    Polarimetric properties of indoor MIMO channels for different floor levels in a residential house

    This paper analyzes polarimetric characteristics of power delay profiles (PDPs), cross polarization discrimination (XPD), and received power of specular and diffuse multipath components of indoor MIMO radio channels at 2.45 GHz. Measurements were done in a residential house at two floors levels: "same floor" and "cross floor". Variations of 5 to 15 dB in PDPs between co-and cross-polar links were found in the same floor level; however these changes decrease as radio links move from line-of-sight to non-line-of-sight propagations. XPDs of radio waves were found to be higher for cross floor configuration, about 5 dB in horizontally and 7 dB in vertically polarized waves. Also, diffuse components of channels were less affected compared to that of specular components in same floor setups for cross-polar links. Our results demonstrate that the contribution of diffuse components to total channel power is higher than previously presented studies for large industrial indoor environments

    Color Image Watermarking using JND Sampling Technique

    This paper presents a color image watermarking scheme using Just Noticeable Difference (JND) Sampling Technique in spatial domain. The nonlinear JND Sampling technique is based on physiological capabilities and limitations of human vision. The quantization levels have been computed using the technique for each of the basic colors R, G and B respectively for sampling color images. A watermark is scaled to half JND image and is added to the JND sampled image at known spatial position. For transmission of the image over a channel, the watermarked image has been represented using Reduced Biquaternion (RB) numbers. The original image and the watermark are retrieved using the proposed algorithms. The detection and retrieval techniques presented in this paper have been quantitatively benchmarked with a few contemporary algorithms using MSE and PSNR.     Finger Knuckle Based Biometric Identifier Using Principal Component Analysis, Feature Extraction and K-NN Classifier

    Amidst several biometric measures, the figure knuckle surface is becoming a preferred choice of researchers due to its natural ease of reproducibility and verification. For any purpose of personal identification or crime analysis, figure knuckles surface do not need to be a voluntarily presented, they get exposed naturally. Specific line pattern on the figure knuckle surfaces can be used as effective biometric measure on their own or in combination with other biometrics. Present paper demonstrates the development of a figure knuckle based biometric identification system. The system incorporates principal component analysis (PCA) for feature extraction out of pre-processed and enhanced input image as extracted from knuckle surface video capture. Secondly the system employs k-nn classifier as personal identification algorithm. The system has been tested, verified and validated with many sample test experiments. The paper illustrates the working of the system with detailed intermittent snapshots

    Study of association of non alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) with micro and macrovascular complications of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)

    Background: Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) is a common liver disorder that is strongly associated with insulin resistance and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). This study was designed to determine the prevalence of NAFLD among T2DM patients and to evaluate whether there is an association between NAFLD and diabetic micro-and macro vascular complications.Methods: In a cross-sectional design study, 120 type 2 diabetic patients were submitted to a complete clinical and laboratory evaluation and abdominal ultrasonography for NAFLD detection and grading. They were divided into fatty liver group and non-fatty liver group and various laboratory and clinical variables were compared in these two groups. Statistical analysis included bivariate tests, chi square test, univariate and multivariate logistic regression.Results: Out of 120 type 2 diabetic patients, 68 (56.66%) had fatty liver on ultrasonography. An increase in the waist circumference, BMI, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and levels of HBA1c, AST, ALT, Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides and a decrease in HDL was observed in the fatty liver group as compared to non-fatty liver group. NAFLD group had higher prevalence of retinopathy (67.67% vs. 17.30%, P <0.001), neuropathy (52.94% vs. 19.23%, P = 0.0002), nephropathy (83.82% vs.53.84%, P = 0.0003). The prevalence of CAD (70.58% vs. 21.11%, P <0.0001) and POVD (10.25% vs. 0%, P <0.05) was higher in NAFLD patients. All patients with severe fibrosis had raised BMI, HbA1c and hypertension. The results of multiple logistic regression analysis showed that NAFLD was associated with BMI, HbA1c, Triglyceride and CAD. Univariate analysis showed significant association between retinopathy, neuropathy, CAD, POVD and NAFLD.Conclusion: Cognitive. The prevalence of NAFLD is higher in type 2 diabetic patients. Obesity, dysglycemia, dyslipidemia, elevated liver enzymes and coronary artery disease are seen to be significantly associated with fatty liver than non-fatty liver type 2 diabetic patients.

    Migratory locust, Locusta migratoria (Acrididae: Orthoptera) is a serious oligophagous pest of agriculture, found mostly in African, Asian and Australian continents. A bacterium isolated from eggs of L. migratoria was identified as Bacillus cereus CSBRLE2. The pathogenic effects of B. cereus on development and various tissues and haemolymph protein in L. migratoria have been investigated. Third instar nymphs were starved and inoculated with 10 ìl of bacterial suspension having concentration of 8x108 cfu/ml. The individuals were maintained in the laboratory up to adult maturation and egg laying. Body weight of the B. cereus inoculated individuals significantly reduced as compared to control. High mortality and lower fecundity and hatching percentage observed in the groups inoculated with bacterium. Inoculation of bacteria reduced the total haemolymph protein in&nbsp; adults as compared to control. The present study demonstrates that B. cereus could be used against L. migratoria in combination with other viable agents to help in management of locust and grasshoppers population in the field

    Design of binary circuit is restricted by the necessity of the interconnection. A conceivable arrangement could be touched base at by utilizing a bigger arrangement of signs over the same chip region. Quaternary outlines are picking up significance from that point of view. In this paper we design two types of full adder based on quaternary logic is proposed which will reduced the parameter such as area, power, and delay. The feature of this full adder is based on one hot encoding technique and binary encoding technique. All the design is using 180nm CMOS techniques. Sum and carry blocks are handled in two separate square controlled by the code generator unit. Plan check will be done by tanner tools
