Nitrogen management of wheat cultivars for higher productivity - A review

    Get PDF
The increased population pressure has led to the maximum use of chemical fertilizers especially in the major crops such as rice, wheat and maize production. India has an ever growing population needing food and also the growing urban middle class with higher standards of living is on the lookout for better quality product. The introduction of improved seeds increases the utility of traditional inputs and their consumption as well. Because of genetic variation, BVC 223, Qingnong 8, IPA99, CT 01217, Luomai 8, Seher 06, Sistan, Punjab 2011, Rasco 2005, PBW 343, Halna, HP 1744, VL Gehun 892, WH 1022, PBW 621, and PBW 550 cultivars of wheat crop differ in growth and development behaviour and respond higher to different nitrogen management practices. However, ever increasing prices of Nitrogen (N) fertilizers and possibilities of environmental pollution and groundwater contamination warn for their judicious and efficient use. The application of essential plant nutrients particularly N nutrient in optimum quantity (120-150 kg/ha) and right proportion (3-4 splits) through correct methods and time of application (LCC and green seeker based) is the key to increased and sustained crop production. The increase in quality due to nitrogen fertilization (120-330 kg/ha) may be due to its role in activation of cells division, metabolic and photosynthesis process and nutritive status of wheat plant. Keeping in view above all facts in mind, performance of wheat cultivars as influenced by different nitrogen rates will be discussed in this review

Bayesian Regularization based Neural Network Tool for Software Effort Estimation

Rapid growth of software industry leads to need of new technologies. Software effort estimation is one of the areas that need more concentration. Exact estimation is always a challenging task. Effort Estimation techniques are broadly classified into algorithmic and non-algorithmic techniques. An algorithmic model provides a mathematical equation for estimation which is based upon the analysis of data gathered from previously developed projects and Non-algorithmic techniques are based on new approaches, such as Soft Computing Techniques. Effective handling of cost is a basic need for any Software Organization. The main tasks for Software development estimation are determining the effort, cost and schedule of developing the project under consideration. Underestimation of project done knowingly just to win contract results into loses and also the poor quality project. So, accurate cost estimation leads to effective control of time and budget during software development. This paper presents the performance analysis of different training algorithms of neural network in effort estimation. For sake of ease, we have developed a tool in MATLAB and at last proved that Bayesian Regularization [20] gives more accurate results than other training algorithms

Recent Advances in Green Synthesis of Ag NPs for Extenuating Antimicrobial Resistance

Combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is an on-going global grand challenge, as recognized by several UN Sustainable Development Goals. Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) are well-known for their efficacy against antimicrobial resistance, and a plethora of green synthetic methodologies now exist in the literature. Herein, this review evaluates recent advances in biological approaches for Ag NPs, and their antimicrobial potential of Ag NPs with mechanisms of action are explored deeply. Moreover, short and long-term potential toxic effects of Ag NPs on animals, the environment, and human health are briefly discussed. Finally, we also provide a summary of the current state of the research and future challenges on a biologically mediated Ag-nanostructures-based effective platform for alleviating AMR

A case report of sciatic hernia as a cause of sciatica and lower back pain: Diagnostic dilemma for family physicians

    No full text
Degenerative changes in lumbosacral spine or disc bulges impinging on the thecal sac are the usual causes of sciatica. However peripheral compression of sciatic nerve in pelvis or lower limb presenting as sciatica is an uncommon entity. The sciatic hernia is a rare type of hernia. Due to the deep location of this pathology, the clinical examination would add little and imaging plays a pivotal role in diagnosis. We present a case of sciatica diagnosed with giant gluteal lipoma presenting as sciatic notch hernia and compressing sciatic nerve in the greater sciatic notch. Less than 100 cases are reported in the literature so far. The possibility of this rare diagnosis should be kept in mind by family physicians while evaluating patients of sciatica with no significant imaging findings in lumbosacral spine

Comparative Analysis of organizational culture of public and private colleges in Punjab-An Empirical Study

The importance of corporate culture is emphasized that, without exception, the dominance and coherence of culture proved to be an essential quality of the excellent companies. Moreover the stronger the culture, the more it was directed to the marketplace, the less need was there for policy manuals, organization charts, detailed procedures or rules. This study was an attempt to look at educational institutes (both private and government) and ascertain the prevailing as well as the expected culture.. This study generated valuable information on the current as well as preferred culture of the colleges. It would also provide management with the present level of employee commitment that is prevalent within the company
