    The effects of serious gaming simulation of child sexual abuse interviews with avatars paired with feedback on interview quality with real children

    Antud uurimuse eesmärgiks oli välja selgitada, kas tagasisidestatud tõsimänguline EIT küsitlustreening parandab reaalses küsitlussituatsioonis lapsega läbiviidud intervjuu kvaliteeti. 61 katseisikut (47 naist, Mvanus = 23.38a, SD = 3.83), kelle andmeid analüüsiti, küsitlesid küsitlemistreeningus kuut lapsavatari võimaliku seksuaalse väärkohtlemise kohta ning nädala pärast küsitlesid nad kahte last lasteaias korraldatud sündmuse kohta. Uuringus leiti, et treeningus tagasisidestatud katseisikud kasutasid rohkem soovitatud küsimusi (p < .01 ηp2 = .11), kui treeningus tagasisidet mittesaanud grupp. Lastelt saadud tõeste detailide osakaal katsegruppide vahel ei erinenud (p = .74, ηp2 < .01). Tulemustest selgub, et EIT mõju kandub üle ka pärielus tehtavatele intervjuudele. Seetõttu võib see olla efektiivne treeningmeetod, kuid tuleb selgitada, kas sarnane mõju avaldub ka tarkvara teistesse keeltesse kohandamisel ning politseiuurijatest valimiga

    The Role of Self-dehumanisation in Radicalisation to Peaceful and Violent Political Activism

    Taking the significance quest (Kruglanski et al., 2014) approach to radicalisation, this dissertation examined if self-dehumanisation could explain why some people turn to violent radicalism and others to peaceful activism to restore significance in life. I hypothesised that significance loss induces self-dehumanisation which subsequently warrants political violence. Study 1, a cross-sectional online study (N = 183), tested the mediating effect of self-dehumanisation on the relationship between significance loss and radicalism/activism. Study 2, an experimental online study with a between-subjects design (N = 264) where significance loss was manipulated using a recall task examined the causal links between significance loss and radicalism/activism, additionally testing the moderating effects of group vs. individual significance loss on this association. Study 1 demonstrated positive links between significance loss and peaceful activism, violent radicalism and self-dehumanisation. Dehumanising oneself was negatively related to peaceful activism; no support was found for its association with violent radicalism intentions. Study 2 showed the causal role of significance loss in enhancing peaceful activism and violent radicalism. The moderating effect of group vs. individual significance loss was not supported. This dissertation contributes to knowledge on the mechanisms of radicalisation, demonstrating self-dehumanisation’s activism-suppressing role for the first time

    What are the transition patterns into Higher Eduction? Flexible transitions to Higher Eduction are an exception rather than the usual way of entering Higher Eduction in most EUROSTUDENT VII countries. On average, 16 % of students enter Higher Eduction in a delayed manner, i.e. more than two years after leaving secondary school. An even smaller share of students (8 %) enters Higher Eduction using alternative access routes, i.e. without the standard upper secondary entry qualification obtained when leaving the regular school system for the first time, or having obtained it later in life (e.g. via evening classes or adult learning)
