This study aimed to assess the operational feasibility and air mobility outcomes of introducing Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) vehicles in São Paulo City and the surrounding metropolitan area, utilizing the existing infrastructure of helipads and heliports. We analyzed the technical specifications of five eVTOL models capable of carrying at least four passengers to determine their compatibility with the 308 existing helipads in São Paulo. The results showed that between 64% and 99% of possible routes could be achieved by the eVTOL models, leading to increased air mobility benefits. Our findings suggest that integrating eVTOLs can be a crucial strategy in global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as outlined in the Paris Agreement of 2015. Financial mechanisms such as carbon credits and carbon offsets, which have existed since the Kyoto Protocol of 1997 can support this transition. Replacing helicopters with eVTOL aircraft could significantly reduce CO2 emissions, generating up to $1.3 million in carbon credits annually per eVTOL. A cost-benefit analysis revealed that the acquisition costs of EVTOLs are 77% lower than those of equivalent helicopters. Additionally, eVTOLs have the potential to alleviate São Paulo\u27s severe traffic congestion by reducing the number of cars on the road by an average of 8.6%, resulting in the avoidance of 52 million tons of CO2 emissions over ten years. The results of this study provide valuable insights and recommendations for policymakers and aviation stakeholders to integrate eVTOLs into São Paulo\u27s transportation system seamlessly

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to evaluate the incidence of adverse effects reported by adolescents following 14 days of use of a mouthrinse containing 0.05% NaF+0.12% chlorhexidine. METHODS: This double-blind study was developed as part of a randomized clinical trial. The adolescents enrolled to the study were randomly divided into two groups to use either: 0.05% NaF+0.12% chlorhexidine (G1, n=85) or 0.05% NaF (G2, n=85). Both groups used a 10mL solution of the mouthwash during 1 minute daily for 2 weeks under supervision. After that period, the subject's acceptance of taste was measured using a verbal descriptive scale (Labeled Magnitude Scale - LMS)11. Participants were also interviewed regarding the occurrence of possible adverse effects during treatment (temporary palate disorders, tooth staining or unpleasant taste). The proportional differences between the groups were tested using the chi-square test. RESULTS: Palate changes were reported by 26% of participants of each group; 17.7% of G1 and 32% of G2 reported an unpleasant taste (p = 0.062), while staining was reported by 55% of G1 and 68.9% of G2 (p = 0.117). Absenteeism rates were similar in both groups (G1= 2.58 ± 2.69; G2=2.81 ± 2.39), p=0.362. CONCLUSION: adherence was high in both groups and side effects reported by subjects were not perceived by them as being important. Since subjects' acceptance and compliance is fundamental to the success of an oral health program, chlorhexidine-fluoride could be a useful resource in a program of plaque control.OBJETIVO: Este estudo se propôs a calcular taxa de efeitos adversos após 14 dias de uso de solução de bochecho de NaF 0,05% + clorexidina 0,12% realizados por adolescentes.

Methodology: New PT Ultimate instruments (n = 248) were compared with instruments of similar dimensions from ProGlider (n = 31), PT Gold (n = 155) and PT Universal (n = 155) systems regarding their number of spirals, helical angle, blade symmetry, tip geometry, surface finishing, nickel/titanium ratio, phase transformation temperatures and mechanical performance. One-way anova and nonparametric Mood's median tests were used for statistical comparison (α = 5%). Results: All instruments had symmetrical blades without radial lands or flat sides, similar surface finishing and an almost equiatomic nickel/titanium ratio, whilst the number of spirals, helical angles and the tip geometry were different. PT Ultimate instruments showed 3 distinct heat treatments that matched with the colour of their metal wire. Slider and ProGlider instruments had similar R-phase start (Rs) and R-phase finish (Rf) temperatures. SX, F1, F2, F3 and Shaper instruments showed equivalent heat treatments (Rs ~45.6°C and Rf ~28.3°C) that were similar to their PT Gold counterparts (Rs ~47.9°C and Rf ~28.2°C), but completely distinct to the PT Universal ones (Rs ~16.2°C and Rf ~−18.2°C). Amongst the PT Ultimate instruments, the lowest maximum torques were observed in the SX (0.44 N cm), Slider (0.45 N cm) and Shaper (0.60 N cm) instruments, whilst the highest was noted in the FXL (4.90 N cm). PT Ultimate Slider and ProGlider had similar torsional (~0.40 N cm) and bending loads (~145.0 gf) (p = 1.000), whilst the other PT Ultimate instruments showed statistically significantly lower maximum torque, higher angle of rotation and lower bending load (higher flexibility) than their counterparts of the PT Universal and PT Gold systems. Conclusions: The PT Ultimate system comprises instruments with 3 distinct heat treatments that showed similar phase transformation temperatures to their heat-treated analogues. PT Ultimate instruments presented lower torsional strength and superior flexibility than their counterparts, whilst maximum torque, angle of rotation and bending loads progressively increased with their sizes.publishersversionpublishe

The objective of this study was to understand the determinative factors for packed red cell transfusions in elective digestive tract surgeries in four hospital units in Montes Claros, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Retrospective analyses were performed by collecting data from the clinical records of patients submitted to elective digestive tract surgeries from June 2007 to December 2008 at these four hospital units. Eighty-one cases (42% females and 58% males) were included in this study. The average age was 55.5 years old (Standard deviation ± 19.11 years). The commonest reported underlying disease was neoplasia (42%). Of these patients, 38 (47%) were transfused in the immediate preoperative period, 28 (34.6%) during the surgery and 37 (45.7%) in the immediate postoperative period. In the univariate analysis, there was an association between the data of transfusions and the different institutions. In the surgical phase, there were correlations between transfusion and the reason for transfusion, RH factor (Rhesus), institutional policy and the underlying disease. In the postoperative phase, no association was identified. In all phases, there were not correlations between the type of surgical procedures, ASA index (American Society of Anesthesiology), and hemoglobin and hematocrit values. Therefore, this study demonstrated that the blood transfusions in elective digestive tract surgeries were heterogeneous between hospitals and were not related to specific laboratorial values; they were associated to the underlying pathology, but not with the type of surgical procedure and generally followed the criteria of the healthcare specialist
