    Mexican Lepidoptera biodiversity

    Get PDF
Being among the most habitat diverse countries in the world (and plant diversity is about 22,000 sp.), Mexico has a Lepidoptera fauna recorded at about 14,385 species but is estimated to be over 22,000 species, if not much higher (some estimates go to 35,000 sp.). High Lepidoptera numbers in Mexico are also due to the large influx of tropical species from the border with Guatemala, as well as Mexican endemics. In this report, the Lepidoptera families are summarized for Mexico, giving known species and what experts estimate to be the true total for each family when all have been described. Many regions of Mexico are still poorly known for smaller moths

High-latitude ionospheric winds related to solar-interplanetary conditions

    Get PDF
Treated jointly, two recent results imply that the distribution of winds in the polar ionosphere should change as a function of the direction of the interplanetary magnetic field. From the motions of chemically released ion and neutral clouds, it is apparent that neutral winds in the high-latitude ionosphere are driven principally by ion drag forces. OGO 6 electric field measurements demonstrate that there are definite relationships between the time/latitude distribution of ionospheric plasma convection and interplanetary magnetic field parameters, and also that the distribution is most sensitive to the azimuthal angle of the inter planetary field. Although direct neutral wind to interplanetary magnetic field comparisons are not available, logic clearly implies a close relationship. Observations of infrasonic waves following sudden ionization enhancements indicate the existence of momentum transfer

Describe Innovative and Creative Approaches to On-The-Go Learning

    Get PDF
As the landscape of technology changes, businesses are seeking the best ways to incorporate on-the-go learning into educating employees. Recognizing this, when using mobile education for knowledge transfer it is beneficial to look at companies successfully implementing such training and what they are doing in terms of utilizing innovation and newest trends of on-the-go learning. The purpose of this article is to offer a snapshot of what is on the forefront of mobile learning and the organizations putting these approaches into practice

The Heppner community strategic plan : A strategic plan for the economic and community development of the community of Heppner, Oregon

27 pp. Bookmarks supplied by UO. Published June, 1999. Captured December 10, 2007.A decade ago [prior to 1999], the Heppner Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) was founded to guide job maintenance and expansion in the community. In September of 1990, a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis was completed. One of its recommendations was that HEDC develop a strategic plan to plot the course to Heppner's future. Representatives from across the community were invited to form a Community Response Team which then went on to develop the original strategic plan entitled Vision 2000 Goals and Strategies. Upon completion of the Heppner Strategic Plan, the community response team renamed themselves "Heppner Coordinating Council" or HCC for short. Members represent a variety of economic and social community groups and interested individuals that share a common mission of building the economic health, unity, and progress of the Heppner area. One of the main duties of HCC is to regularly update the strategic plan and revise it as needed. Enough changes have occurred within the community and the region that a revision is now appropriate. Environmental analysis of the chemical release module

    Get PDF
The environmental analysis of the Chemical Release Module (a free flying spacecraft deployed from the space shuttle to perform chemical release experiments) is reviewed. Considerations of possible effects of the injectants on human health, ionosphere, weather, ground based optical astronomical observations, and satellite operations are included. It is concluded that no deleterious environmental effects of widespread or long lasting nature are anticipated from chemical releases in the upper atmosphere of the type indicated for the program

Solar Generation\u27s Impact on Fault Current

    Get PDF
California is paving the road for other states with the capacity of solar installations for residential and commercial entities. The added capacity of solar generation to the state\u27s electric grid has an impact on power flow and fault currents. This project looks at the impact of solar installations on fault currents. Feeders with added residential rooftop solar and larger commercial solar installations may impact the system differently than a large, utility-sized solar installation. This project looks at the impact of both cases on the magnitude of fault current during many different fault types and locations that can occur within a utility system
