We examined seasonal reproductive patterns for the terrestrial isopod Hyloniscus riparius in Wisconsin. Samples collected from habitats in three Wisconsin regions were compared with regard to the reproductive status of population members. We also recorded differences in sex ratio and stage of female gravidity in all samples. Males were a minority in all samples. Southern samples showed the greatest reproductive capacity based on the proportion of females that were found to be gravid

Early Childhood Education Students Give Drama Workshops to Nursery Children

The nursery children range in ages of two to four years and are grouped into small groups of 6 to 9 children in each group. Iklim Organisasi dan Komitmen Terhadap Program Mesra Polis Diraja Malaysia : Satu Kajian di Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah Ampang Jaya Selangor

The Royal Malaysian Police has launched the service friendly program among it members to improve their organizational image. This program is carried out with the members of the Royal Malaysian Police to uphold a high level of commitment in achieving intended objectives. This study is aimed to see the relationship between the perception climate of the organization and the commitment in making the service friendly program a success among the police personals at the enquiry office in various police stations in Ampang Jaya, Selangor Police District. The result of the study shows that many respondents have a high level of knowledge about service friendly program. Where as, the commitment of the respondents towards the program are only at a satisfactory level. The relationship between perceptions of organizational climate and the program commitment from the climatic dimension of the organizational does not show a strong relationship. This is due to the culture in Royal Malaysian Police which exercise a strong discipline and orders from the superior and the rules of the force. Thus, the researcher propose that Royal Malaysian Police should conduct their internal study to find out which internal factor that can improve more the level of commitment among the members of the organization. As such all policies of the Royal Malaysian Police that will be implemented can bring in a positive culture which is more permanent in nature and therefore help the organization to achieve its goals

Terrestrial Gastropods at the UWM Cedar-Sauk Field Station

A base line survey of the terrestrial gastropod fauna of the UWM Field Station near Saukville was conducted from June-September 1978 to complement other faunistic surveys conducted at this locality and to increase our information on the distribution of these mollusks in southeastern Wisconsin. Minimizing Student in Crisis Incidents Through the Cultivation of Positive Teacher-Student Relationships

The purpose of this literature review is to examine the effects of positive teacher-student relationships on reducing challenging behaviors of students with emotional and behavioral disorders as well as “in crisis” occurrences. Teachers are often ill-prepared for managing challenging behaviors as well as supporting the emotional and social needs of students. In order for teachers to support students, they must first increase their own emotional literacy and receive explicit instruction on managing challenging student behaviors. Various social and emotional learning programs exist which focus on building positive teacher-student relationships through the emphasis on a positive culture and climate within a school system

Range extension for burrowing crayfish Procambarus (girardiella) gracilis (Bundy)

The range of Procambarus (Girardiella) gracilis (Bundy) runs in a fairly narrow band southwest of Wisconsin through Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Arkansas to the eastern edges of Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. It extends into Wisconsin only in the southeastern corner of the state, having been previously reported only as far north as Milwaukee County. Within this range Hobbs and Rewolinski (1985) have described its habitat to be regions that were originally prairies

Life cycle patterns in Wisconsin spiders

Five life cycle patterns in spiders are described and examples given. The most common pattern, maturation and mating in spring and early summer, is elaborated with a detailed description of the seasonal development of Philodromus cespitum. The four other patterns are exemplified by the following southeastern Wisconsin species: Argiope trifasciata--fall mating, Centromerus sylvaticus-- winter mating, Trochosa terricola--two mating seasons, and Pholcus phalangioides--year round mating

Wisconsin freshwater isopods (Asellidae)

Four species of freshwater isopods in the family Asellidae were collected from Wisconsin. There is very little published information on the asellid isopods of Wisconsin. In this paper we provide descriptions of the size range, habitat characteristics, distribution, and life history traits of Wisconsin asellids based on data from our field work and information from the literature.
