Exotic Quarkonia from Anisotropic Lattices
We study in detail the spectrum of heavy quarkonia with different orbital
angular momentum along with their radial and gluonic excitations. Using an
anisotropic formulation of Lattice QCD we achieved an unprecedented control
over statistical errors and were able to study systematic errors such as
lattice spacing artefacts, finite volume effects and relativistic corrections.
First results on the spin structure in heavy hybrids are also presented.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Crystal structure of N,N,N-tris-[(1,3-benzo-thia-zol-2-yl)meth-yl]amine.
The title compound, C24H18N4S3, exhibits three near planar benzo-thia-zole systems in a pseudo-C 3 conformation. The dihedral angles between the planes of the benzo-thia-zole groups range from 112.56 (4) to 124.68 (4)° In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected to each other through three short C-H⋯N contacts, forming an infinite chain along [100]. The molecules are also linked by π-π interactions with each of the three five-membered thiazole rings. [inter-centroid distance range: 3.614 (1)-4.074 (1) Å, inter-planar distance range: 3.4806 (17)-3.6902 (15) Å, slippage range: 0.759 (3)-1.887 (3) Å]
Dimethyl 2,2'-di-nitro-biphenyl-4,4'-di-carboxyl-ate.
The title compound, C16H12N2O8, exhibits two near-planar aromatic ester groups with ar-yl-ester dihedral angles of 2.1 (2) and 4.2 (3)°. The dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 58.0 (1)°. The two nitro groups are tilted slightly from the plane of the aromatic rings, making dihedral angles of 14.1 (1) and 8.2 (2)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected by weak C-H⋯O inter-actions, forming a three-dimensional network
Heavy Quarkonia from Anisotropic and Isotropic Lattices
We report on recent results for the spectrum of heavy quarkonia. Using coarse
and anisotropic lattices we achieved an unprecedented control over statistical
and systematic errors for higher excited states such as exotic hybrid states.
In a parallel study on isotropic lattices we also investigate the effect of two
dynamical flavours on the spin structure of charmonium and bottomonium for

Crystal structure of dimethyl 9H-carbazole-2,7-di-carb-oxy-late.
In the title compound, C16H13NO4, the carbazole ring system is almost planar with non-H atoms possessing a mean deviation from planarity of 0.037 Å. The two ester groups are orientated trans to one another and tilted slightly from the mean plane of the carbazole ring system, making dihedral angles of 8.12 (6) and 8.21 (5)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by pairs of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds forming inversion dimers. The dimers are linked by parallel slipped π-π inter-actions, forming slabs propagating along the b-axis direction [inter-centroid distance = 3.6042 (8) Å, inter-planar distance = 3.3437 (5) Å, slippage = 1.345 Å]
Development of systems and techniques for landing an aircraft using onboard television
A flight program was conducted to develop a landing technique with which a pilot could consistently and safely land a remotely piloted research vehicle (RPRV) without outside visual reference except through television. Otherwise, instrumentation was standard. Such factors as the selection of video parameters, the pilot's understanding of the television presentation, the pilot's ground cockpit environment, and the operational procedures for landing were considered. About 30 landings were necessary for a pilot to become sufficiently familiar and competent with the test aircraft to make powered approaches and landings with outside visual references only through television. When steep approaches and landings were made by remote control, the pilot's workload was extremely high. The test aircraft was used as a simulator for the F-15 RPRV, and as such was considered to be essential to the success of landing the F-15 RPRV
Measurement of hybrid content of heavy quarkonia using lattice NRQCD
Using lowest-order lattice NRQCD to create heavy meson propagators and
applying the spin-dependent interaction, , at varying intermediate time slices, we
compute the off-diagonal matrix element of the Hamiltonian for the
quarkonium-hybrid two-state system. Thus far, we have results for one set of
quenched lattices with an interpolation in quark mass to match the bottomonium
spectrum. After diagonalization of the two-state Hamiltonian, we find the
ground state of the to show a (with ) probability admixture of hybrid, .Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures, to appear in Phys Rev
MapCap allows high-resolution detection and differential expression analysis of transcription start sites
The position, shape and number of transcription start sites (TSS) are critical determinants of gene regulation. Most methods developed to detect TSSs and study promoter usage are, however, of limited use in studies that demand quantification of expression changes between two or more groups. In this study, we combine high-resolution detection of transcription start sites and differential expression analysis using a simplified TSS quantification protocol, MAPCap (Multiplexed Affinity Purification of Capped RNA) along with the software icetea . Applying MAPCap on developing Drosophila melanogaster embryos and larvae, we detected stage and sex-specific promoter and enhancer activity and quantify the effect of mutants of maleless (MLE) helicase at X-chromosomal promoters. We observe that MLE mutation leads to a median 1.9 fold drop in expression of X-chromosome promoters and affects the expression of several TSSs with a sexually dimorphic expression on autosomes. Our results provide quantitative insights into promoter activity during dosage compensation
Biphasic Culture of Arcobacter spp.
Arcobacter spp. have recently been genetically differentiated as a genus distinct from Campylobacter. Physiologically, Arcobacter spp. are aerotolerant bacteria, while Campylobacter spp. are microaerophilic. However, since Arcobacter spp. have been difficult to grow to high population densities in broth media, alternative culture techniques were investigated. A biphasic culture system was developed in 25 cm2 tissue culture flasks. Biphasic culture, consisting of a solid phase of 10% bovine blood agar and a liquid phase of Brain Heart Infusion broth, was found to increase bacterial population densities by more than 2 log10 cycles for strains of A. butzleri and A. skirrowii. A strain of A. cryaerophilus, which was non-culturable in broth culture, attained population densities of 109 cells ml-1 in biphasic culture. Neither the addition of fetal bovine serum to the liquid nor an increase in the surface area from 25 to 75 cm2 resulted in increased cell densities
Ab Initio Study of Hybrid b-bar-gb Mesons
Hybrid b-bar-gb molecules in which the heavy b-bar-b pair is bound together
by the excited gluon field g are studied using the Born-Oppenheimer expansion
and numerical simulations. The consistency of results from the two approaches
