Fabrications of extruded aluminum alloy structures are reviewed. The design criteria and the fabrication of the main structure of a sailplane wing made of a few extruded profiles longitudinally connected one to the other are illustrated. Structural tests recently carried out are reported upon

Spin-torque generation by dc or ac voltages in magnetic layered structures

A general expression of the current induced spin torque in a magnetic layered structure in the presence of external dc or ac voltages is derived in the framework of the scattering matrix approach. A detailed analysis is performed for a magnetic-nonmagnetic-magnetic trilayer connected to external leads in the presence of dc voltage bias in the ballistic regime. Alternatively, the possibility of producing spin torque by means of the adiabatic ac modulation of external gate voltages (quantum pumping) is proposed and discussed

Factors Influencing Readers When Matching Texts to Struggling Students

Teachers at every scholastic level search for the best pedagogical practices for their particular classroom and students. The method of leveling, a strategy in which teachers assess the instructional level of a text in order to properly match books with an individual reader, is used increasingly in literacy programs at the elementary level. Books are “leveled” by using a formula that measures sentence and word difficulty. This research project examines how students interact with various texts and explores student fluency, expression, comprehension, and re-telling. The research examines student accuracy rates, self-corrections, and miscue analysis. It considers what text features teachers should include before placing students at specific reading levels. The project identifies other factors that may influence student placement with regard to reading level such as individual socioeconomic and family background as well as features within the text like font size, syllabic number, and oral language. Two specific questions center the research: In what ways does each specific text influence how a teacher sees the reader? Does a reader’s fluency, expression, comprehension, and re-telling vary among different texts? This study was conducted in a western New York suburban district with three, fifth grade students struggling with reading deficits which included both reading comprehension and decoding skills. Research data was gathered using Fountas and Pinnell 2008 Leveling System Kit. Conclusions noted student background knowledge and personal interest as assets in understanding the individual profile of readers and in assessing appropriate material. Recommendations acknowledge the need for more reading practice both at home and in classroom as well as knowing students on a personal as well as academic level

Construction project management planning will require manpower requirements, the calculation of labor cost budget, number of employees, the arrangement of activities and time required to complete each activity. So far, only managing assessments of workforce needs. This is because of the experience and do not know the technical calculations in calculating labor costs. As a result, the project failed and declining consumer confidence.Handling solutions to create budget planning application labor costs in building construction projects. The system is built to calculate the labor requirements, needs labor costs, and time required to complete the project. This application generates information report labor cost budget plan, the amount of manpower needs, and schedulling of the project. Based on the result of experiments performed, the application can help the process of planning manpower requirements, and planning labor costs in building construction projects

Normal categories of normed algebra of finite rank bounded operators

In this article, we introduce the normal category L(S) [R(S)] of principal left [right] ideals of the normed algebra S of all finite rank bounded operators on a Hilbert space H and is shown that they are isomorphic, using Hilbert space duality. We also described the semigroup of all normal cones in L(S) which is isomorphic to the semigroup of all finite rank operators on H. Further, we construct bounded normal cones in L(S) such that the set of all bounded normal cones in L(S) is a normed algebra isomorphic to the normed algebra S.Comment: 16 pages 0 figur
