    Antecedents of Expatriate Spouse Adjustment: An Analysis of Japanese Spouses in the United States

The study extends, both conceptually and methodologically, the limited research on spouse adjustment by testing the effects of language profciency and educational level on adjustment. Furthermore, it is the first study to survey non US respondents in their native language. In the end, we found that time since arrival, educational level, language proficiency, and willingness to communicate are directly related to spouse adjustment

    Does Industry 5.0 Reproduce Gender (In)equalities at Organisations? Understanding the Interaction of Human Resources and Software Development Teams in Supplying Human Capitals

    The aim of this study is to illustrate the significance of human resources and software development teams in the process of value co-creation, specifically in the provision of human capital within the framework of Industry 5.0. This investigation takes into account ethical considerations, machine ethics, and gender inequalities. In order to achieve this aim, we conduct semi-structured in-depth qualitative interviews with 12 Human Resources Specialists and 12 Computer Engineers in large scale organisations in Turkey. As a theoretical lens, we adopt modified grounded theory to explore the interaction of teams for demonstrating how they design and manage the digital process by considering the human–machine collaboration aspect of Industry 5.0. Based on the interviews, there are three main themes in the present research: digitalisation in tracking personnel data, ensuring ethical actions in digitalisation of organisational process, and reflections of digitalisation to gender inequality. Since studies on diversity and industry 5.0 are scarce, this research demonstrates the ethical and adverse aspects of industry 5.0, and how it reflects to gender inequality in organisations

    Color-dressed recursive relations for multi-parton amplitudes

    Remarkable progress inspired by twistors has lead to very simple analytic expressions and to new recursive relations for multi-parton color-ordered amplitudes. We show how such relations can be extended to include color and present the corresponding color-dressed formulation for the Berends-Giele, BCF and a new kind of CSW recursive relations. A detailed comparison of the numerical efficiency of the different approaches to the calculation of multi-parton cross sections is performed.Comment: 31 pages, 4 figures, 6 table

    On-shell recursion relations for all Born QCD amplitudes

    We consider on-shell recursion relations for all Born QCD amplitudes. This includes amplitudes with several pairs of quarks and massive quarks. We give a detailed description on how to shift the external particles in spinor space and clarify the allowed helicities of the shifted legs. We proof that the corresponding meromorphic functions vanish at z --> infinity. As an application we obtain compact expressions for helicity amplitudes including a pair of massive quarks, one negative helicity gluon and an arbitrary number of positive helicity gluons.Comment: 30 pages, minor change

    Double Parton Scattering Singularity in One-Loop Integrals

    We present a detailed study of the double parton scattering (DPS) singularity, which is a specific type of Landau singularity that can occur in certain one-loop graphs in theories with massless particles. A simple formula for the DPS singular part of a four-point diagram with arbitrary internal/external particles is derived in terms of the transverse momentum integral of a product of light cone wavefunctions with tree-level matrix elements. This is used to reproduce and explain some results for DPS singularities in box integrals that have been obtained using traditional loop integration techniques. The formula can be straightforwardly generalised to calculate the DPS singularity in loops with an arbitrary number of external particles. We use the generalised version to explain why the specific MHV and NMHV six-photon amplitudes often studied by the NLO multileg community are not divergent at the DPS singular point, and point out that whilst all NMHV amplitudes are always finite, certain MHV amplitudes do contain a DPS divergence. It is shown that our framework for calculating DPS divergences in loop diagrams is entirely consistent with the `two-parton GPD' framework of Diehl and Schafer for calculating proton-proton DPS cross sections, but is inconsistent with the `double PDF' framework of Snigirev.Comment: 29 pages, 8 figures.     Effect of iloprost on contractile impairment and mitochondrial degeneration in ischemia-reperfusion of skeletal muscle

    Purpose Acute lower extremity ischemia is still a main cause of mortality and morbidity in orthopedic traumatology and reconstructive surgery. In acute lower extremity ischemia, the skeletal muscles are the tissues that are the most vulnerable to ischemia. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of iloprost (IL) therapy on skeletal muscle contractile impairment and mitochondrial degeneration in an acute lower extremity ischemia-reperfusion rat model. Main Methods Forty Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into a control group and four experimental groups. Experimental groups were either subjected to 2 h of lower extremity ischemia followed by a 4-h reperfusion period or to 4 h of ischemia followed by an 8-h reperfusion period. Except for the animals in the control group, all animals received IL (1 ng/kg/min) or saline (1 ml/kg) by intraperitoneal infusion for 10 min immediately before reperfusion. At the end of the recording of skeletal muscle electrical activity and contractility, all rats were sacrificed by decapitation and muscle samples of lower extremity were immediately harvested for histopathologic analyses. Results After ischemia-reperfusion, a breakdown in the force–frequency curves of extensor digitorum longus muscle was observed, showing the diminished muscle contractility. However, IL significantly improved muscle contractility following injury induced by 2 h of ischemia followed by a 4-h reperfusion period. In addition, IL partially ameliorated mitochondrial degeneration in the muscle cells of ischemia groups. Conclusion This study indicates that immediate IL therapy repairs muscle damage especially after 2 h of ischemia and 4 h of reperfusion and therefore that IL improves contractile function

    Higgs production in gluon fusion at next-to-next-to-leading order QCD for finite top mass

    The inclusive Higgs production cross section from gluon fusion is calculated through NNLO QCD, including its top quark mass dependence. This is achieved through a matching of the 1/mtop expansion of the partonic cross sections to the exact large s-hat limits which are derived from k_T-factorization. The accuracy of this procedure is estimated to be better than 1% for the hadronic cross section. The final result is shown to be within 1% of the commonly used effective theory approach, thus confirming earlier findings.Comment: 28 pages, 14 figure

The basic ingredient is the NCQED counterpart of Yang-Mills recursion relations by means of Berends and Giele.     We present results for associated Higgs+n-jet production in bottom quark annihilation, for n=0 and n>=1 at NNLO and NLO accuracy, respectively.     Top-mass effects in differential Higgs production through gluon fusion at order \alpha_s^4

    Effects from a finite top quark mass on differential distributions in the Higgs+jet production cross section through gluon fusion are studied at next-to-leading order in the strong coupling, i.e. O(αs4)O(\alpha_s^4). Terms formally subleading in 1/mt1/m_t are calculated, and their influence on the transverse momentum and rapidity distribution of the Higgs boson are evaluated. We find that, for the differential K-factor, the heavy-top limit is valid at the 2-3% level as long as the transverse momentum of the Higgs remains below about 150 GeV.Comment: 21 pages, 12 figure
