Hierarchical Structure in Brazilian Industrial Firms: an Econometric Study
The paper investigates different implications of theoretical models for hierarchical structure. A sample of 6567 firms in the Brazilian manufacturing industry is considered and explanatory factors pertaining structural characteristics, network technology, technological innovations, managerial innovations and incentive mechanisms are investigated. Despite the broader availability of explanatory variables in some categories, one only detects important joint effects accruing from the group of network technology variables as had been previously obtained in the related literature. In contrast, however, one can detect a marginally significant joint effect of the newly considered group of incentive mechanisms variables. The evidence in terms of individual effects is largely consistent with the predicted effects from the theoretical literature on hierarchy.
Hierarchical Structure in Brazilian Industrial Firms: An Econometric Study
The paper investigates different implications of theoretical models for hierarchical structure. A sample of 6578 firms in the Brazilian manufacturing industry is considered and explanatory factors pertaining structural characteristics, network technology, technological innovations, managerial innovations and Incentive mechanisms are investigated. Important joint effects are detected for all groups of variables in partial contrast with the related previous literature. Moreover, one detects significant joint effect of the newly considered group of incentive mechanisms variables. The evidence in terms of individual effects is largely consistent with the predicted effects from the theoretical literature on hierarchy.
Determinants of Survival of Newly Created SMEs in the Brazilian Manufacturing: An Econometric Study
The paper investigates the survival of newly created small and medium enterprises in Brazilian manufacturing taking as reference the 1996-2005 period. The econometric analysis relies on time-varying version of the proportional hazard rate model that controls for unobserved heterogeneity. The evidence mostly corroborates previous findings for developed countries. Salient results include the positive role played by firm size, industry size and industry growth on survival and yet the negative influence exerted by industrial concentration and entry rate.survival, small and medium enterprises, manufacturing industry

3D printing as a disruptive technology for the circular economy of plastic components of end-of-life vehicles: a systematic review
The automotive industry is frequently associated with high polluting manufacturing systems, which raise concern owing to the current environmental frame. For this reason, new alternative manufacturing technologies with lower environmental impact have been proposed and tested, such as additive manufacturing (AM). Since AM technologies produce almost no waste, they can represent a huge opportunity for the automotive industry to become greener. In this sense, the object of the present review is to explore the challenges and strategies of 3D printing, recycling, and circular economy in the automotive industry. Therefore, to achieve the aim of the study, a systematic review methodology was used in five stages: (1) defining the targets; (2) extraction of papers from Scopus; (3) text mining and corpora text analysis of relevant documents from the platform; (4) identification of the dominant categories of the research topics; and (5) discussion and control of obtained results and provision of recommendations for future studies. The analysis of 14 relevant articles revealed that 3D printing technology represents an opportunity to empower small-scale producers of polymers, recycle ELV materials, and decentralize the supply chains of plastic articles. The possibility to include plastic parts produced by AM technology has been pointed out as an innovative option for car manufacturers. Unfortunately, till the present day, poor information was found in this regard. Findings highlighted the need for strategies to turn polymeric automotive components into more eco-friendly and safer materials, improve the supply chain of polymers, perform sustainability assessments, and reformulate waste policies for ELVs.GOVCOPP; ESTGAin publicatio
Survival of new firms in the Brazilian franchising segment: An empirical study
The paper investigates survival patterns of Brazilian franchising firms during the 1994-1999 period. First, at a more descriptive level one considered the (percentage) survival of newly created franchisors in the following years. The evidence indicated a drastic decay in survival after only a few years and contrasts with the higher survival of firms in the franchising firms in more developed economies. Survival functions were obtained by means of the Kaplan-Meier estimator for the selected sectors and indicated sharp declines in survival rates over time but with differential patterns across sectors. Finally, an econometric analysis based on Cox's proportional hazard model was considered by exploring explanatory variables pertaining size, age and support regarding legal aspects, location choice and training. The evidence indicates that those supports provided by the franchisor have a positive impact on the probability of survival of new firms whereas there is partial evidence favoring a positive role for firm size on survival
Productive Agglomerations of Suppliers in the Automotive Industry: A Way to Maximize Competitiveness in Supply Chain Management.
The objective of this paper is to identify how the automotive industries maximize the competitiveness in supply chain management through the constitution of entrepreneurial productive agglomerations of suppliers. For this purpose, an applied research was carried out, and the technical procedure utilized was bibliographic review based in some researches about Brazilian industrial condominiums. Thus, through the constitution of entrepreneurial agglomerations of suppliers in automotive industry it is possible to obtain logistic advantages in the transporting, stocking and warehousing activities. Besides, it is possible to maximize the supply chain management competitiveness through the establishment of trust and lasting relationships between the components of the whole chain. The use of animal processed proteins and fat on the growth performance of rainbow trout (Onchorynchus mykiss)
Inicialmente foram formuladas 4 dietas (CTRL, PAP2, PAP3 and PAP4).
This text reflects on how the process of literary reading has a relevant role in social and pedagogical practice, outside and inside school spaces, as it explores the poem Canto dos Palmares, by Solano Trindade (1961), in its process of creation and networks of meanings provoked in its reader. The concepts of identity, ancestry and belonging are rescued in the poem's verses and through the construction of performative images and musicality that are incorporated into the acts of creation and reading, which are inserted into a rhythm that goes back to black people's practices of resistance and struggle. And present themselves as indispensable devices for teaching and social practice. Discussions about the roles of literature and literary reading in raising awareness and in the fight for social transformation are coupled with thinking about literary work as a place of emancipation and liberation. This entire journey is permeated by the presence of Élio Ferreira de Souza (2006), bell hooks (2019), Ngugi Wa Thiong´o(1981) and Leda Martins(2011), among others, for the discussion of the social and cultural perspectives of literature and by João Adolfo Hansen(2005) and Carlos Felipe Moisés(1996) for analyzing the roles of literary reading and the Reader.O presente texto traz a reflexão de como o processo de leitura literária tem papel relevante na prática social e pedagógica, fora e dentro dos espaços escolares, a medida que explora o poema Canto dos Palmares, de Solano Trindade(1961), no seu processo de criação e de redes de significações provocadas em seu leitor.
