Se determinĂł el equilibrio lĂquido-lĂquido(ELL) de los sistemas ternarios benceno+ (hexano, heptano y ciclohexano)con el lĂquido iĂłnico 1-etil-3-metilimidazolioetilsulfato (EMIM-EtSO4) a 308,15K; la selectividad (S) y el coeficiente dedistribuciĂłn (β) se calcularon desde losdatos experimentales que se utilizaronpara determinar la capacidad del lĂquidoiĂłnico como solvente para la separaciĂłndel aromático desde sus mezclas con hidrocarburosalifáticos. La regiĂłn de inmiscibilidadaumentĂł en el siguiente orden:ciclohexano and lt; hexano and lt; heptano. The extraction of toluene from heptane was analyzedby liquid extraction with 1,3-dimethylimidazolium methylsulfate[MMim][MeSO4] ionic liquid, as a solvent.The experimental (liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE)data were determined at T= 318.15 K and atmosphericpressure. Selectivity and distribution coefficient,derived from the tie-lines, were used to determine theability of this ionic liquid as solvent for the separationof toluene from its mixtures with heptane. Thedegree of consistency of the experimental LLE datawas ascertained using the Othmer–Tobias equation.The experimental data for LLE of the ternary systemwere correlated with the Non-Random Two-Liquid(NRTL) and UNIversal QUAsi-Chemical (UNIQUAC)thermodynamic models
