Assessment of the performance of a special User Datagram Protocol: Identifying Packet Loss and Reordering Packets in Keyed UDP Transmissions
The User Datagram Protocol (UDP) and other similar protocols send application data
from the source to the destination machine inside datagrams, without any type of control
on the transmission or success metrics. These protocols are very convenient for real time
transmission as the absence of complex control mechanisms tend to make the data
transmission adequately fast. In opposition, to sustain the increased functionality and
features of the connection-oriented protocol, a set of mechanisms is implemented based
on some specific fields of the segment header. These mechanisms result in a significant
overhead in terms of the increased number of transmitted packets, which in turn may
translate into significant delays, because of the additional number of switching and
routing tasks, and eventually, because of more complex communications procedures,
such as e.g. transmission window resizing, and of course, acknowledgement and
sequence numbers updating. The two extremes of these communication modalities, one
that has no control at all, and the other one that allows for full control, have resulted in
the creation of an intermediate protocol that allows for a limited degree of knowledge on
how successful a transmission was, and even for an eventual reordering of the packets
that arrive out of sequence. This dissertation presents simulation results that confirm the
efficiency of the new almost-reliable UDP protocol, named Keyed User Datagram
Protocol (or KUDP) for transmission of data that includes the ability to identify which
packets were lost and to reorder packets that were received out-of-order, and points
future tasks to be pursued in this research.O User Datagram Protocol (UDP) e outros protocolos semelhantes enviam dados de
futuras a serem desenvolvidas nesta pesquisa
Devonian Sedimentation in the SW boundary of the Ossa-Morena Zone: State of Art and Paleogeography
The Devonian sedimentary record of the Ossa-Morena Zone is scarce. In its southwestern domains, the Odivelas Limestone and correlatable units represent the single evidence of latest Early Devonian to Middle Devonia n (possibly into Frasnian) sedimentation in this area. Reefal and perireefa l sediments are frequently, but not always, associated to coeval volcanic rocks that probably supported atoll-like systems on the top of volcanic edifices. The northernmost occurrences are spatially associated with mississippian volcani c-sedimentary complexes. Their geometrical relation is still unclear, the limestones are possibly embedded as olitoliths, but can also be tectonically imbricated or simply reflecting draping of younger sediments around and above older (Devonian) sea-bed topography
THE FIRST RECORD OF CAMBRIAN CONODONTS FROM THE HUQF-HAUSHI OUTCROPS, OMAN, ARABIAN PENINSULA
Outcrops of Cambrian sediments of the uppermost Miqrat Formation, the Al Bashair Formation and the basal Barik Formation were sampled for conodont and palynomorph studies. The units are part of the Palaeozoic Haima Supergroup, exposed in the Huqf-Haushi area in central eastern Oman, Arabian Peninsula. Palynomorphs were absent but conodont samples yielded a small conodont fauna. The presence of Muellerodus? erectus allows the recognition of the Muellerodus? erectus Zone established for North China (late Paibian – early Jiangshanian), in accordance with previous reports on the trilobite fauna from the same interval
Prasinophyte bloom and putative fungi abundance near the Kačák event (Middle Devonian) from the Odivelas Limestone, Southwest Iberia
The Kačák Event is one of the several prominent Devonian climatic and biotic perturbations with a supra-regional to global extent. Its record can be traced in the litho- and biostratigraphy of uppermost Eifelian-lowermostGivetian strata and with multiple geochemical and geophysical proxies. In southwest Iberia, within southwestern Ossa-Morena Zone domains, there are rare, scattered Early-Middle Devonian limestone occurrences. One of these occurrences—the Odivelas Limestone type locality—is revisited in terms of conodont biostratigraphy and palynology and the results compared with previous data on reef macrofauna and magnetic susceptibility stratigraphy. The new data show that this locality is probably within the Polygnathus hemiansatus zone, i.e. of the earliest Givetian age. The palynological content of a ca. 2 m of black, organic-rich, fine grained limestone section is dominated, in varied proportions, by amorphous organic matter, putative fungal hyphae, and prasinophycean algae. The results are interpreted as an indication of high organic productivity and deposition in hypoxic to anoxic settings and probable biotic crisis, in both marine and terrestrial realms, connected with the Middle Devonian Kačák Event. The similarity of this record with other Devonian events is discussed
The Palynology and Stratigraphy of Devonian and Carboniferous sedimentary
rocks and metasediments outcropping along the Porto-Tomar shear zone are
described and interpreted. The Palynology and Stratigraphy of the Santa
Susana Basin and of the Odivelas Limestone are also described and
interpreted.
There is a discontinuous sedimentary record possibly associated with the
Porto-Tomar shear zone extending from the Late Devonian to the
Pennsylvanian. From the Late Devonian to the Mississippian, the
sedimentation was marine, essentially turbiditic, with a general shallowing
trend. The thermal maturation of these rocks (Albergaria-a-Velha Unit) is high,
and the unit is considered to be post-mature in terms of hydrocarbon
generation potential. The incipient metamorphism is accompanied by intense
deformation.
The Buçaco basin is entirely terrestrial and its age is restricted to the Gzhelian
(upper Pennsylvanian). The sedimentation is clearly controlled by the Porto-
Tomar shear zone. Its thermal maturity is relatively low (within catagenesis
range) and the deformation milder, contrasting with the Albergaria-a-Velha Unit.
The contact between the two is tectonic. The field evidences and the thermal
maturity data of the basin and surrounding units point to an important regional
thermal and deformation event that took place between the Serpukovian and
the Gzhelian and another, essentially tectonic, between the Gzhelian and the
Carnian (Upper Triassic).
The Santa Susana basin has similarities with the Buçaco basin as it is also
within an important shear zone, in this case separating the Ossa-Morena and
South Portuguese Zones. Its age is kasimovian, and possibly moscovian
(middle Pennsylvanian). The thermal evolution of the basin and the structural
relations with the surrounding units point to a regional scale thermal and
tectonic event occurring between the Viséan and the (?)Moscovian-
Kasimovian.
The detailed study of several occurrences of the Odivelas Limestone allow an
insight to the regional palaeogeography of the Western Ossa-Morena Zone
during the latest Emsian – Givetian interval (latest lower Devonian – middle
Devonian): marine (and possibly sub-aerial) volcanic activity forming volcanic
buildings on top of which reef communities developed (and possibly on
structural highs). The reef biota persisted, in terms of diversity, during all or
most of this time interval. The basal Choteč event is recorded in one of these
occurrences.FCT - SFRH/BD/23787/2005POCI 2010 - medida IV.3QREN - POPH - Tipologia 4.
Big Data Storage
The utilities industry is at a pivotal point in its evolution. The most recent United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21 or CMP11) held in Paris, raised awareness for the deployment of strategies to slow down global warming. The increasing adoption of distributed renewable energy sources, and the bidirectional flow of energy, as well as the intelligent management of these resources, is one of the main key aspects of Smart Grids.
This new paradigm, which beyond the financial benefits for consumers, has the potential to reduce carbon emissions.

longo percurso neste sentido.Agility and its importance in the organizational context have been gaining strength, becoming
increasingly vital to the success of an organization. Human resources also seek to follow this trend by
becoming agile and cultivating agility in the organization in parallel.
The pandemic caused by COVID-19 seems to have contributed to a greater interest on this topic
by the academic community, with this dissertation aiming to contribute to realize the impact of COVID 19 in Human Resources Management and in the process of streamlining human resources, evaluating
the perception of the interviewees about the concept of agility and agile HR practices in use in the
organization.
In this regard, a qualitative case study was developed, where ten semi-structured interviews were
conducted to collect empirical data with Human Resources professionals, as well as technical team
members of a technological multinational.
The analysis of the data obtained from the interviews allowed us to perceive the degree of agility
of the HR of the organization under study, as well as the perceived impact of the pandemic generated by
COVID-19 in this process of agilization.
The results from the present study reveal a real contribution of the pandemic to the agilization
of Human Resources, and the existence of several agile practices in this department. They show,
however, a lower degree of agility compared to technical and development teams, and that there is a
long journey towards it
