Retention of Returning Orientation Team Leaders

This action research looks at reasons why Orientation Team Leaders choose not to return for another year on the team. Orientation provides information and a glimpse at life on a college campus to our incoming students. To make Orientation happen, Orientation Team Leaders are needed. The Orientation Team Leaders at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) are students that are passionate about the work they do. Orientation gives student leaders the ability and skills to utilize in everyday work as well as helps them work on their development as student leaders. This research analyzes different reasons as to why Orientation Team Leaders choose not to return to the team for another summer and the drawbacks that can have in their development of themselves and their skills

The Invisible Reality and the Spectacular (Inter)Nationalization of La Movida: The Case of Photography

Este trabajo se plantea una revisión crítica del grupo de fotógrafos consagrado bajo el colectivo de la movida, con el objetivo de mostrar cómo la ideología espectacular los banalizó y, así, les restó cualquier posibilidad de mostrarse como arte de contenido social enlazado a una trayectoria histórica.The aim of this paper is to explore the work of La Movida’s photographers with the intention of highlighting the way that the ideology of the spectacle trivialized their images and, in doing so, deprived them of any chance to show them as social art linked to specific historical forces. I return to La Movida's photographers with a view to highlighting the way their work resists trivialization, and does so from within the ideological parameters of the society of the spectacle itself

Mental Health Matters: Promoting Social and Emotional Learning

The mental health of children is something that is overlooked and often not talked about. This is important because children need guidance to manage their emotions especially after going through traumatic experiences. The focus of this Capstone Project was on gaining more information about children’s mental health and promoting the importance of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL). By interviewing three elementary school teachers at Roadrunner Elementary, I collected data to see how they viewed social and emotional learning and what they thought could be done to improve students’ mental health. Based on an analysis of the data and the relevant research literature, three themes emerged: 1) incorporating a SEL program at the school; 2) hiring more counselors; and 3) building connections with students. From these three action options, the teachers interviewed as well as myself, reflected on how these actions will benefit each student in the school. Together we talked about activities and lessons that we can utilize to get to know students better and ways to build a stronger classroom community. Bringing awareness to students’ mental health, will take us one step closer to positive change

Durante mi permanencia en la República Dominicana he recolectado algunos insectos, entre los que se encuentran también Cóccidos, y aunque el número de especies que he reunido no es muy grande, presentan algún interés, unos por no estar citados de este país y otros por aparecer sobre nuevas plantas matrices para las especies de que se trata, de modo que esta nota contribuye al conocimiento de los Cóccidos del Nuevo Continente.Peer reviewe

Instalación eléctrica de un local comercial de venta al por menor de prendas de vestir

El presente proyecto pretende demostrar la capacidad del estudiante para realizar un proyecto de instalación eléctrica de baja tensión acorde a la normativa vigente. En este caso el Reglamento Electrotécnico de Baja Tensión. Para ello se realiza el proyecto de un local comercial de venta al por menor de prendas de vestir. En este caso al tratarse de un proyecto que surge de la voluntad del estudiante no existe un cliente real. Así que es el propio estudiante el que crea los requisitos del cliente a través de los planos de instalaciones del anexo y de la relación de cargas en esta misma memoria. En la memoria se presentan las condiciones generales, descripción del local, normativa a seguir, cálculos realizados, elección de elementos, presupuesto de materiales, etc. En definitiva la memoria describe todos los pasos que nos conducen al resultado final. Que en un proyecto de instalaciones eléctricas, no es otro que el Esquema Unifilar (anexo planos). El esquema unifilar es todo lo que necesitan los instaladores para llevar a cabo la realización del proyecto
