AbstractInformation about a taboos of different ethnic groups could help to understand each other's sensitivity especially at the workplace in order to avoid any misunderstandings. Thus, this paper investigated the taboos in relation to intercultural communication among University Malaysia Terengganu personnel from three ethnic backgrounds. The research employed a mix-method approach, the combination of online survey and in-depth interview. Data were sequentially analysed using SPSS and thematic analysis. The interview findings indicate that Malay personnel do not know much about the taboo of other ethnic groups compare to their colleague from different ethnicity and concludes that Malay personnel should be more open towards others values

A Proposed Modeling Framework on Innovative Work Behavior among Employees in the Malaysian Islamic Banking Industry

    Get PDF
Responsible innovation has gained public interest in the Islamic banking industry in Malaysia. The study makes an effort to propose a modeling framework on factors affecting innovative work behavior among employees in the Malaysian Islamic banking industry. The proposed modelling framework will be based on previous literatures and the underpinning theories related to innovative work behavior. Based on the existing gaps, we propose two independent variables (i.e. Transformational leadership & personality) and a mediating variable (job satisfaction). In this study, five hypotheses are developed to determine the relationship between innovative work behavior and the determinant factors. Based on this framework, a pilot study will be conducted to test the validity and reliability of the model proposed. We expect the results to be consistent with previous research. Keywords: Islamic Banking, Innovative Work Behavior, Transformational Leadership, Personality, Job Satisfactio

Abstract— Over the past decade, the air travel passengers in Indonesia was recorded high and increased time to time. However, besides the big opportunities, the air travel providers have faced numerous issues such as airlines operation. In conjunction with the issue, this study aims to investigate the model of service supply chain and its relationship on repurchase intention in Lion Airlines. The design of this study is quantitative approach through survey questionnaire. A total of 200 passengers have participated in this study and the data analyzed using structural equation modeling that assisted by LISREL-8. The results of analysis show that Service supply chain and Complaint Handling have a significant and positive relationship on Corporate Image. Also, this study found that Delay has negatively and significant effect on Repurchase Intention. Service supply chain, Complaint Handling and Corporate Image have a significant positive relationship on Repurchase Intention. In conclusion, this study suggests the airlines must improve their strategies to provide the best service to passengers. It aims to increase their repurchase intention for Lion Airlines. Keywords— Service supply chain, Delay, Complaint Handling, Corporate Image, Repurchase Intention

Improving the potency of DNA vaccine against Chicken Anemia Virus (CAV) by fusing VP1 protein of CAV to Marek's Disease Virus (MDV) Type-1 VP22 protein

Studies have shown that the VP22 gene of Marek’s Disease Virus type-1 (MDV-1) has the property of movement between cells from the original cell of expression into the neighboring cells. The ability to facilitate the spreading of the linked proteins was used to improve the potency of the constructed DNA vaccines against chicken anemia virus (CAV). The VP1 and VP2 genes of CAV isolate SMSC-1 were amplified and inserted into eukaryotic co-expression vector, pBudCE4.1 to construct pBudVP2-VP1. We also constructed pBudVP2-VP1/VP22 encoding CAV VP2 and the VP22 of MDV-1 linked to the CAV VP1. In vitro expression of the genes was confirmed by using RT- PCR, Western blot and indirect immunofluorescence. The vaccines were then tested in 2-week-old SPF chickens which were inoculated with the DNA plasmid constructs by the intramuscular route. After in vivo expression studies, immune responses of the immunized chickens were evaluated pre- and post-immunization. Chickens vaccinated with pBudVP2-VP1/VP22 exhibited a significant increase in antibody titers to CAV and also proliferation induction of splenocytes in comparison to the chickens vaccinated with pBudVP2-VP1. Furthermore, the pBudVP2-VP1/VP22-vaccinated group showed higher level of the Th1 cytokines IL-2 and IFN-g. This study showed that MDV-1 VP22 gene is capable of enhancing the potency of DNA vaccine against CAV when fused with the CAV VP1 gene

Specific-pathogen free (SPF) chicken were inoculated with the plasmid combination and challenged with velogenic NDV. The antibody level against NVD was measured using commercial enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). In the first immunization regimen, SPF chickens inoculated twice with NDV-F or NDV-HN constructs elicited antibody responses 1 week after the second injection. However, the levels of the antibody were low and did not confer significant protection from the lethal challenge. In addition, admininistration of the plasmid constructs with Freund’s adjuvant did not improve the level of protection. In the second immunization regimen, chickens inoculsted trice with the plasmid constructs emulsified with Freund”s adjuvant induced significant antibody titers after the third injection. Three out of nine (33.3 %) chickensvaccinated with pEGFP-HN, five of ten (50.0%) chicken vaccinated with pEGFP-F and nine of ten (90.0%) chicken vaccinated with combined pEGFP-F and pEGFP-HN were protected from the challenge. No significant differences in the levels of protection were observed when the chicken were vaccinated with linearized pEGFP-F. the results suggested that more than two injections with both F and HN encoding plasmid DNA were required to induce level of antibodies for protection against velogenic NDV in chickens

In today’s fast-paced economic competition, committed and loyal employees are important for the profit-oriented organizations to gain and sustain their competitiveness.Even for non-profit-oriented organizations like hospitals and universities, these committed and loyal employees will lead to better quality service and improved organizational performance. Thus, it is vital for the organizations to sustain employees’ commitment because once the employees’ commitments decrease, it would be difficult for organizations to retain their employees. This study investigated the relationship between organizational commitment and intention to leave among nurses in Malaysian public hospitals, and determined the role of moral obligation as a mediator on the relationship between organizational commitment and intention to leave. The study focused on permanent nurses working in public hospitals in Peninsular Malaysia. The results supported that organizational commitment was significantly and negatively related to intention to leave. The macro results also showed that moral obligation was a mediator in the relationships between organizational commitment and the intention to leave. The results were crucial to be looked into so that management and employers could have ample understanding and guidelines if they were to draft retention strategies.Even though many studies had been conducted on the intention to leave, most of them were conducted in developed countries and this study is believed to enhance the literature gap since it has an emphasis in the Malaysian contex

Abstract— Stock Investment Decision involves both parties, i.e., individuals and organizations. The decision to buy or sell shares determined by attitude, subjective norms, and perceived control. However, three main factors are used to predict stock investment appropriately. In other ways, the value-added in-stock service is essential to investors. It aims to ensure the investors ease to use for gaining certainty and increase their trust in shares investment. Also, internet stock trading because it has a positive relationship with the behavioral intentions of stock investors. Also, the intention to behave requires communication interventions, including providing smart equipment, software that can do the calculation, and the availability of large data. We focus only on profit (price) with religion. This study suggests that government support through policies implemented by the government also needs to pay attention to the length of time of observation, both past, and future so that actual measurements can be made accurately. Keywords— Supply Chain Strategy, Stock Investment, Theory Reasoned Action, Planned Theory of Behavior, Investment Decision making
