This article discusses the comparison of leadership in the context of schools and Islamic boarding schools. Leadership in educational institutions is very important for achieving academic goals and developing student character. However, leadership in schools and Islamic boarding schools differs in culture, values, and institutional goals. This study uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews with school and Islamic boarding school leaders. Data analysis was performed using the thematic analysis method. The results of the study show that leadership in schools is more focused on administrative management, while leadership in Islamic boarding schools is more focused on building religious character and values. In addition, leadership in Islamic boarding schools is more paternalistic in nature, while leadership in schools is more democratic. In the context of educational development in Indonesia, this research can provide insight and understanding of the differences in leadership in two different types of educational institutions. It is hoped that the results of this research can provide guidance for leaders of educational institutions in improving the quality of leadership and educational development in Indonesia

Equivalence Levels of Literary Corpus Translation Using a Freeware Analysis Toolkit

Machine translation has the potential to make huge contributions to translation industries, but it seems, for now, that machine translation equivalence has led to a crucial point for literary translation by using machine translation because of the problem of the equivalence itself. This paper, therefore, aimed to see the equivalence degree of literary translation resulted by machine translation, i.e., freeware toolkit AntConc 3.5.0 software 2019. The data were collected from English-Indonesian J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix novel by using the software to find the equivalent translation. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively based on the strategy of translation equivalent level proposed by Mona Baker (1992). The analyzed data revealed that the equivalent level of the software mostly occurred in a word level, above word level, and grammatical level. The software was likely difficult to find a textual level and a pragmatic level of translation equivalence because they required a context and still needed human involvement as part of a greater creative project of translation which were not done by the machine translation. After all, Antconc 3.5.0 as Computer Assisted Tool (CAT) brought a huge contribution to translation industry, helped to analyze large corpora particularly to find the degree of translation equivalence in word and above word level

Factors That Foster or Hinder Student Reading Motivation in a Suburban Primary School

Readingtakes a large amount of effort, but if students are without the motivation to read, they will put little effort into the task of reading (Guthrie, Perencevich, Tonks, and Wigfield, 2004). According to the report of the International Student Assessment (PISA) results of the sixty-four participating countries, 37% of the students polled engaged in reading for pleasure (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, 2010). People who engage in reading for pleasure are motivated to read, but someone who is not reading for enjoyment is not motivated to read. (Guthrie et al., 2004) Reading motivation is a very important aspect of a student’s reading process. Many classroom teachers are focused on what they are held accountable for, which is test scores and being in line with the Common Core Standards. The purpose of this study was to explore what teachers did to foster reading motivation according to theory, and to observe what teachers actually did in their classrooms. The research questions that I explored in this study are: How do teachers, in a suburban primary school, set up their classroom libraries and environment related to reading motivation? In what ways do the teachers’ actions and schedules appear to foster or detract from reading motivation

Review of experimental effect of variations in the diameter of the nozzle and the amount of bucket on thepower and the efficiency on prototype pelton turbine in the Lab. Fluid. The aim of this study wants to know the effectof variations in the diameter of the nozzle and amount of the bucket to the power and efficiency of the existing peltonturbine prototype in the laboratory Fluid in the Pico-hydro scale. The steps in this research include the study ofliterature and field studies, designing, manufacturing of test equipment, testing, data analysis, and conclusions.Variation is done using nozzle diameter (dn) 6 mm and 9 mm, β2 at 165o, amount of bucket (Z) 12 units, 17 units, and 22 units. For the runner has a large diameter of 150 mm, while for the power plants or generators using spooland magnet on motorcycles. Results of this testing is the largest input power (Pin) at d 6 mm with a value of 46.81watts. The largest turbine power (Pt) and turbine efficiency (ηt) at dnn = 6 mm with Z = 12 unit with value P= 40,34watt and ηt =86,18 watt. The largest generator power (Pgen) at d = 6 mm with Z = 22 unit with value 9,6 watt, meanwhile for the largest generator efficiency (ηgenn) and the largest efficiency system (ηsis) at d= 9 mm with Z = 22unit with value ηgen = 54,24 % and η= 25,82 %.Keywords: Pelton Turbine, Bucket, Nozzle, Power and Efficienc

The objectives of this research are to identify and describe the translationstrategies for offensive slang contained in the Baywatch (2017) movie and find outthe results of the translation strategies used by translator in translating vulgarity andoffensiveness slang from English to Indonesian. The methodology used by theresearcher is a qualitative method based on Sugiyono's theory, and theoriesproposed by Mat iello Elisa, Karolina Butkuvien? and Lolita Petrulion?.The result sof this study discovered that there were 3 strategies used by translators, namelySoftening, Literal Translation, and Stylistic Compensation. From the data collected, there are1 strategy of Softening, 5 Literal Translation strategies and 9 StylisticCompensation strategies were obtained. In addition, the researcher also acquired3data of Literal Translation and 7 data of Stylistic Compensation could be changedusing softening strategies to produce more appropriate translations.vii,38 hlm.;ilus,25 c
