The article seeks to discuss the military civil relations in Colombia in the negotiation scenarios and the challenges implied by the Peace Agreement with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-FARC. This article describes a computer program designed to support the teaching of writing skills to pupils of Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (ESO) − compulsory secondary education − aged between 12 and 16 in Spain. Within this relatively under−investigated field, our aim was to provide language teachers with a tool that would help them tackle the difficulties pupils demonstrate when faced with a writing task. Such difficulties not only affect their performance in language study but also that in many other areas of the school curriculum and can even hinder access to certain cultural and social activities. The project was undertaken by the "Multimedia Educational Learning" Research Group at the Institute of Educational Sciences, University of Barcelona, which was set up to study the potential of information and communication technologies in education

Evaluation of HPCD batch treatments on enzyme inactivation kinetics and selected quality characteristics of cloudy juice from Golden delicious apples

    Get PDF
Cloudy apple juice has been treated by high pressure carbon dioxide (HPCD) as non-thermal technology to inactive polyphenoloxidase and pectinmethylesterase in batch mode. Stirring speed (from 200 to 600 rpm) induced an increase in the enzyme inactivation rate while a triple cycle of pressurization/depressurization led to the same enzyme inactivation efficiency. Enzyme inactivation kinetics were determined at different temperatures (from 35 to 45 °C) and pressures (from 10 to 20 MPa). Data were described by the first order kinetic model and the Weibull model. For the first order kinetic model, decimal reduction time for HPCD treatment was found to be smaller than for mild heating, in the same temperature range. The same tendency was observed for the first decimal reduction time in the Weibull model. HPCD treatment resulted in a homogenization effect reflected in the shifting of the particle size distribution towards smaller diameters after treatment. HPCD treatment did not result in a change of water and oxalate soluble pectin content, total phenolic compounds and hidroxymethylfurfural content.Spanish Government (MINECO) and the European Regional Development Fund for financial support of project CTQ2015-64396-R and AEI’s contract

    No full text
President Hugo Chávez Frías’ government has been controversial and characterized by renovating, or at least reorganizing, Venezuela’s political life. After over 6 years in power, the Venezuelan project is now being examined widely from the perspective of international relations, since the foreign policy is a crucial scenario for the consolidation of Chávez’ revolutionary project. In this sense, the purpose of this article is to discuss some aspects of the current Venezuelan foreign affairs policy based on the assumption that it will show its “alternative” characteristics in keeping with the degree to which Chávez’ project consolidates internally and disagreements woth the United States increase. The article suggests that current Venezuelan foreign policy will be a key element of the so called ‘Revolución Bolivariana’ being projected in the sphere of international relations.
