Study of reactions induced by 6He on 9Be
We present the results of experiments using a 6He beam on a 9Be target at\ud
energies 7 − 9 times the Coulomb barrier. Angular distributions of the elastic, inelastic\ud
scattering (target breakup) and the -particle production in the 6He+9Be collision have\ud
been analysed. Total reaction cross sections were obtained from the elastic scattering\ud
analyses and a considerable enhancement has been observed by comparing to stable systems.FAPESPFundação Araucári
The Li-8(p, alpha)He-5 reaction at low energies, and Be-9 spectroscopy around the proton threshold
We present a direct measurement of the low-energy Li-8(p, alpha)He-5 cross section, using a radioactive Li-8 beam impinging on a thick target. With four beam energies, we cover the energy range between E-c.m. = 0.2 and 2.1 MeV. An R-matrix analysis of the data is performed and suggests the existence of two broad overlapping resonances (5/2(+) at E-c.m. = 1.69 MeV and 7/2(+) at E-c.m. = 1.76 MeV). At low energies our data are sensitive to the properties of a subthreshold state (E-x = 16.67 MeV) and of two resonances above threshold. These resonances were observed in previous experiments. The R-matrix fit confirms spin assignments, and provides partial widths. We propose a new Li-8(p, alpha)He-5 reaction rate and briefly discuss its influence in nuclear astrophysics. "MEASUREMENTS OF RESONANT ELASTIC SCATTERING 17O + p"
Angular distributions of the elastic scattering 17O + p and of the transfer reaction p(17O, a)14N have been measured at the energies, ECM = 1.39 and 2.33 MeV. The 17O beam was produced by the Pelletron accelerator at the energies of 25 and 42 MeV. The measurements have been performed using plastic targets of aluminized mylar (C10H10O4) and polyethylene (CH2) with thicknesses 354µg/cm² and 6mg/cm², respectively. The experimental angular distributions of the elastic scattering and of the transfer reaction have been analyzed by optical model and Distorted Waves Born Approximation (DWBA) calculations, both taking into account the compound nucleus contribution via Hauser-Feshbach calculations. At 42 MeV, an excitation function of the elastic scattering has been measured using the Resonant Scattering Method with thick targets of (CH2). Resonances in the 18F compound nucleus are observed
Study of light exotic nuclei 6He,7Be+9Be systems.
A study of the elastic scattering and nuclear reactions in light exotic systems 6He+9Be and 7Be+9Be is presented. The 6He+9Be collision was measured at the energies Elab = 16.2 MeV and 21.3 MeV, using the RIBRAS system (Radioactive Ion Beams in Brasil) of the Institute of Physics of the University of São Paulo. Angular distributions of the elastic and inelastic scattering and the alpha-particles production in the 6He+9Be collision were measured. The elastic scattering angular distributions were analyzed by Optical Model, Coupled Channels (CC) and Continuum- Discretization Coupled-Channels (CDCC) calculations. The total reaction cross section was obtained from the elastic scattering analysis. The alpha-particle angular distributions were compared with the results of the CDCC calculations for the breakup of the 6He projectile and CC for the breakup of the 9Be target and the angle-integrated cross section have been obtained. The data for the 7Be+9Be quasielastic scattering has been measured at Elab = 23.7 MeV at CRC Radioactive Beam Facility at Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. The quasielastic angular distribution was analyzed firstly using the optical model formalism, which provided the potential for the 7Be+9Be interaction and a normalization factor for the experimental data that was not obtained in the experiment. The contribution of the inelastic excitation of the 7Be nucleus to quasielastic cross sections and the influence of the states of the continuum in the elastic scattering were investigated by Coupled Channels and CDCC calculations. The total reaction cross section 7Be+9Be has been obtained and compared with the 6He+9Be system and other systems of the literature
Measurement of oxygen atom diffusion in Nb and Ta by anelastic spectroscopy
Impurity interstitial atoms present in metals with BCC structure can diffuse in the metallic matrix by jumps to energetically equivalent crystallographic sites. Anelastic spectroscopy (internal friction) is based on the measurement of mechanical loss or internal friction as a function of temperature. Due to its selective and nondestructive nature, anelastic spectroscopy is well suited for the study of diffusion of interstitial elements in metals. Internal friction measurements were made using the torsion pendulum technique with oscillation frequency of a few Hz, temperature interval from 300 to 700 K, heating rate of about 1 K/min, and vacuum better than 10-5 mbar. The polycrystalline Nb and Ta samples used were supplied by Aldrich Inc. The results obtained showed thermally activated relaxation structures due to stress-induced ordering of oxygen atoms around the Nb (or Ta) atoms of the metallic matrix. The results were interpreted by three methods and led to activation enthalpy values for the diffusion of oxygen in Nb and Ta of 1.15 eV and 1.10 eV, respectively

Alpha-particle production in the 6He+120Sn collision
Alpha particle energy distributions in the 6He+120Sn collision have been measured at 7 bombarding energies above the Coulomb barrier. A phenomenological analysis of the centroids of the experimental distributions was performed and compared with the expected alpha-particle energies from breakup and neutron transfer reactions. Q-optimum conditions were determined using the Brinks formula for the di-neutron transfer reaction. A comparison of the measured alpha-particle production cross-sections with Continuum Discretized Coupled Channels (CDCC) calculations for breakup is presented.Fundacao de Amparo `a Pesquisa no Estado de Sao Paulo 2013/22100-7, 2014/19666-1Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cientıfico e Tecnologico 308935/2018-7Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad FIS2017-88410-PEuropean Union 65400
Recent results with radioactive ion beams in Brasil (RIBRAS)
The RIBRAS facility (Radiactive Ion Beams in Brasil) is installed next to the 8 MV Pelletron Tandem of the Nuclear Physics Laboratory of the Institute of Physics of the University of São Paulo. It consists of two superconducting solenoids with maximum magnetic field of B=6.5T. Light radioactive ion beams are produced through transfer reactions, using solid or gaseous production targets of Be, LiF, 3He etc. The solenoids make a magnetic rigidity selection and the use of the two solenoids with a degrader between them allows the production of quite pure secondary beams. Beams of 6He, 8Li, 7Be, 10Be, 8B, 12B are currently produced and used to study elastic, inelastic, and transfer reactions on a variety of light, medium mass and heavy secondary targets. Some examples of reactions recently studied are presented below. © 2012 American Institute of Physics.SCOPUS: cp.pinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
