"TiCoSa" a 3d matrix conceptual model to investigate visitors’ perceptions in an athletic event

Visitor behavior can determine athletic events structure making it an important consideration for managers. In this study visitor behavior is analyzed using a new managerial tool called "TiCoSa - Time, Cost, and Satisfaction Activity Blocks" which permits managers to see the time, cost and satisfaction distribution of visitor activities. Through this tool time periods were classified and used as a means of describing visitor flow and behavior in various time blocks within a day. Expenditure patterns were also identified in relation to specific cost blocks relating to the consumption of preferred products and services. Afterword satisfaction was evaluated for each attribute. The recording of information is achieved by a descriptive data collection instrument which reflects time, satisfaction and cost distribution of visitors’ activities. Data collection will be accomplished by means of a diary-type semi-structured questionnaire which will be administered in face-to-face interviews with visitors. Despite limitations, the present research provides useful suggestions for grouping visitor activities (i.e. based on time distribution analysis of activities), which could constitute a basis for better managerial decision making

Each S.T.A.R.T. Economic Development community administers a community attitude survey to local residents. Generally the survey serves at least two purposes. One is to collect information about the attitudes and behavior of local. residents. For example, respondents are asked to rate a variety· of community services, programs and organizations. The questionnaire also collects information about shopping behavior and local preferences about economic development

One place, two perspectives: Destination image for tourists and nationals in Abu Dhabi

© 2018 Differing from previous studies about destination image, this study proposes a combined model of testing the destination image as perceived by locals living at the destination and by tourists travelling to the destination. This survey-based quantitative research was performed in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and consists of five parts: top-of-mind image, imaginative and realistic associations, strength of travelling motives, perceived destination image, and place attachment. Independent t-tests were performed to understand the differences between Emirati nationals and tourists. Results show significant differences in imaginative association and in the majority of place attachment items. The top-of-mind test puts the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque first for Emiratis, while tourists top-of-mind for Abu Dhabi is sea, sand, and beach. Practical and theoretical implications are discussed

Objectively Measured Sedentary Behavior in Preschool Children: Comparison Between Montessori and Traditional Preschools

Background: This study aimed to compare the levels of objectively-measured sedentary behavior in children attending Montessori preschools with those attending traditional preschools. Methods: The participants in this study were preschool children aged 4 years old who were enrolled in Montessori and traditional preschools. The preschool children wore ActiGraph accelerometers. Accelerometers were initialized using 15-second intervals and sedentary behavior was defined as/15-second. The accelerometry data were summarized into the average minutes per hour spent in sedentary behavior during the in-school, the afterschool, and the total-day period. Mixed linear regression models were used to determine differences in the average time spent in sedentary behavior between children attending traditional and Montessori preschools, after adjusting for selected potential correlates of preschoolers’ sedentary behavior. Results: Children attending Montessori preschools spent less time in sedentary behavior than those attending traditional preschools during the in-school (44.4. min/hr vs. 47.1 min/hr, P=0.03), after-school (42.8. min/hr vs. 44.7 min/hr, P=0.04), and total-day (43.7 min/hr vs. 45.5 min/hr, P = 0. 009) periods. School type (Montessori or traditional), preschool setting (private or public), socio-demographic factors (age, gender, and socioeconomic status) were found to be significant predictors of preschoolers’ sedentary behavior. Conclusions: Levels of objectively-measured sedentary behavior were significantly lower among children attending Montessori preschools compared to children attending traditional preschools. Future research should examine the specific characteristics of Montessori preschools that predict the lower levels of sedentary behavior among children attending these preschools compared to children attending traditional preschools

Preliminary study of possible power development on the Gasconade River

The location of a possible dam site on the Gasconade River as a thesis proved to be a very interesting subject. Our first trip pointed out to us that we had undertaken a large task. We also realized that our subject was too big to complete thouroughly sic in the time alloted. Due to this circumstance we tried to cover the essential facts and to eliminate as much of the detail work as possible. For instance, we made no attempt to make a complete survey of the basin, instead, we ran surveys for some distance up the river to give an idea of the nature of the country and a way of approximating the volume of the basin --Foreword, Page 3
