In today’s dynamic business environment, competition is no longer between firms, but between supply chains. The supply chain dependency leads the business focused on supply chain performance. Considering the importance given to the third industrial master plan by the Malaysia government, current supply chain environment accentuated the need of supply chain technology adoption to facilitate supply chain management. To explain the concerns, this study examined the impact of supply chain capabilities namely, relational capability, information technology capability, and organizational culture capability on supply chain operational performance and supply chain technology adoption. This study also examines the successive impact of supply chain technology adoption on supply chain operational performance and investigates whether supply chain technology adoption mediates supply chain capabilities and performance relationship under study. In order to achieve the research objectives, a two-step approach namely quantitative research method and a triangulation research approach are necessitated. 201 survey questionnaires were distributed to respondents in Malaysian textile and apparel organizations. 121 usable responses representing 60% response rate were empirically tested through structural equation modeling by using SPSS and SmartPLS. Research findings revealed that relational capability, organizational culture capability, and supply chain technology adoption contributed to firm’s supply chain operational performance, whereas, information technology capability was insignificant. The findings further revealed that supply chain capabilities have a positive influence to supply chain technology adoption. The findings also revealed a significant mediation effect of supply chain technology adoption in the model under study. A triangulation research approach was employed through face-to-face interviews with four industry practitioners to get their in-depth experiences and perceptions on the model under study. ATLAS.ti results showed that developed model had achieved agreement of industry experts with the suggestion of two emerging terms (human support and work experience) as moderators for future study on the model. Limitations and recommendations for future study are discussed

In the era of the fourth industrial revolution, big data and predictive analytics (BDPA) capabilities considered as one of the significant resources that enable a firm to gain competitiveness. Nowadays, the advancement of technology information increases the difficulty of the firm to manage vast amounts of structured and unstructured data. The excessive growth between data captured and the firm’s capabilities to manage, process, analyze, and transfer the big data to actionable knowledge and value still challenges many firms in the competitive market. Besides, the lack of tangible resources, technical skills, management skills, organizational learning, and data-driven culture are some of the challenges for firms to apply analytics approach to support the data processing process. These situations led to poor decision making by the firm and result in high operation cost and lower profitability. However, the situation will be different if the firm able to manage BDPA capabilities in the right way. Based on the identified problems, this study aims to review the impact of BDPA capabilities on a firm’s financial performance. This study is expected to enhance the body of knowledge on BDPA capabilities and the firm’s financial performance. This study also provides information regarding the importance of BDPA capabilities on the firm’s financial performance to industrial practitioners. An empirical study on this subject matter is suggested for future researchers, especially in Malaysia manufacturing industry

Inventory accuracies need to be achieved to obtain efficient inventory management for a company. The problem of the study is the gaps of inventory accuracy between the ideal and actual KPI in ABC manufacturing company. ABC manufacturing company was chosen because the company experiences issues with inventory accuracy. Thus, this study aims to analyze the inventory accuracy of ABC manufacturing company, investigate the root causes affecting inventory inaccuracy in ABC manufacturing company, and propose a technology and best practices to improve the company's inventory accuracy. The study applied a qualitative research design, in which several interviews were conducted to get the data from the company. Besides, fishbone diagram analysis (Ishikawa diagram) is used to analyze the root causes of inventory inaccuracies in ABC manufacturing company. This study reveals that inventory inaccuracy is influenced by bill of materials (BOM) errors, wrong inventory counting and inventory shrinkage. Inaccurate inventories affect the optimal function of the company supply chain and directly impact its sales activities. This study proposes implementing a smart antenna in a radio frequency identification (RFID) scanner in improving inventory accuracy. This will be the best option for ABC manufacturing company because the finished products from the site of the operations are transported across the road through a conveyor bridge into the finished goods warehouse. A smart antenna RFID reader can provide a greater coverage area for each cell site

In recent years, the significance and prevalence of distributed ledger technology have grown. However, there is a lack of empirical studies examining the managerial and technological aspects essential for implementing it in the distribution network. The objective of this research is to develop a comprehensive framework for the adoption of blockchain technology in the entire distribution chain. This will be achieved by identifying the factors that facilitate adoption and experimentally evaluating their interdependencies and effects on adoption through empirical evidence collection. A quantitative approach was used to assess the model's main objective. The study focused on the medicine manufacturing industry to gather responses regarding the intention to use blockchain technology and its impact on supply chain performance. The findings revealed a significant positive relationship in the hypothetical model. Additionally, secondary data analysis, which considered previous research and online surveys, was conducted to assess the impact of blockchain technology on supply chain performance and the mediating role of supply chain transparency

This study highlights macarons product research conducted in a bakery shop in France. It is aims to optimize the quality of the macarons products via the integration of Six Sigma and Quality Management System, ISO 9001. To achieve the objective, the study first identifies the primary root cause of product defects. Besides, an alternative standard operating procedure is incorporated with the recommended improvements. The DMAIC approach is emphasized by the Six Sigma approach, which is Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control. According to the data, the cost of poor quality for a month is 34,511.40 Euro. Cracked macarons (53.70%), hollow macarons (16.30%), and no feet macarons (16.10%) are three major critical defects. The macarons product has a Sigma level of 2.50. The parameters proposed in this study are low-level mixing at 80 rpm, 12 minutes of baking time, and 203°c oven temperature to improve the quality of macarons product using the Design of Experiment (DOE) of the Taguchi Method. When the major elements are controlled inside the processes, the company's chances of producing a high-quality product increase significantly. As a result of adopting Six Sigma with Quality Management System ISO 9001 into the macaron manufacturing process, defects costs and rate is expected to be lower

Facilities, inventory, transportation, information, sourcing and pricing are the six supply chain drivers that determine the capability of gaining competitive advantage within a supply chain management. The constant growth of tourism industry in Malaysia has led to the rise of the hospitality industry over the recent years. However, some industries are still using inefficient and less responsive strategies to run their supply chain activities. Therefore, the supply chain drivers will be investigated based on their performance on achieving competitive advantage in hospitality company. The qualitative method used is by interviewing the manager of the selected hospitality company with interview protocol, which is a semistructured questionnaire. The qualitative data were analysed using qualitative data analysis software, ATLAS.ti. The result indicated that a good use of six supply chain drivers will definitely help a hospitality company in achieving the balance between responsiveness and efficiency. This study concluded that the performance of supply chain drivers is relatively important, to boost a hospitality company to gain their competitive advantage among competitors. Therefore, this study can be relevant for hospitality company to know how to gain competitive advantage through the supply chain driver
