José Donoso, un indócil escribidor de diarios abriendo camino en la precaria tradición chilena

Para adentrarse en la lectura de los diarios de José Donoso, este trabajo reconstruye la ubicación de los géneros referenciales en la tradición chilena y su falta de reconocimiento cuando empieza la escritura de su primer cuaderno en 1950. Desde este contexto, más bien resistente a este tipo de escritura, se propone explorar en los propios diarios donisanos conservados en archivos de la Universidad de Iowa y de Princeton, la relación del narrador chileno con las escrituras del yo, sus reflexiones, influencias, así como las motivaciones que lo impulsaron a mantener la escritura diarística durante 45 años (1950-1995).

José Donoso: itinerario de un diario íntimo y vicisitudes de su edición

Intimate diaries tend to be highly vulnerable texts as they face self-censorship, little recognition in the cultural field and even destruction when they are left in the hands of descendants. The Chilean writer José Donoso left eighty notebooks that he began in 1950 and wrote until practically his death in 1996. If the writer did not publish them during his lifetime, why publish them post-mortem? And what is more relevant, under what criteria? This article aims to highlight the value of José Donoso's intimate diaries, to consider how they dialogue with his narrative work and, in particular, how to deal with the complexity involved in their publication.Los diarios íntimos suelen ser textos de alta vulnerabilidad al verse enfrentados a la autocensura, al poco reconocimiento en el campo cultural e incluso a la destrucción cuando quedan en manos de descendientes. El escritor chileno José Donoso dejó ochenta cuadernos que inició en 1950 y escribió hasta prácticamente su muerte en 1996. Si el escritor no los publicó en vida ¿por qué hacerlo post-mortem? Y lo que es más relevante ¿bajo qué criterios hacerlo? Este artículo se propone reflexionar en torno a dichas preguntas, poner en valor los diarios íntimos de José Donoso en diálogo con su obra narrativa y muy especialmente cómo abordar la complejidad que supone su edición
