    Get PDF
The basic precondition, when it comes to the spatial comfort of social housing units is to create residential space which will, in addition to health, hygiene and sanitary minimum, also provide optimal conditions for proper psycho-social development of the users. Previous researches showed that the most relevant criteria, regarding the unit’s spatial comfort, are: size, spatial arrangement and adaptability of housing space, but also the existence of private open areas. Upon these criteria the evaluation model for the valorization of the spatial comfort of social housing units will be formed. This model will further be used for the analysis of the buildings constructed for this purpose in the city of Niš, Serbia

Social housing, which, due to its physical characteristics, would be able to provide not just adequate physical, but also psychosocial development of its users, is the only sustainable model for the development of this type of housing. This is especially important in the less developed countries, where the positive social potential of social housing development is almost invisible. Sustainable social housing should respond to the most complex, and often very specific, needs of its users, both in terms of the quality of the housing units and its immediate residential surroundings. The right to equality is only the first step towards the development of a sustainable social housing. The size of the dwelling unit, its spatial organization, the quality of the living environment and its visual aspect shouldn’t in any way affect the discrimination and exclusion of social housing and its users. In addition, considering that social housing facilities are used by different types of socially vulnerable categories, the architectural and urban planning approach should minimize the problems of limited mobility and the lack of financial resources that decrees some aspects of housing quality. The aim of this research is to improve the methodology of architectural and urban planning and design of social housing units in order to ensure their functional and social sustainability. The research gives the definition of a reference spatial framework for the development of this type of housing upon which the relevant architectural and urban criteria are formulated. The defined criteria relate to the structural, functional and design characteristics of social housing facilities. As the research is limited to the micro-level of planning - the level of the plot - three characteristic spatial levels are recognized: the level of the urban structure (plot), the level of the architectural structure and the level (building) of the housing unit (dwellings). By defining a multi-criteria model, it is possible to analyze the quality of social housing facilities and dwellings, particularly the domestic model framework. Its implementation allows to observe the potential spatial performance of future social housing objects, as well as the valorization of the achieved quality of built-up areas of this type. The synthesis of the research results defines the directions for improving the domestic model of social housing, through the development of design guidelines, recommendations for regulation correction and development of the pilot project

House-like apartments are intended as a compromise between the opposing aspirations of the modern city dweller ‒ to live in a quiet family home in greenery in the suburbs and to live in a dense, bustling and vibrant city. These are apartments in multi-family housing buildings that have some features of single-family houses in order to increase the comfort of life, the feeling of dwelling in a family home and generally to improve the quality of housing in urban areas. This paper first deals with a comparative analysis of the features of family houses and apartments by certain criteria in order to determine what makes houses better than apartments, ie. to define what are the features of family houses that make this type of housing higher quality and more attractive and can be applied to apartments. Then, an overview of some realized contemporary housing schemes with apartments having the characteristics of houses was given. Finally, features of house-like apartments were identified, their detailed analysis with illustrations through appropriate examples was provided and the importance of their application was explained.

Social housing models, which had began to develop during the last century, for their only objective had a need to overcome the housing problems of socially vulnerable categories. However, numerous studies have shown that these social categories, because of their low social status, are highly susceptible to various psychological and sociological problems. On the other hand a low level of quality, which was common for social housing dwellings, has further aggravated these problems by initiating trouble behaviours among tenants, affecting social exclusion and segregation. Contemporary social housing models are therefore conceptualized in a way to provide a positive psycho-sociological impact on their tenants. Therefore the planning approach in social housing should be such to: support important functions in daily life routines; promote tolerance and cooperation; influence on a sense of social order and belonging; affect the socialization of the tenant and their integration into the wider community; and improve social cohesion. Analysis of the influential location parameters of immediate and wider social housing environment strive to define the ones relevant to the life quality of social housing tenants and therefore influence on the sustainability of social housing model

The application of coloured and optical glass in architecture is of great importance in terms of creating spatial dynamics and uniqueness of space. Dichroic glass is a type of glass coated with a thin layer of metal, which causes the glass surface to change in colour depending on the viewing angle. The colour of the glass depends on the incidence of different wavelengths of light passing through or bouncing off the glass surface, thus creating different effects of colour refraction. Created effects provide different possibilities in the design of buildings and improvements in the aesthetic quality of the interior space. This paper deals with the analysis and application of coloured dichroic glass in architecture and interior design.

'That architectonic exhibitions are an indispensable and significant part of the history of architecture has been proven by numerous exhibitions dating back from the first decades of the 20th century, the Paris exhibitions (Salon d'Automne), where three manifest exhibition designs by Le Corbusier were presented, promoting a new system of values of the forthcoming modernist movement, then the Berlin exhibitions in the second half of the 20th century (Interbau 1957, IBA 1987) where the Postmodern was promoted, up to the second decade of the 21st century and the Biennial in Venice (La Biennale di Venezia, 2014), whose uniting topic was One Hundred Years of ,Modernity' (prof arch Darko Marušić, quote from the catalogue of the HOUSING 15). HOUSING 15 is an exhibition that was created on the initiative of the Department of Residential Building, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, University of Nis, in order to present the modern housing architecture at the global level. The exhibition was shown at the BINA 2016 and was followed by a round table discussion upon the topic Contemporary moment of residential architecture at the global level. The idea of the round table was to compare domestic and international experience in this field and draw attention toward the attitude on the present, electronic time considering the development of the residential architecture. The specificity of this exhibition, compared to the other events of a similar nature, is that in addition to architectural design the scientific expert reviews for the selected works are also presented, given by the international scientific and artistic committee of the exhibition. The paper is the summary of the discussion held at the round table, and it presents the potential problems, answers and conclusions relating to residential architecture today from the professional perspective
