Proceedings of the third French-Ukrainian workshop on the instrumentation developments for HEP
The reports collected in these proceedings have been presented in the third
French-Ukrainian workshop on the instrumentation developments for high-energy
physics held at LAL, Orsay on October 15-16. The workshop was conducted in the
scope of the IDEATE International Associated Laboratory (LIA). Joint
developments between French and Ukrainian laboratories and universities as well
as new proposals have been discussed. The main topics of the papers presented
in the Proceedings are developments for accelerator and beam monitoring,
detector developments, joint developments for large-scale high-energy and
astroparticle physics projects, medical applications.Comment: 3rd French-Ukrainian workshop on the instrumentation developments for

First Results from the AMoRE-Pilot neutrinoless double beta decay experiment
The Advanced Molybdenum-based Rare process Experiment (AMoRE) aims to search
for neutrinoless double beta decay (0) of Mo with
100 kg of Mo-enriched molybdenum embedded in cryogenic detectors
with a dual heat and light readout. At the current, pilot stage of the AMoRE
project we employ six calcium molybdate crystals with a total mass of 1.9 kg,
produced from Ca-depleted calcium and Mo-enriched molybdenum
(CaMoO). The simultaneous detection of
heat(phonon) and scintillation (photon) signals is realized with high
resolution metallic magnetic calorimeter sensors that operate at milli-Kelvin
temperatures. This stage of the project is carried out in the Yangyang
underground laboratory at a depth of 700 m. We report first results from the
AMoRE-Pilot search with a 111 kgd live exposure of
CaMoO crystals. No evidence for
decay of Mo is found, and a upper limit is set for the
half-life of 0 of Mo of y at 90% C.L.. This limit corresponds to an effective
Majorana neutrino mass limit in the range eV
Complete event-by-event α/γ(β) separation in a full-size TeO2 CUORE bolometer by simultaneous heat and light detection
The CUORE project began recently a search for neutrinoless double-beta decay () of Te with a (1 ton) TeO bolometer array. In this experiment, the background suppression relies essentially on passive shielding, material radiopurity and anti-coincidences. The lack of particle identification in CUORE makes decays at the detector surface the dominant background, at the level of 0.01 counts/(keV kg y) in the region of interest (-value of of the order of 2.5 MeV). In the present work we demonstrate, for the first time with a CUORE-size (555 cm) TeO bolometer and using the same technology as CUORE for the readout of the bolometric signals, an efficient particle discrimination (99.9\%) with a high acceptance of the signal (about 96\%). This unprecedented result was possible thanks to the superior performance (10 eV RMS baseline noise) of a Neganov-Luke-assisted germanium bolometer used to detect a tiny (70 eV) light signal dominated by ()-induced Cherenkov radiation in the TeO detector. The obtained results represent a major breakthrough towards the TeO-based version of CUPID, a ton-scale cryogenic experiment proposed as a follow-up to CUORE with particle identification
Measurement of the cosmogenic activation of germanium detectors in EDELWEISS-III
International audienceWe present a measurement of the cosmogenic activation in the germanium cryogenic detectors of the EDELWEISS III direct dark matter search experiment. The decay rates measured in detectors with different exposures to cosmic rays above ground are converted into production rates of different isotopes. The measured production rates in units of nuclei/kg/day are 82 21 for H, 2.8 0.6 for V, 4.6 0.7 for Fe, and 106 13 for Zn. These results are the most accurate for these isotopes. A lower limit on the production rate of Ge of 74 nuclei/kg/day is also presented. They are compared to model predictions present in literature and to estimates calculated with the ACTIVIA code
