Clinical and radiographic observation of the periodontium in patients undergoing orthodontic therapy: first twenty-seven months
Thesis (MSD) --Boston University (Periodontics).Includes bibliographic references: leaves 84-89.Twenty-two male patients from 12-14 years of age were selected prior to active orthodontic therapy at Boston University School of Graduate
Dentistry's Departmant of Orthodontics. These patients were projected
to undergo full-banded orthodontic treatnent.
The objective of this investigation was designed as a long tenn project
to document the quantitative and qualitative changes occurring in the
periodontium during and following orthodontic therapy.
The patients were examined for the first 9 month period by
Dr. Stuart Sears and Dr. Sergio Tejedor-Leon.
Relocation of two families reduced the number of patients to twenty
which were examined for the second 9 nonth period by Dr. Robert E. Roe
and Dr. Robert P. Rubins. [TRUNCATED

Interaction of the solar wind with a planetary ionosphere
An electrodynamic model for an ionosphere-solar wind interaction is developed based on the existence of a low beta plasma below the anemopause. The currents for the interaction are driven by the solar wind motional electric field and induce a stagnation magnetic field at the anemopause. For Venus and Mars the lower region of the ionosphere near the electron density peak has the highest conductivity, and therefore the tangential component of the induction current flows substantially in this region. The current paths close in the anemopause, which is a solar wind current sheath analogous to the magnetopause. Both the fraction of the undisturbed solar wind motional electric field, which drives the induction current, and the required fraction of incident solar wind particles, crossing the anemopause to produce this current, are shown to be small
THE CRANE LAKE CONNECTION
The purpose of this report is two-fold: (1) to provide current estimates of the recreational activities, or uses in the newly-established Voyageurs National Park that are dependent upon Crane Lake as a means of access or source of supplies, (2) to examine Crane Lake as an operating community in relationship to its physical resource base, its service to the larger society, and to the public services and agencies with which it must interact.Resource /Energy Economics and Policy,

Don't cancel the surgery just yet! A case report of positive preoperative pregnancy test due to a soft tissue sarcoma production of ectopic beta human chorionic gonadotropin.
Soft tissue sarcomas are a rare group of mesenchymal malignancies which can range from low to high grade. These tumors have different clinical, radiographic, and histopathological characteristics. Beta human chorionic gonadotropin is a naturally secreted hormone by placental syncytiotrophoblast cells during pregnancy. On very rare occasions, sarcomas can develop the ability to ectopically produce human chorionic gonadotropin. Very few cases exist in the literature of soft tissue sarcomas expressing this hormone. We report the case of a 55-year-old female who presented with a posterior thigh soft tissue sarcoma who on the day of surgical resection was found to have an unusually elevated serum human chorionic gonadotropin. Positive immunohistochemical staining of the resected mass confirmed the sarcoma as the source of the beta human chorionic gonadotropin
