    The excellence education has become the primary concern for achievement to compete in this global village. Since the technological and vocational higher education became one of the essential elements in the educational road map, students are expected to be more skillful than the one of regular university. This stutfy reviews the development of effective learning systems and examines the relationship between employability and effective learning systems from students' perception. The results found that the model indicates a highly acceptable fit between the model and data. Also, there exists significant direct effect between employability and effective learning systems.     The Native Speaker Programme – the coin has two sides

    The aim of the study is to gain an insight into novice ESL teachers’ diverse experiences as mentees in a mentoring programme, the Native Speaker Programme. Employing a multiple case study, the study was conducted among four novice primary school ESL teachers in Malaysia through in-depth interviews and observations. The findings indicated that there are two sides of the coin of being the mentees in the Native Speaker Programme, positive as well as less positive experiences. While some of the novice teachers had the opportunity to work with mentors with positive personal qualities who played constructive roles in facilitating their professional development through effective mentoring strategies, some experienced the opposite. The two contradictory experiences represent two sides of the same coin

    Experts’ Agreement of the Personalized m-Learning Curriculum Model Based on Fuzzy Delphi Method

    The purpose of this study was to identify the experts’ agreement on the suitability of the personalized m-learning curriculum model. A total of 25 experts were selected to evaluate the model. A Fuzzy Delphi Method was used to identify suitability of the elements in personalized m-learning model. Based on the overall findings, all the items have met the requirements needed in the triangular ­­­­­­­­­fuzzy number and meet the deffuzification process (more than the Alpha α - cut value of 0.5). This revealed that all the experts consensually agreed with all questionnaire items. Hence, the proposed personalized m-learning curriculum implementation model is suitable to serve as a guideline for the instructor in implementing personalized m-learning. The new personalized m-learning elements for another course or programme could be determined based on the experts’ opinions. This will enable the development of personalized m-learning model that could be implemented for any course or programme

    The success of retrovirus therapy has prompted many of the infected HIV/AIDS serodiscondents couples to now live healthier lives and pursuing a wider range of activities. Many HIV/AIDS infected women today can participate in having their babies, with a significant chance of living to see their children grow into adulthood without infection. Based on the foregoing, the authors carried out qualitative interview research to determine the child bearing desires of serogative couple. Study findings show that two thirds of the interviewed women have high desires to have babies despite having full knowledge of their health condition. The authors conclude that collaborative partnership between family planning and HIV/AIDS services and HIV counseling as part of the integrated system will provide early intervention services to provide relief of anxiety about reproduction in an HIV infected woman to reduce HIV transmission and marriage breakup

    Design of a Bahasa Melayu grammar online learning portal for form two students using delphi technique

    This study was aimed at developing a Bahasa Melayu grammar learning portal for Form Two students (BMGLP). A developmental approach was used in this study. Needs analysis was carried out on the Bahasa Melayu teachers and Form Two students. The results of needs analysis on Form Two students showed that they preferred topics such as question answering techniques, and proverbs. The Delphi technique using consensus of experts in Bahasa Melayu was carried out in three rounds. The findings have resulted in successful development of a Bahasa Melayu Grammar Learning Portal for Form Two students. Hence it can be concluded that the BMGLP was successfully developed and can help students to acquire Bahasa Melayu grammar eficiently. Lastly, based on the findings, it is suggested that teachers and students use use web portal materials as supplementary resources to diversify their learning activities besides enriching their knowledge of Bahasa Melayu grammar

    AbstractUnity and tolerance are imperious in the development of educational policy in multi-ethnic Malaysia. Efforts are taken cautiously to implement an educational policy which would include and acknowledge the diverse cultural values in the curriculum. Visual Arts Education is conceded as a unifying tool in education and for life-long understanding and tolerance of ethnic diversity. This qualitative case study on a Visual Arts Education teacher with seventeen years of experience teaching the subject in a national school investigates factors which impede educators in the process of fostering multi-ethnic tolerance in the arts classroom. Some of these factors which become the challenges for Visual Arts Education teachers in fostering multi-ethnic tolerance in the classrooms are the nonchalant attitude towards visual arts education, ethno-centric grouping and the time fringe in completing the syllabus

This research uses 127 principals and 694 teachers of urban secondary schools of Bangladesh as the sample. Schools are becoming better when the principals give more emphasizing on strategic plan, supportive and comprehensive roles but less emphasizing on shared decision making.     Mejorar la imaginación creativa de los niños en edad preescolar mediante el uso de canciones infantiles tradicionales malayas

    This study is an endeavor to promote music as an effective learning tool to boost children’s creativity in educational setting.  To facilitate this effort, a learning model on stimulating imagination through traditional Malay children’s songs has been designed to enhance creative cognition among preschool children. In completion of this study, Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) is used as a data collection method to construct the designed learning model. The ISM approach helps the study to easily identify the relation between learning activities and understand the relation to the overall structure of the creative imagination enhancement model being developed.  The designed learning model focuses on teaching with emphasis given on roles and relationships between teachers’ theories and classroom teaching practices on imagination and creativity. Thus, this study will generally benefit and bring a positive impact on the Malaysian education system.Este estudio es un esfuerzo para promover la música como una herramienta de aprendizaje eficaz para impulsar la creatividad de los niños en el entorno educativo. Para facilitar este esfuerzo, se ha diseñado un modelo de aprendizaje para estimular la imaginación a través de las canciones tradicionales de los niños malayos para mejorar la cognición creativa entre los niños en edad preescolar. Al finalizar este estudio, se utiliza el Modelo estructural interpretativo (ISM) como método de recolección de datos para construir el modelo de aprendizaje diseñado. El enfoque ISM ayuda al estudio a identificar fácilmente la relación entre las actividades de aprendizaje y comprender la relación con la estructura general del modelo de mejora de la imaginación creativa que se está desarrollando. El modelo de aprendizaje diseñado se centra en la enseñanza con énfasis en los roles y las relaciones entre las teorías de los maestros y las prácticas de enseñanza en el aula sobre imaginación y creatividad. Por lo tanto, este estudio generalmente se beneficiará y tendrá un impacto positivo en el sistema educativo de Malasia

    Impact of Video on Learning in Students with Autism in Malaysia: Future Prospects

    AbstractUse of video in Malaysia is seen as having a bright future because technology development is expanding even more now. Thirty articles related to use of video on students with autism have been investigated. Only 12 articles have been selected as appropriate for use as references for this study. This article looks at the future prospects of impact of video on learning of students with autism in Malaysia. The focus of this study is the use of video by experts, identifying behavior of students with autism in their use of video and determining the limitations of video and ways to overcome them. This study uses the Fuzzy Delphi approach to achieve consensus of experts on the focus of study. The findings show that usage of video is extremely effective on students with autism besides shaping the behavior desired. Although video has its limitations, these can be overcome in various ways as suggested by the experts and researchers
