    Anomalias congénitas das artérias coronárias

    Congenital coronary artery anomalies are modifications of their origin, course or structure and its incidence varies between 0,2 and 5,6% of the general population. Although the majority is asymptomatic, they are the second leading cause of sudden cardiac death in young athletes. The aim of this study is to highlight the main anomalies with hemodynamic significance, including the anomalous origin of a coronary artery from the opposite sinus and anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from pulmonary artery. The anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery from the opposite sinus accounts for 14-16% of all cardiac deaths, that unexpectedly occur in healthy children or young athletes during or immediately after exercise. The mechanism responsible for the compression/occlusion of the coronary artery originating from the opposite sinus is still unclear and there are several proposed mechanisms. The clinical presentation of these patients is variable and physical examination is normal in most individuals. Transthoracic echocardiogram is the diagnostic test most commonly used. Treatment and management are controversial topic. The anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from pulmonary artery is a very rare condition and without surgery, most infants die within the first 12 months of life. The echocardiogram is also the method of choice for diagnostic confirmation. The diagnosis of this congenital anomaly in an infant, usually seriously ill, is an indication for urgent surgery.     Training the osteoplastic flap technique in dogs

    SummaryAccess to frontal sinus using the osteoplastic flap technique is indicated in lesions that do not yield endonasal approach. This technique can be practiced with dogs, although delineation of sinusal perimeter in canines is not as easy as it is in humans.AimThis study aims at presenting a method to access and delineate the frontal sinus of canines to reproduce the osteoplastic flap technique in man.Study designSurgical technique in animal.Material and MethodIn adult dogs, two straight lines were drawn: one along the median line of the frontal region; and the other at 45° from the pupil. At the intersection point, 1-1.5 cm forward and 1 cm backward was measured; from these points, an incomplete rectangle delineating the frontal sinusal perimeters was drawn.ResultsThis procedure was performed 12 times during one year with participation of medical residents. Opening the animals' frontal sinuses was an easy procedure, and the osteoplastic technique to locate the sinus was performed without failures.ConclusionThe method of locating and delineating the frontal sinus of dogs was useful to show that the osteoplastic technique is realistically reproducible in men

    EXPANSÃO URBANA E SEUS IMPACTOS NA BACIA HIDROGRÁFICA NOS RESIDENCIAIS TORQUATO NETO II, III E IV EM TERESINA, PIAUÍ

    Os conjuntos habitacionais sempre tiveram significativa importância no combate ao déficit habitacional brasileiro, bem como na expansão da malha urbana de diversas cidades. Contudo, o desenvolvimento da infraestrutura de saneamento não acompanhou o ritmo do processo de urbanização marcado pela impermeabilização desenfreada do solo e aterramento dos talvegues naturais, o que alterou o ciclo hidrológico das bacias hidrográficas nas quais estes conjuntos se desenvolveram. De forma similar, os Residenciais Torquato Neto II, III e IV, localizados na região sul do município de Teresina, capital do Piauí, foram implantados de forma dissociada da hidrografia local e como consequência eles são assolados por diversos problemas devido ao aumento dos volumes e da velocidade do escoamento superficial direto, intensificando a magnitude e a frequência dos alagamentos urbanos, retrato também da insuficiência de capacidade dos sistemas públicos de drenagem pluvial. Portanto, considerando sua relevância na prevenção e na fundamentação de estudos ambientais, o presente trabalho dedicou-se a avaliar o processo de ocupação e seus impactos na bacia hidrográfica que drenam os setores destes residenciais. Desta forma, a delimitação da bacia foi realizada através de dados MDE da missão SRTM e, a partir de imagens do satélite Landsat 8, avaliando-se a evolução do processo de ocupação no período de dezembro de 2009 a dezembro de 2019. Em seguida, estimou-se a redução do tempo de concentração e o aumento do grau de impermeabilização da bacia através do Curve Number. Os testes avaliaram os impactos das alterações separadamente e em conjunto com o escoamento superficial direto, no intuito de observar a relevância de cada parâmetro hidrológico e o efeito composto das modificações na bacia

    Land-use and coverage in the structure of the landscape in a Tropical Dry Forest in northeast Brazil

    Landscape Ecology using GIS is applied to understand the effects of forest fragmentation and makes it feasible mainly for extensive areas, through the possibility of analyzing both the variety of units that compose it in time. This study aims to analyze the land use and coverage of tropical dry forests and to characterize their landscape structure in an area of the municipality of Floresta, Pernambuco, Brazil, in order to understand how the landscape configuration can influence the conservation. Orbital images were used from LANDSAT, and the classification was performed in the QGIS 2.18 software using the Maximum Likelihood methodification, for the years of 2007 and 2017. A circular buffer was incorporated around the area of study to analyze the structural patterns in the context of the landscape. Five thematic classes were used: dense vegetation, sparse vegetation, exposed soil, grassland, and water. The metrics were obtained through the Patch Analyst tool only to the class of dense vegetation. It is noted that much of the dense vegetation has become sparse. There was a reduction of exposed soil and an increase in grassland areas, which may indicate a regeneration process of the vegetation. The fragments of dense vegetation with more substantial dimensions are on constant exploratory actions and are the most affected with the reduction of size. Furthermore, climatic factors, periods of drought, and the presence of livestock may also affect the fragmentation of dense vegetation patches. Therefore, the landscape became heterogeneous, and a tendency was observed to increase the fragmentation, mainly in the more significant spots

    INFLUENCE OF FOREST COVERAGE IN THE SURFACE ALBEDO

    The surface albedo controls the energy balance between the surface and the atmosphere, being a primordial variable to identify climatic variations. The objective of this study was to evaluate the changes of the surface albedo in different Land Use and Land Cover in the Atlantic Forest biome from images TM/Landsat 5 and OLI/Landsat 8, verifying its variation in 30 years. The images used were path-row 221-080, which covered the Floresta Nacional de São Francisco de Paula on the dates of 1987 and 2017. The albedo was obtained by the method of the Surface Energy Balance Algorithm for Land, while the mapping of Land Use and Land Cover was performed by the Bhattacharyya algorithm, identifying four thematic classes. Finally, the albedo was crossed with the thematic classes, evidencing their variation in function of the changes in the land cover. The surface albedo ranged from 6 to 22%, but the year 1987 concentrated albedo values higher than in 2017. The native forest presented superior albedo to the Forest Plantations in both dates due to the structure of the canopy of this class. The spatial analysis of the albedo exposes the relation of this climatic variable to the cover of the terrestrial surface. Thus changes in the vegetation cover cause alterations in the albedo, influencing changes in the radiation and atmospheric fluxes

    GEOSPATIAL DISTRIBUTION OF FOREST SPECIES IN THE BOTANICAL GARDEN OF RECIFE, PERNAMBUCO, BRAZIL

    The adoption of appropriate strategies for the conservation and management of forest ecosystems associated with the Atlantic Forest depends on understanding the pattern of spatial distribution of forest species, mainly in protected areas. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the geospatial distribution of forest species in a fragment of Atlantic Forest (Lowland Dense Ombrophilous Forest) in the Botanical Garden of Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil. The phytosociological study was carried out by the plot method, with 40 plots of 10 m x 25 m, systematically distributed, where all living individuals that showed circumference at 1.3 m above the ground ≥ 15 cm were identified and georeferenced. To identify the existence of floristic similarity between the plots, the obtained data were subjected to hierarchical cluster analysis. The spatial variability of forest species was characterized using geostatistical analysis. The data were interpolated by kriging, followed by the construction of thematic maps of spatial distribution. Hierarchical cluster analysis revealed the formation of two groups of plots. The forest species Artocarpus heterophyllus, Dialium guianense, Helicostylis tomentosa, Hevea brasiliensis, Pouteria durlandii and Thyrsordium spruceanum showed spatial dependence. The use of geostatistics allowed visualizing the spatial distribution arrangements and identifying the concentration sites of these species.     LANDSCAPE CHANGE WITH THE TRANSPOSITION OF THE SÃO FRANCISCO RIVER, IN THE DOMAIN CAATINGA, PERNAMBUCO

    Landscape change with the transposition of the São Francisco River, in the Domain Caatinga, Pernambuco.The objective of this study was to evaluate the dynamics of land use and cover and the landscape structure, as well as the landscape structure, of the Directly Affected Area by Integration Project of the São Francisco River with the Northeastern Hydrographic Basins, from the East Axis portion located in the State of Pernambuco, Brazil. For this purpose, TM / Landsat 5 and OLI / Landsat 8 images were used, referring to the years 1998, 2008 and 2018, periods before, during and after the transposition, respectively. The land use and land cover classes used in this analysis were savanna-steppe, savanna-steppe, anthropized and / or uncovered area, water resources and agricultural area. Image processing and classification were performed using the QGIS software. Also, studies related to the landscape structure were carried out, using different types of metrics, processed in the Patch Analyst tool, an extension of ArcGIS 10.5. As a result of the analysis of the 20 years, it was obtained that the savanna-steppe vegetation cover showed a 13.86% reduction. However, there were additions in the areas of ciliary savanna, water resources, agricultural area and anthropized area in 1.93%, 0.11%, 0.31% and 11.51%, respectively. Furthermore, there was an increase in forest fragmentation, which corroborated with the results regarding for the core area metrics, which show that there has been a reduction in the size of the fragments and a trend towards the loss of the core areas, due to the edge effect

    Use dinamics and land cover in Floresta-PE

    Objetivou-se mapear a dinâmica de mudança do uso da terra e da cobertura florestal no período de 21 anos (1987 a 2008), no município de Floresta, PE. Foram utilizadas imagens de satélite LANDSAT 5 nos períodos de 1987, 1997 e 2008. Utilizou-se o aplicativo SPRING para elaboração da base de dados cartográficos e do processamento digital das imagens. As imagens foram segmentadas e classificadas pelo algoritmo de Bhattacharya, com a finalidade de produzir mapas temáticos nos seguintes usos da terra: vegetação densa, vegetação semidensa, solo exposto, agropecuária (cultivos/pecuária), corpos d´água e mata ciliar. Para um período de 21 anos, a cobertura florestal recuou 14,83%. O solo exposto teve um ganho de 8,61%, a classe agropecuária acumulou um ganho de 5,75%, os corpos d’água, ao longo do tempo, demonstraram um aumento de 4,03% e a mata ciliar teve tendência à queda ao longo dos períodos analisados, com uma perda total de 3,57%. Esses dados refletem as transformações por que o município de Floresta vem passando quanto ao uso da terra. A diminuição da cobertura florestal do município entre 1987 e 2008 foi a principal consequência da interação clima e pressão antrópica por recursos florestais, necessidade de expansão urbana e atividades agropecuárias.Palavras chave: Sensoriamento remoto; gestão florestal; semiárido; caatinga. AbstractUse dinamics and land cover in Floresta-PE.     Agreement Between Clinical-Radiographic and Histopathological Diagnoses in Maxillofacial Fibro-Osseous Lesions

    Objective: To compare the agreement of clinical and radiographic diagnosis with the histopathological diagnosis in fibro-osseous lesions of the jaws. Material and Methods: An analytical and exploratory study was made based on systematic collected data, carried out in the laboratory of surgical pathology of a public Dental School. There were evaluated cases of fibrous dysplasia (FD), cemento-osseous dysplasia (COD) and ossifyng fibroma (OF), diagnosed by clinical, radiographic (panoramic and periapical radiography), and histopathological analysis, in a period of 12 years (from March 2001 to June 2013). Descriptive and inferential statistics (Fisher's exact test) were obtained. Results: Ninety-six cases of FOLs were evaluated. The radiographic aspects of the FOLs studied did not differ significantly (p=0.09). Radiolucent lesions were the least frequent, corresponding to approximately 13.5% of radiographic findings. Mixed lesions and radiopaques were more present, how they were COD and FD, respectively. The more aggressive variation of OF (Juvenile Ossifying Fibroma - JOF) was less frequent among the pathologies evaluated. In approximately 61.46% of the cases clinical and radiographic diagnosis were confirmed by histopathological diagnosis of FOLs. The highest agreement and the highest disagreement were observed in COD cases (40.7% and 62.2%, respectively). Conclusion: FOLs of the maxillaries represent a group of lesions in which the establishment of the clinical and radiographic diagnosis supported by the histopathological confirmation is critical and challenging
