Urban local government is a vital part for the delivery of services to people. Along with other responsibilities, urban local government in Bangladesh is also responsible for environmental management. This study aims to identify the role of Paurashavas (which are administrative units at every municipality composed of elected members) in protecting a healthy and clean environment. Examining Chunarughat Paurashava, the study finds that Paurashavas have an important role in environmental management such as garbage collection, waste disposal, sewerage construction, public park protection, and so on. However, the provision of these kinds of services is hindered by various lacks, like infrastructure, logistic support, trained manpower, and funds, as well as peoples’ participation. The study makes various recommendations to overcome these problems.local government, environmental management, Bangladesh, Paurashava, Chunarughat

Social Status Changes of Women Garments Worker: A Study on Bangladesh Perspective

Garments industry is the prime economic sector in Bangladesh. Most of the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) carried on Garments Industry. In this industry most of the worker is women. So, women garment worker are main human resources in Bangladesh. But one problem is that, they have no standard social status in our society on the other hand they have owned social status after joining the garments industry. Basically, before joining the garments industry women have lower social status or have no status in her family, relatives, and her father in laws house. Women deprived from control over resources, have no decision-making power, no invitation in social functions, poor health service etc. But this scenario changes after joining the garments industry. In that perspective researcher applied quantitative research methods to find out how to change social status of women garments worker. In the quantitative method researcher followed simple random sample survey into the garments industry where women are working. Researcher found some recommendations from the women garment’s worker. At first, they have an occupational identity which is helpful to consume social status in her family as well as in her relatives. So, it is a great change for women with help of garments industry. The change social status process is not easy because various problems hamper this changes system. Sometimes women garment worker harassed by her family members as well as her colleagues, staffs of garments, owner of the garments etc. In this situation a woman is helpless in her life and they need to support from her family members, friends, colleagues, staffs and owner. In this context, researcher finds out the women to manage this situation it is a great change in social status of women garments worker in Bangladesh. Women garments worker think that if they have regular work in garments factory as well as they get social, economic, and legal support from stakeholder (Garments Industry, Government, Media etc.) their social status changes well radically. Citizen participation in urban local government: a case study of Kanaighat Paurashava in Bangladesh

    Get PDF
Scholars have identified many variables as determinants of citizen participation, but not all of these are relevant to citizen participation in specific cultural and political contexts. This paper seeks to identify the specific factors which work as drivers for citizen participation in Bangladesh through a case study of Kanaighat Paurashava (municipality), an urban local government. It identifies the following variables which strongly affect citizen participation: the role of elected representatives, notably their willingness and awareness; the provision of information to citizens; citizens’ capacity; and resources available. Findings also suggest that a holistic approach is needed to understand and change representatives’ attitudes towards citizens and ensure participation

Effect of Paecilomyces lilacinus on tomato plant growth and the management of root knot nematodes in tomato was studied. The research work was conducted in Microbiology & Bio-control Laboratory, Department of Plant Pathology, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh and in Net-house of Department of Plant Pathology, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh, during the period from July, 2016 to October, 2017. In net-house pot culture experiment, four different treatments were used viz., T1: Inoculation of egg masses (10 egg masses/plant) of Nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.), T2: Application of P. lilacinus, T3: Application of egg masses of Nematodes and P. lilacinus simultaneously, and T4: Control (non-treated). Spore suspension (10105 Conc.) of P. lilacinus was mixed with the soil before transplantation and Meloidogyne spp. was inoculated on three days after transplantation. Application of P. lilacinus in soil enhanced the plant growth parameters of tomato plants. Inoculation of Meloidogyne spp. reduced plant growth and the reduction was increased with the increase of inoculum density of Meloidogyne spp. Maximum plant growth reduction was recorded when Meloidogyne spp. was inoculated alone. The maximum plant growth was recorded in case of application of P. lilacinus to soil. A high percentage (85%) of egg masses of Meloidogyne spp. was infected by P. lilacinus when applied togethe

The Impact of Packaging on Customer’s Buying Decision

The aim of our study is to show the impact of packaging and on customer’s buying decision. By observing various literature, I construct a proposed model and to justify the model accuracy is used PLS-SEM (Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Models) SmartPLS 3.2.8. The outcome of my study revels, there is a very significant relationship between on consumer’s buying decision. Now a day’s consumers are very conscious and it is very critical to influence their buying decision. Packaging has that ability to affect the buying decision. Packaging also has a very significant impact on consumer’s buying decision. Keywords: Customers’ Buying Decision, Innovation, Packaging, Package Color, Package Design, Package Materials, Printed Information, Typography.DOI: 10.7176/DCS/11-5-04Publication date:May 31st 202

Classification of multichannel EEG signal by linear discriminant analysis

    Get PDF
Motor imagery (MI) related Electroencephalogram (EEG) signal classification is one of the main challenge in designing a brain computer interface (BCI) system. Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) has a very low computational requirement which makes it suitable for online BCI system. This paper proposes an advanced and simple classification technique for MI related BCI system. Initially the signal is extracted for different features. The LDA classifier has been used to propose technique to design an MI based BCI. For contrastive comparison other classification techniques have been evaluated by classification accuracy and Cohen's kappa
