    Meme ve uterus tümörü bulunan bir kedide vulvo-vaginal atresi olgusu

    The clinical, preoperative and postoperative findings taken from a case of vulvovaginal atresia in a queen with mammary tumors are reported here. The catheterization of the vulva showed only two small openings in dorsal and ventral comissura regions. During the ultrasonographic examination, uterine masses were observed. For treatment of mammary and uterine tumors, radical mastectomy and ovariohysterectomy were performed. In histopathological examination, mammary tumors and concurrent uterine mass were papillary adeocarcinoma and endometrial polyp, respectively. In this case nulliparity cause of vulval anomaly might be a predisposing factor for mammary and concurrent uterine tumors.Bu sunumda meme tümörlü bir kedideki vulvovaginal atresi olgusunun klinik, preoperatif ve postoperatif bulguları verilmiştir. Vulvanın kateterizasyonunda dorsal ve ventral komissurasında olmak üzere iki küçük açıklık olduğu görüldü. Uterusun ultrasonografik muayenesinde ise kitlelere rastladı. Meme ve uterusdaki kitlelerin tedavisi için radikal mastektomi ve ovaryohisterektomi operasyonları uygulandı. Histopatolojik incelemede memede papillar adenokarsinoma, uterusda ise endometriyal poliplerin varlığı belirlendi. Bu hastada vulval anomaliye bağlı nulliparite olgusunun meme tümörü ve eş zamanlı endometrial poliplerin oluşumu için predizpoze faktör olabileceği düşünülmektedi

    Damages of the main nutrient artery during the fractures may lead to poor repair or bone infarcts. Therefore, knowledge about the localization and number of nutrient foramina of bones is important in some surgical procedures such as bone implants, fracture repair, bone grafts. Foraminal index is calculated as dividing the distance between proximal end of the bone and nutrient foramen to the total bone length. One hundred and twelve femora of the 56 mature dogs were used in this study. The general morphometric parameters of femur; the total length, the cranio-caudal and medio-lateral diameters of mid-femur were taken. The numbers of the primary and secondary nutrient foramina were determined and the foraminal index was calculated. One foramen nutricium was determined at the 88 bones while two foramen at the 24 bones. The mean foraminal index was 36.4%, between ranges of 31.8% - 55.1% in dog femora. Statistical difference of foraminal index was not determined between male and female dog femora. These data may be valuable for surgeons in cases of total hip arthroplasty, intramedullary pin, and external fixation and also on evaluating period of fracture repair after surgery

    Many researchers are interested in femoral conformation because most orthopaedic problems of the long bones occur in the femur and its joints. The neck-shaft (NSA) and the anteversion (AVA) angles are good predictors for understanding the orientation of the proximal end of the femur. The varus (aLDFA) and procurvatum (CDFA) angles have also been used to understand the orientation of the distal end of the femur. The purposes of this study were to investigate the relationship between the proximal and distal angles of the femur and to compare the distal femoral angles in male and female dogs in order to investigate the sexual dimorphism. The measurements of normal CDFAs, which have not been previously reported, may also provide a database of canine distal femoral morphology

    KARA, Mehmet Erkut/0000-0002-5056-1688WOS: 000389730400002PubMed: 27743852The present study investigates the efficiency of liquid foam soap, ethanol, citric acid and benzalkonium chloride as a fixative-preservative solution (a soap-and ethanol-based fixing solution, or SEFS). In this study, ethanol serves as the fixative and preservative, liquid foam soap as the modifying agent, citric acid as the antioxidant and benzalkonium chloride as the disinfectant. The goat cadavers perfused with SEFS (n = 8) were evaluated over a period of one year with respect to hardness, colour and odour using objective methods. Colour and hardness were compared between one fresh cadaver and the SEFS-embalmed cadavers. Histological and Microbiological examinations were also performed in tissue samples. Additionally, the cadavers were subjectively evaluated after dissection and palpation. The SEFS provided the effectiveness expected over a 1-year embalming period for the animal cadavers. No bacteria or fungi were isolated except for some non-pathogenic Bacillus species. Visible mould was not present on either cadavers or in the surrounding environment. The cadavers maintained an appearance close to their original anatomical appearance, with muscles having good hardness and elasticity for dissection. (C) 2016 Elsevier GmbH.
