Deep Learning for Semantic Part Segmentation with High-Level Guidance
In this work we address the task of segmenting an object into its parts, or
semantic part segmentation. We start by adapting a state-of-the-art semantic
segmentation system to this task, and show that a combination of a
fully-convolutional Deep CNN system coupled with Dense CRF labelling provides
excellent results for a broad range of object categories. Still, this approach
remains agnostic to high-level constraints between object parts. We introduce
such prior information by means of the Restricted Boltzmann Machine, adapted to
our task and train our model in an discriminative fashion, as a hidden CRF,
demonstrating that prior information can yield additional improvements. We also
investigate the performance of our approach ``in the wild'', without
information concerning the objects' bounding boxes, using an object detector to
guide a multi-scale segmentation scheme. We evaluate the performance of our
approach on the Penn-Fudan and LFW datasets for the tasks of pedestrian parsing
and face labelling respectively. We show superior performance with respect to
competitive methods that have been extensively engineered on these benchmarks,
as well as realistic qualitative results on part segmentation, even for
occluded or deformable objects. We also provide quantitative and extensive
qualitative results on three classes from the PASCAL Parts dataset. Finally, we
show that our multi-scale segmentation scheme can boost accuracy, recovering

Does the Sigma(1580)3/2- resonance exist?
Precise new data for the reaction are presented in
the c.m. energy range 1565 to 1600 MeV. Our analysis of these data sheds new
light on claims for the resonance, which (if it exists
with the specified quantum numbers) must be an exotic baryon because of its
very low mass. Our results show no evidence for this state.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Measurement of Inverse Pion Photoproduction at Energies Spanning the N(1440) Resonance
Differential cross sections for the process pi^- p -> gamma n have been
measured at Brookhaven National Laboratory's Alternating Gradient Synchrotron
with the Crystal Ball multiphoton spectrometer. Measurements were made at 18
pion momenta from 238 to 748 MeV/c, corresponding to E_gamma for the inverse
reaction from 285 to 769 MeV. The data have been used to evaluate the gamma n
multipoles in the vicinity of the N(1440) resonance. We compare our data and
multipoles to previous determinations. A new three-parameter SAID fit yields 36
+/- 7 (GeV)^-1/2 X 10^-3 for the A^n_1/2 amplitude of the P_11.Comment: 14 pages, 8 figures, submitted to PR

First Results from The GlueX Experiment
The GlueX experiment at Jefferson Lab ran with its first commissioning beam
in late 2014 and the spring of 2015. Data were collected on both plastic and
liquid hydrogen targets, and much of the detector has been commissioned. All of
the detector systems are now performing at or near design specifications and
events are being fully reconstructed, including exclusive production of
, and mesons. Linearly-polarized photons were
successfully produced through coherent bremsstrahlung and polarization transfer

Measurement of GEp/GMp in ep -> ep to Q2 = 5.6 GeV2
The ratio of the electric and magnetic form factors of the proton, GEp/GMp,
was measured at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) using
the recoil polarization technique. The ratio of the form factors is directly
proportional to the ratio of the transverse to longitudinal components of the
polarization of the recoil proton in the elastic
reaction. The new data presented in this article span the range 3.5 < Q2 < 5.6
GeV2 and are well described by a linear Q2 fit. Also, the ratio QF2p/F1p

Q^2 Evolution of the Neutron Spin Structure Moments using a He-3 Target
We have measured the spin structure functions and of He in a
double-spin experiment by inclusively scattering polarized electrons at
energies ranging from 0.862 to 5.07 GeV off a polarized He target at a
15.5 scattering angle. Excitation energies covered the resonance and
the onset of the deep inelastic regions. We have determined for the first time
the evolution of ,
and for the neutron in the range 0.1 GeV 0.9 GeV with good precision. displays a smooth
variation from high to low . The Burkhardt-Cottingham sum rule holds

Measurement of the Generalized Forward Spin Polarizabilities of the Neutron
The generalized forward spin polarizabilities and of
the neutron have been extracted for the first time in a range from 0.1 to
0.9 GeV. Since is sensitive to nucleon resonances and
is insensitive to the resonance, it is expected that the
pair of forward spin polarizabilities should provide benchmark tests of the
current understanding of the chiral dynamics of QCD. The new results on
show significant disagreement with Chiral Perturbation Theory
calculations, while the data for at low are in good agreement
with a next-to-lead order Relativistic Baryon Chiral Perturbation theory
