A contribution to the knowledge of the skin albuminose cells of Torpedo ocellata Raf [Riv.Istochim.norm.pat. 8 411-416, 1962]

Glandular cells, other than the mucous cells, have been described in the skin of various groups of fish (Teleosts, Ganoids, Selachii) and they have been called 'albuminose' by various authors. The authors propose to study the albuminose cells in the skin of Torpedo ocellata Raf. from a histochemical point of view. The albuminose cells have a complex morphological structure and a correspondingly complicated histochemical make-up. One must treat them as an example of cell with secretions of a particular type, which must and will be better incorporated when more is known of characteristics existent in other species

Some energy conservative schemes for vibro-impacts of a beam on rigid obstacles

Caused by the problem of unilateral contact during vibrations of satellite solar arrays, the aim of this paper is to better understand such a phenomenon. Therefore, it is studied here a simplified model composed by a beam moving between rigid obstacles. Our purpose is to describe and compare some families of fully discretized approximations and their properties, in the case of non-penetration Signorini’s conditions. For this, starting from the works of Dumont and Paoli, we adapt to our beam model the singular dynamic method introduced by Renard. A particular emphasis is given in the use of a restitution coefficient in the impact law. Finally, various numerical results are presented and energy conservation capabilities of the schemes are investigated

Particle yields in heavy ion collisions and the influence of strong magnetic fields

It is expected that the magnetic field in the surface of magnetars do not exceed 101510^{15} G. However, in heavy ion collisions, this value is expected to be much higher. We investigate the effects of a magnetic fields varying from 101810^{18}, to 102010^{20} G in strange matter (composed of uu, dd and ss quarks). We model matter as a free gas of baryons and mesons under the influence of an external magnetic field. We study the effects of such strong fields through a χ2\chi^2 fit to some data sets of the STAR experiment. For this purpose we solve the Dirac, Rarita-Schwinger, Klein-Gordon and Proca equations subject to magnetic fields in order to obtain the energy expressions and the degeneracy for spin 1/2, spin 3/2, spin 0 and spin 1 particles, respectively. Our results show that a field of the order of 101910^{19} G produces an improved fitting to the experimental data as compared to the calculations without magnetic field.Comment: 20 pages, 16 figures, 4 table

Socio-economic critique, cognitive engagement and gender roles in Carlo Lizzani’s 'La Celestina P.. R..'

Comparison of mean distance in superposed networks

AbstractIn this paper, we consider the problem of the superposition of two networks in the structure of local telecommunication networks: the physical one, determined by the ways of the means of communication, and the interconnection one. We compare the mean-distance of the graphs associated to these two networks

State and parameter estimation approach to monitoring AGR nuclear core

This work concerns with the problem of monitoring an Advanced Gas-cooled Nuclear Reactor (AGR) core. This plant (figure 1) makes use of the heat given by the nuclear efficient reaction to produce electricity by means of steam turbines. These are driven by steam, which is heated, from the AGR gas using a heat exchanger. One of the advantages of a gas cooled reactor is the high temperature that the gas can achieve so that when it is used in conjunction with the heat exchanger and steamed turbine the thermal efficiency is very high
