Galactic Nonlinear Dynamic Model
We develop a model for spiral galaxies based on a nonlinear realization of
the Newtonian dynamics starting from the momentum and mass conservations in the
phase space. The radial solution exhibits a rotation curve in qualitative
accordance with the observational data.Comment: 6 pages, 1 figure. Talk given in the 7th Alexander Friedmann

Leg ulcer as a manifestation of eosinophilic vasculitis in a patient with hepatitis C virus infection, medicated with pegylated interferon/ribavirin.
Cryoglobulinaemic vasculitis is a complication of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, responding to treatment with pegylated interferon (peg-IFN)/ribavirin (RIB), but vasculitis may first appear after treatment with peg-IFN/RIB. A 35-year-old man with HCV infection presented to our department with a 2-month history of a 3.3×3 cm ulcer localised on the right shin, with a regular border, on a violaceous base. Histopathological examination revealed a leucocytoclastic vasculitis, rich in eosinophils. The patient had been treated with peg-IFN/RIB 10 months prior and treatment was discontinued after 2 months because of the appearance of arthralgias and neuropathy. Laboratory investigations revealed positive cryoglobulins, elevation of rheumatoid factor and reduction of C4 after treatment with peg-IFN/RIB. Dressings with a hydrocellular foam were placed and after 2 months the ulcer resolved. We presented this case because of the rarity of development of a cryoglobulinaemic vasculitis in a patient with HCV infection, previously treated with peg-IFN/RIB
Late-onset of eruptive syringomas: a diagnostic challenge
Syringoma is a benign, adnexal tumor of the eccrine sweat gland ducts. Eruptive syringomas are a rare variant, occurring before or during puberty in most cases. A 57-year-old man was observed in our department, with a 10-year history of multiple brownish papules (1-4mm in diameter), localized on the neck, shoulders, trunk and axillae. The clinical diagnosis was cutaneous mastocytosis. Histopathological examination from a papule in the trunk was compatible with the diagnosis of syringoma. The patient was treated with isotretinoin, without any improvement. The clinical diagnosis of eruptive syringoma is difficult and histological examination is crucial for its diagnosis. Long-term morbidity is not associated with syringomas; they are treated for cosmetic reasons with unsatisfactory results

Genetic divergence among Brazilian garlic cultivars based on morphological characters and AFLP markers.
This study aimed to evaluate the genetic diverity of 20 garlic cultivars by using morphological characters and amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers to identify possible duplicate cultivars
Bilateral Shoulder Arthritis in COVID-19 Patient After Prolonged Mechanical Ventilation Assist: a Case Report
Prolonged immobilization and, in particular, mechanical ventilation, have been linked to muscle atrophy. Anecdotal reports in the literature describe rhabdomyolysis as a potential late complication of COVID-19 infection which, in severe cases, may coexist with fluid collections. We report a case of a 28-year-old patient that had been recently hospitalized with SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia, with need for invasive ventilation support. Days after being discharged, the patient presents with retrosternal thoracalgia irradiating to the left upper limb. On physical examination, abduction and external rotation were limited due to pain complaints and there was soft tissue swelling of the corresponding shoulder and arm. Imaging evaluation was essential to establish the underlying condition, revealing bilateral arthritis communicating with large rotator cuff collections, which was considered of septic nature.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
How will Mahanarva spectabilis (Hemiptera: Cercopidae) respond to global warming?
The aim of this study was to determine the favorable constant temperature range for Mahanarva spectabilis (Distant) (Hemiptera: Cercopidae) development as well as to generate geographic distribution maps of this insect pest for future climate scenarios. M. spectabilis eggs were reared on two host plants (Brachiaria ruziziensis (Germain and Edvard) and Pennisetum purpureum (Schumach)), with individual plants kept at temperatures of 16, 20, 24, 28, and 32C. Nymphal stage duration, nymphal survival, adult longevity, and egg production were recorded for each temperature*host plant combination. Using the favorable temperature ranges for M. spectabilis development, it was possible to generate geographic distribution. Nymphal survival was highest at 24.4C, with estimates of 44 and 8% on Pennisetum and Brachiaria, respectively. Nymphal stage duration was greater on Brachiaria than on Pennisetum at 20 and 24C but equal at 28C. Egg production was higher on Pennisetum at 24 and 28C than at 20C, and adult longevity on Pennisetum was higher at 28C than at 20C, whereas adult longevity at 24C did not differ from that at 20 and 28C. With these results, it was possible to predict a reduction in M. spectabilis densities in most regions of Brazil in future climate scenarios
Effect of abscisic acid on the calcium content for controlling blossom-end rot in tomato under water stress.
Water stress in tomato plants may cause the incidence of blossom-end rot. This study aimed to analyze the effect of abscisic acid leaf application for increasing the calcium uptake in irrigated tomato (?Santa Clara? cultivar) in the field, as a possible mechanism of blossom-end rot inhibition. The treatments consisted of four irrigation levels (25 %, 50 %, 75 % and 100 % of the crop water requirements to fulfil the crop evapotranspiration) and two abscisic acid doses (0 mg L-1 and 500 mg L-1). The fruits were harvested at 15 and 30 days after the anthesis and evaluated for calcium content and percentage of blossom-end rot. The application of abscisic acid increased the calcium partition to the distal region of the fruits at 30 days after the beginning of flowering, as well as reduced the incidence of blossom-end rot by 86 %, when compared with plants not treated with abscisic acid. It is possible to conclude that the foliar application of abscisic acid can significantly reduce the incidence of blossom-end rot
