Entanglement versus Quantum Discord in Two Coupled Double Quantum Dots

We study the dynamics of quantum correlations of two coupled double quantum dots containing two excess electrons. The dissipation is included through the contact with an oscillator bath. We solve the Redfield master equation in order to determine the dynamics of the quantum discord and the entanglement of formation. Based on our results, we find that the quantum discord is more resistant to dissipation than the entanglement of formation for such a system. We observe that this characteristic is related to whether the oscillator bath is common to both qubits or not and to the form of the interaction Hamiltonian. Moreover, our results show that the quantum discord might be finite even for higher temperatures in the asymptotic limit.Comment: 14 pages, 8 figures (new version is the final version to appear in NJP

Saliency-based cooperative landing of a multirotor aerial vehicle on an autonomous surface vehicle

This paper presents a method for vision-based landing of a multirotor unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) on an autonomous surface vehicle (ASV) equipped with a helipad. The method includes a mechanism for helipad behavioural search when outside the UAV’s field of view, a learning saliency-based mechanism for visual tracking the helipad, and a cooperative strategy for the final vision-based landing phase. Learning how to track the helipad from above occurs during takeoff and cooperation results from having the ASV tracking the UAV for assisting its landing. Duração da estacionalidade de produção em pastagens irrigadas.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar o período de estacionalidade de produção de matéria seca de seis espécies forrageiras irrigadas. p. PURPUREUM CV Toiwan; P. maximum cv Tanzânia; B. decumbens cv Basilisk; B. brizantha cv Marandu; P. atrtum cv Pojuca; C. doctylon cv Coast-cross. Durante dois anos (1999/2000 e 2000/2001), avaliaram-se as condições climáticas do local onde o experimento foi realizado (região Central do Estado de São Paulo, São Carlos) e as características fenológicas das forrageiras, em São Carlos - SP. As pastagens irrigadas têm um período de 65 a 70 dias de estacionalidade de produção durante o ano, em que, mesmo satisfazendo as necessidades hídricas da planta forrageira, não há produção de matéria seca

Estudo dos efeitos de doses de herbicida no desenvolvimento de Brachiaria brizantha em diferentes épocas de aplicação.

O experimento foi conduzido com o objetivo avaliar a eficiência do herbicida nicosulfuron aplicado em pós-emergência em Brachiaria brizantha e também os seus efeitos sobre as diferentes épocas de aplicação. O experimento foi conduzido em condições de ambiente protegido o delineamento experimental foi de blocos casualizados, em esquema fatorial 2x4, e quatro repetições. Os fatores foram constituídos por quatro doses do herbicida: 0,00 L/ha; 1,00 L/ ha; 1,5 L/ha e 2,00 L/ha, e duas fases de aplicação: 27 dias após o plantio, coincidindo com o perfilhamento primário e 43 dias após o plantio. Aos 7e 14 dias após a aplicação do herbicida nicosulfuron, foi contado o número de perfilho de plantas por vaso, realizado medições da altura das plantas e avaliações visuais de danos na planta. Sintomas de clorose ligeira foram observados logo após a aplicação do herbicida. No entanto não houve efeito significativo de doses do herbicida nicosulfuron e épocas de aplicação para as alturas médias de plantas e número de perfilhos

Photon-graviton pair conversion

We consider the conversion of gravitons and photons as a four-wave mixing process. A nonlinear coupled systems of equations involving two gravitons and two photons is obtained, and the energy exchange between the different degrees of freedom is found. The scattering amplitudes are obtained, from which a crossection for incoherent processes can be found. Pressure and chemical substitution effects in the local atomic structure of BaFe2As2

The effects of K and Co substitutions and quasi-hydrostatic applied pressure (P<9 GPa) in the local atomic structure of BaFe2As2, Ba(Fe{0.937}Co{0.063})2As2 and Ba{0.85}K{0.15}Fe2As2 superconductors were investigated by extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) measurements in the As K absorption edge. The As-Fe bond length is found to be slightly reduced (<~ 0.01 Angstroms) by both Co and K substitutions, without any observable increment in the corresponding Debye Waller factor. Also, this bond is shown to be compressible (k = 3.3(3)x10^{-3} GPa^{-1}). The observed contractions of As-Fe bond under pressure and chemical substitutions are likely related with a reduction of the local Fe magnetic moments, and should be an important tuning parameter in the phase diagrams of the Fe-based superconductors.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figure
