiado pola Xunta de Galicia, ED431B 2017/3

Study of the kinematic dependences of Λ 0b production in pp collisions and a measurement of the Λ 0b → Λ +c π − branching fraction

    Get PDF
The kinematic dependences of the relative production rates, fΛ0b/fd, of Λ 0b baryons and B 0 mesons are measured using Λ 0b → Λ +c π − and B¯0 →D+π− decays. The measurements use proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1 fb−1 at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, recorded in the forward region with the LHCb experiment. The relative production rates are observed to depend on the transverse momentum, p T, and pseudorapidity, η, of the beauty hadron, in the studied kinematic region 1.5 < p T < 40 GeV/c and 2 < η < 5. Using a previous LHCb measurement of fΛ0b/fd in semileptonic decays, the branching fraction ℬ(Λ 0b → Λ +c π −) = (4.30 ± 0.03 + 0.12− 0.11 ± 0.26 ± 0.21) × 10− 3 is obtained, where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second is systematic, the third is from the previous LHCb measurement of fΛ0b/fd and the fourth is due to the b B¯0 →D+π− branching fraction. This is the most precise measurement of a Λ 0b branching fraction to date.S

Study of the rare B0s and B0s decays into the π+π−μ+μ−final state

    Get PDF
A search for the rare decays B0s→π+π−μ+μ−and B0→π+π−μ+μ−is performed in a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0fb−1collected by the LHCb detector in proton–proton collisions at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8TeV. Decay candidates with pion pairs that have invariant mass in the range 0.5–1.3GeV/c2and with muon pairs that do not originate from a resonance are considered. The first observation of the decay B0s→π+π−μ+μ−and the first evidence of the decay B0→π+π−μ+μ−are obtained and the branching fractions, restricted to the dipion-mass range considered, are measured to be B(B0s→π+π−μ+μ−) =(8.6 ±1.5(stat) ±0.7(syst) ±0.7 (norm)) ×10−8and B(B0→π+π−μ+μ−) =(2.11±0.51(stat)±0.15(syst)±0.16(norm))×10−8, where the third uncertainty is due to the branching fraction of the decay B0→J/ψ(→μ+μ−)K∗(892)0(→K+π−), used as a normalisation.S

Measurement of the CP-violating phase βin B0→J/ψπ+π−decays and limits on penguin effects

    Get PDF
Time-dependent CPviolation is measured in the (—)B0→J/ψπ+π−channel for each π+π−resonant final state using data collected with an integrated luminosity of 3.0fb−1in ppcollisions using the LHCb detector. The final state with the largest rate, J/ψρ0(770), is used to measure the CP-violating angle 2βeffto be (41.7 ±9.6+2.8−6.3)◦.This result can be used to limit the size of penguin amplitude contributions to CPviolation measurements in, for example, (—)B0s→J/ψφdecays. Assuming approximate SU(3) flavour symmetry and neglecting higher order diagrams, the shift in the CP-violating phase φsis limited to be within the interval [−1.05◦, +1.18◦] at 95% confidence level. Changes to the limit due to SU(3) symmetry breaking effects are also discussed.S
