Cosmological Implications of the Tetron Model of Elementary Particles
Based on a possible solution to the tetron spin problem, a modification of
the standard Big Bang scenario is suggested, where the advent of a spacetime
manifold is connected to the appearance of tetronic bound states. The metric
tensor is constructed from tetron constituents and the reason for cosmic
inflation is elucidated. Furthermore, there are natural dark matter candidates
in the tetron model. The ratio of ordinary to dark matter in the universe is
calculated to be 1:5.Comment: 23 page
Cultivating Social Resources on Social Network Sites: Facebook Relationship Maintenance Behaviors and Their Role in Social Capital Processes
This study explores the relationship between perceived bridging social capital and specific Facebook‐enabled communication behaviors using survey data from a sample of U.S. adults (N=614). We explore the role of a specific set of Facebook behaviors that support relationship maintenance and assess the extent to which demographic variables, time on site, total and “actual” Facebook Friends, and this new measure (Facebook Relationship Maintenance Behaviors) predict bridging social capital. Drawing upon scholarship on social capital and relationship maintenance, we discuss the role of social grooming and attention‐signaling activities in shaping perceived access to resources in one's network as measured by bridging social capital.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/108031/1/jcc412078.pd
Polarized top decay into polarized W: t(up)->W(up) + b at O(alpha_s)
We consider the decay of a polarized top quark into a polarized W-boson plus
a bottom quark, followed by the decay of the W-boson into a pair of leptons or
quarks. The polar angle distribution of the top spin relative to the W-momentum
and the polar angle distribution of the lepton (or quark) in the W-rest frame
is governed by three polarized and three unpolarized rate functions which are
related to the double density matrix elements of the decay . We
obtain analytical expressions for the radiative corrections to
the three polarized and three unpolarized rate functions. We also provide a
comprehensive discussion of the dependence of the longitudinal, transverse and
normal polarization of the top quarks produced at -colliders on beam
polarization parameters.Comment: 13 pages, 3 postscript figures added, file standard.sty included,

Summer Faculty Internships: An Attractive Faculty Development Alternative
The objective of any faculty development program is to provide an environment, an opportunity for growth and renewal. At Tarrant County Junior College South Campus, an imaginative program has been established as a partnership between the College and local businesses and industries. Since the summer of 1992, computer science faculty members have participated in summer faculty internships in which they are placed in a local organization for six weeks and work along side the computer professionals of that organization day by day. This internship program provides faculty opportunities for reviving technical skills, learning new skills, observing first-hand the impact of the computer revolution, and rekindling the flame of enthusiasm for their profession and discipline. Results of the first two summer programs are summarized and payoffs both to the host organization and to the academic institution are described
