    Los museos y centros de arte alrededor del mundo, especialmente los catalogados como de arte Moderno y Contemporáneo, siguen el ejemplo de grandes marcas, empresas e instituciones y experimentan las ventajas de integrar a su plan de comunicación redes sociales basadas en imágenes como Pinterest e Instagram, que son las redes de esta tipología que mayor crecimiento de usuarios han experimentado en los últimos años. Una vez exploramos teóricamente qué son y cómo funcionan las redes sociales Pinterest e Instagram, y como están siendo aprovechadas por marcas e instituciones culturales, nos adentramos a descubrir qué nivel de participación tienen los museos españoles en las mismas. La población de la presente investigación la compone el universo de museos y centros de arte Moderno y Contemporáneo de España, en principio relacionados por dos condicionantes comunes; el arte moderno y contemporáneo como temática museológica y encontrarse localizados físicamente en territorio español. Analizaremos, cuáles de los museos y centros de arte Moderno y Contemporá- neo de España son partícipes activos de estas dos redes sociales y si hacen uso de las mismas para la promoción de productos culturales, con miras a determinar si estas instituciones reconocen o no el potencial de ambas en la elaboración de una estrategia de comunicación online acorde a los nuevos tiempos.This article presents an overview of Pinterest and Instagram, both image-based social media networks that have experienced the biggest growth in the last few years. The most active museums in social media around the world and specially those identified as museums of Modern and Contemporary art, use this kind of social networks in their communication strategies. For these reasons it is interesting to analyze Spanish museums of Modern and Contemporary Art with similar characteristics that are participating actively in Pinterest and Instagram and the strategies they are using. Our research scope is the overall population of museums of Modern and Contemporary art in Spain, these museums are related by two conditions: Modern and Contemporary art as principal scope and being located in Spanish territory. We want to analyze Spanish museums of Modern and Contemporary art actually using Pinterest and Instagram, and which of these museums are using these social media networks to promote their cultural products, recognizing the potential of both image-based social media networks in cultural communication

    Long-term <i>hm</i>F2 trends in the Eurasian longitudinal sector from the ground-based ionosonde observations

    International audienceThe method earlier used for the foF2 long-term trends analysis is applied to reveal hmF2 long-term trends at 27 ionosonde stations in the European and Asian longitudinal sectors. Observed M(3000)F2 data for the last 3 solar cycles are used to derive hmF2 trends. The majority of the studied stations show significant hmF2 linear trends with a confidence level of at least 95% for the period after 1965, with most of these trends being positive. No systematic variation of the trend magnitude with latitude is revealed, but some longitudinal effect does take place. The proposed geomagnetic storm concept to explain hmF2 long-term trends proceeds from a natural origin of the trends rather than an artificial one related to the thermosphere cooling due to the greenhouse effect

    A study on the stability of carbon nanoforms–polyimidazolium network hybrids in the conversion of co2 into cyclic carbonates: Increase in catalytic activity after reuse

    Three different carbon nanoforms (CNFs), single-walled and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs, MWCNTs) and carbon nanohorns (CNHs), have been used as supports for the direct polymerization of variable amounts of a bis-vinylimidazolium salt. Transmission electron microscopy confirmed that all CNFs act as templates on the growth of the polymeric network, which perfectly covers the nanocarbons forming a cylindrical (SWCNTs, MWCNTs) or spherical (CNHs) coating. The stability of these hybrid materials was investigated in the conversion of CO2 into cyclic carbonate under high temperature and CO2 pressure. Compared with the homopolymerized monomer, nanotube-based materials display an improved catalytic activity. Beside the low catalytic loading (0.05–0.09 mol%) and the absence of Lewis acid co-catalysts, all the materials showed high TON values (up to 1154 for epichlorohydrin with SW-1:2). Interestingly, despite the loss of part of the polymeric coating for crumbling or peeling, the activity increases upon recycling of the materials, and this behaviour was ascribed to their change in morphology, which led to materials with higher surface areas and with more accessible catalytic sites.     Polymerizable deep eutectic solvents: Convenient reactive dispersion media for the preparation of novel multi-walled carbon nanotubes-based functional materials

    A new straightforward and green approach for the covalent functionalization of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was developed. This carbon nanostructure was efficiently derivatized by polymerizing proper deep eutectic monomers (DEM), a subclass of deep eutectic solvents (DES), based on a series of mono- and bis-vinyl imidazolium salts endowed with different functional groups (–OH, –NH2, –NH3+Br–) in the side chain or in the spacer. Herein, DEM systems played a triple role as convenient dispersion media for MWCNTs, efficient reactive systems, and also as structure-directing agents for the radical-initiated polymerization process onto the surface of MWCNTs. In addition, the new methodology allowed obtaining highly functionalized hybrid materials, as shown by thermogravimetric analyses, in short reaction times (&lt;1h). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed that the polymeric network orderly develops along the surface of the nanotubes, which act as templating agent for both mono- and bis-vinyl imidazolium salts, despite the random nature of the polymerization process for the latter species. This new functionalization strategy of MWCNTs stands out for its environmentally friendly and time-saving nature leading to the formation of materials with significant potential for applications in a plethora of research fields. As a proof of their possible application, we tested these new hybrid materials as recoverable and recyclable catalysts for the conversion of CO2 into cyclic carbonates under solvent-free conditions, showing good catalytic performances, even in the absence of additional co-catalysts

    Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne infection that co-circulates with Chikungunya and Zika virus infection in many parts of the world. Dengue virus (DENV) is occasionally responsible for acute hepatitis and a few cases of acute hepatitis due to co-infection with DENV and hepatitis E virus have been described in India. A 37-year-old Cuban woman living in Italy was admitted to our hospital with a presumed arboviral infection upon her return to Italy short after a 15-day trip to her home-country to visit relatives. An acute infection due to DENV serotype 1 was initially diagnosed, following a clinical course characterized by signs of liver dysfunction that were possibly due to co-infection with hepatitis E virus

    Measurements and estimation of the columnar optical depth of tropospheric aerosols in the UV spectral region

    International audienceWe report values of the columnar tropospheric aerosol optical depth at UV wavelengths based on experimental measurements of the direct spectral irradiances carried out by a commercial spectroradiometer (Li1800 of Licor company) covering the range from 300?1100 nm at two stations with different climate characteristics in Spain. The first station is located in a rural site in north central Spain with continental climate. The data extend from March to the end of October of 1995. The other station is a coastal site in the Gulf of Cádiz (southwest Spain) of maritime climate type. This study is mainly focused on the capability of estimating aerosol optical depth values in the UV region based on the extracted information in the visible and near infrared ranges. A first method has been used based on the Ångström turbidity parameters. However, since this method requires detailed spectral information, a second method has also been used, based on the correlation between wavelengths. A correlation has been established between the experimental aerosol optical depth values at 350 nm and 500 nm wavelengths. Although the type of aerosol seems to be the key factor that determines the quality of these estimations, the evaluation of the associated error is necessary to know the behaviour of these estimations in each area of study

    This study is the third of a series of seven, and belongs to the second Italian systematic replication of findings from two previous series (Widdowson 2012a, 2012b, 2012c, 2013; Benelli, 2016a, 2016b, 2016c) that investigated the effectiveness of a manualised transactional analysis treatment for depression through Hermeneutic Single-Case Efficacy Design (HSCED). Major Depression and Subthreshold Depression are often in comorbidity with Anxiety disorders in childhood and adolescence and represent a risk factor for ongoing mental health problems in adulthood. The therapist was a white Italian woman with 15 years of clinical experience and the client, Deborah, was a 15-year old white Italian female adoloscent who attended sixteen sessions of transactional analysis psychotherapy. The conclusion of the judges was that this was a good-outcome case: the depressive and anxious symptomatology clinically and reliably improved over the course of the therapy and these improvements were maintained throughout the duration of the follow-up intervals. Furthermore, the client reported significant change in her post-treatment interview and these changes were directly attributed to the therapy. In this case study, the transactional analysis manualised treatment for depression in adulthood has demonstrated its effectiveness also in treating depressive and anxiety symptoms in adolescence

    Pancreatic transplant surgery and stem cell therapy: Finding the balance between therapeutic advances and ethical principles

    The latest achievements in the field of pancreas transplantation and stem cell therapy require an effort by the scientific community to clarify the ethical implications of pioneering treatments, often characterized by high complexity from a surgical point of view, due to transplantation of multiple organs at the same time or at different times, and from an immunological point of view for stem cell therapy. The fundamental value in the field of organ transplants is, of course, a solidarity principle, namely that of protecting the health and life of people for whom transplantation is a condition of functional recovery, or even of survival. The nature of this value is that of a concept to which the legal discipline of transplants entrusts its own ethical dignity and for which it has ensured a constitutional recognition in different systems. The general principle of respect for human life, both of the donor and of the recipient, evokes the need not to put oneself and one's neighbor in dangerous conditions. The present ethical reflection aims to find a balance between the latest therapeutic advances and several concepts including the idea of the person, the respect due to the dead, the voluntary nature of the donation and the consent to the same, the gratuitousness of the donation, the scientific progress and the development of surgical techniques, and the policies of health promotion
