Characteristic of Triplen Harmonics in Low Voltage Network
Triplen harmonics study for harmonics produced by non-linear loads and
salient pole synchronous generator is very important because their presence have
caused communication line interference, damage to neutral earthing resistor etc.
The purpose of this project is to study the characteristics of triplen harmonics
under balanced/unbalanced resistive/inductive/capacitive loads, different
generator neutral earthing resistor values and various transformer winding
configurations. Lab scale non-linear load and salient pole synchronous generator
is used for the experiment and third harmonic currents are recorded for analysis to
represent triplen harmonics currents characteristics. Results from the under
balanced load experiment shows that third harmonic current is inversely
proportional to load impedance and neutral current is three times the phase
current. During unbalanced load condition, the magnitude current is different for
each phase and the neutral current is lower than arithmetic sum of phase current
due to different phase current magnitude and angle. The phase and neutral third
harmonic currents magnitude is inversely proportional to generator NER
resistance under balanced load. Transformer winding configurations under
balanced load permit third harmonic current flowing through them in accordance
to zero sequence network for the transformer apart from higher transformer
reactive impedance at third harmonic
Comparison water quality in Seri Mendapat area and Merlimau area (Elaeis guineensis) / Mohamad Shah Jehan Mohamad Hisham
Water quality is important for oil palm plantation. It is because water quality have component such as water salinity and water pH in water structures. The water salinity and water pH is important for plantation to give the yield. Because when the plant is up take good water quality give the good feedback from plant. The study was conducted to compare the mean of water pH, water salinity (Nacl) and total dissolved solids (TDS). The area of study is Kampung Seri Mendapat area and Merlimau area. The crop focus is oil plant plantation (elaeis guineensis). 10 sample water are collected every week. The samples are collected at same point every week and have 4 replication. The samples were taken from Kampung Seri Mendapat area and other samples from Merlimau area. Cyberscan PCD 650 was used for measures the water quality such as water pH, water ion and conductivity, total dissolved solids water, water salinity, water resistivity, dissolved, water oxygen and water temperature The average mean of water pH for Kampung Seri Mendapat area is 3.45 and Merlimau is 3.86. The level of pH for the both area is acidic average water salinity in Kampung Seri Mendapat area is 438.94 ppm and merlimau is 354.97 ppm. For the Merlimau water salinity level is low while in Seri Mendapat is moderately salinity level. Total Dissolved Solids mean in Kampung Seri Mendapat area is 442.20 ppm and Merlimau is 358.24 ppm. For TDS Seri Mendapat is good condition and the excellent condition for Merlimau area
Credit card usage behaviour among teachers in the state of Perlis, Malaysia
Credit card debt is an area of concern in Malaysia. Statistics from the Ministry of Education reports that credit card usage among teachers is disproportionately high in Malaysia when compared to other professions. To be able to further understand this situation, this study focused in the teachers in Perlis. The measures for the study were Bank Policy, Credit Card Benefits and User Attributes as the independent variables and credit card usage as the dependent variable. The outcome of the study enabled a better understanding of the reasons for the high usage of credit card by teachers. The findings indicate that credit card benefits have a significant positive relationship on Credit Card Usage. The other two variables (Bank Policy, User Attributes) did not have a significant influence on credit card usage among teacher
General Geology of Lawin Area along Grik – Lawin Transect with Emphasis on Sedimentology of Tertiary Sedimentary Basin
This project is about geological study in Lawin, Gerik, Perak. The study would be divided into two part in which on the first part it is a general geology study where the final result would be rose diagrams, stereonet and geological map with its cross section along the transect line. Then the study will emphasize more on sedimentology of the Lawin Tertiary Sedimentary Basin and the end product would be from petrography, sedimentary log, and XRF. All the results then further discussed and concluded. Future study should be done to evaluate more on the presence of valuable minerals in the tertiary basin
Thermal Effects for Shaft-Pre-Stress on Rotor Dynamic System
This Paper outlines study behaviour of rotating shaft with high speed under
thermal effects. The method of obtaining the frequency response functions of a
rotor system with study whirl effect in this revision the raw data obtained
from the experimental results (using Smart Office program) are curve-fitted by
theoretical data regenerated from some of the experimental data and simulating
it using finite element (ANSYS 12). (FE) models using the Eigen analysis
capability were used to simulate the vibration. The results were compared with
experimental data show analysis data with acceptable accuracy and performance.
The rotating effect causes un-symmetry in the system matrices, resulting in
complexity in decoupling the mathematical models of the system for the purpose
of modal analysis. Different method is therefore required, which can handle
general system matrices rather than symmetrical matrices, which is normal for
passive structures. Mathematical model of the system from the test data can be
assembled. The frequency response functions are extracted, Campbell diagram are
draw and simulated. (FE) is used to carry out such as simulation since it has
good capability for Eigen analysis and also good graphical facility.

THE INSPIRATION OF CORPORATE INTERNET REPORTING: THE PERSPECTIVE OF MALAYSIAN CORPORATIONS
Corporate Internet Reporting (CIR) is the communication process between corporations and stakeholders via the Internet medium. The use of CIR by corporations is considered as a precondition for success, as it offers the facility to provide stakeholders with information to make well-informed and timely investment decisions. This study examines the reasons that motivate Malaysian listed corporations to practice CIR. The study was conducted on 310 publicly listed Malaysian corporations across eleven various economic sectors. In gathering the data, a questionnaire survey was distributed to the preparers of CIR who are represented by the chief financial officers, accountants, finance managers or investor relations managers of the companies. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the independent sample t-test. The results revealed that corporations’ acceptance of CIR as a norm in today’s business world was the most important reason to inspire companies to practice CIR. In addition, the timeliness, high quality, downloadable and processable format of information presented, the aspiration of companies to be in line with technological developments, increased demand for CIR by stakeholders and the ability of CIR to reach a broader range of stakeholders in disseminating corporate information were other important reasons that inspired Malaysian corporations to practice CIR. On the other hand, the study found competitive pressure and directors’ desire as trivial reasons in inspiring companies to practice CIR. Finally, the study contributes to the knowledge pertaining to CIR in Malaysia and might be useful as a reference for other developing countries in clarifying the nature of financial reporting problems. Keywords: Corporate Internet Reporting, inspiration, Malaysian corporations
Distributed Fiber Optics Strain Measurements for Monitoring Geotechnical Structures
Recent advances in strain measurement using optical fibers provide new opportunities for monitoring the performance of geotechnical structures during and after construction. Brillouin optical time-domain reflectometry (BOTDR) is an innovative technique that allows measurement of full strain profiles using standard optical fibers. In this paper, two case studies illustrating the application of the distributed optical fiber strain sensors are presented. One is monitoring of an old masonry tunnel when a new tunnel was constructed nearby and the other is monitoring the behavior of secant piled walls for basement construction. Both sites are located in London. The advantages and limitations of this new sensor technology for monitoring geotechnical structures are discussed
