Analysis strategies and software for geodetic VLBI
This article describes currently used analysis strategy and data analysis
software for geodetic VLBI.Today's geodetic observing strategies are shortly
presented, and the geodetic VLBI observables and data modeling are briefly
discussed. A short overview is given on existing geodetic VLBI software
packages and the statistical approaches that are applied. Necessary
improvements of today's analysis software are described. Some of the future
expectations and goals of geodetic VLBI are presented and the corresponding
consequences for the VLBI technique are explained. This includes consequences
in terms of technical development and corresponding improvements in data

Cosmopolitans and Locals: Status Rivalries, Deference, and Knowledge in International Teams
Drawing on sociological role theory, this chapter introduces and explains the distinction between cosmopolitan and local role orientations as status categories in international teams. Qualitative data from a multi-method field study conducted at a leading international development agency illustrate that the high status of cosmopolitans and locals in this setting was based on expectations that these team members would enable their teams to more effectively interpret knowledge obtained from outside sources. The possible dynamics of status rivalry and deference in teams with cosmopolitan and local membership are explored, and their implications for team performance are addressed. Status in groups thus is viewed as both contested and contingent on the situation
Acquiring and Applying Knowledge in Transnational Teams: The Roles of Cosmopolitans and Locals
This paper examines the roles of cosmopolitans and locals in transnational teams that work on knowledge-intensive projects. I propose that cosmopolitan and local team members can help their teams to acquire and apply knowledge more effectively, by bringing both internal and external knowledge to their teams and enabling them to more successfully transform this knowledge into improved project performance. Findings from a study of 96 project teams at an international development agency reveal that the roles of cosmopolitans and locals were complex and sometimes valuable, but cosmopolitans offered greater benefits than locals and too many of each could hurt. Implications for theory and research on international management, virtual teams, exploration and exploitation, and organizational knowledge are discussed

invariant from Noether symmetry methods, are not new
Remote sensing applications for range management
The use of satellite information for range management is discussed. The use of infrared photography and color photography for analysis of vegetation cover is described. The methods of interpreting LANDSAT imagery are highlighted and possible applications of such interpretive methods to range management are considered. The concept of using LANDSAT as a sampling frame for renewable natural resource inventories was examined. It is concluded that a blending of LANDSAT vegetation data with soils and digital terrain data, will define a basic sampling unit that is appropriate for range management utilization
Extending the functional equivalence of radial basis functionnetworks and fuzzy inference systems
We establish the functional equivalence of a generalized class of Gaussian radial basis function (RBFs) networks and the full Takagi-Sugeno model (1983) of fuzzy inference. This generalizes an existing result which applies to the standard Gaussian RBF network and a restricted form of the Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy system. The more general framework allows the removal of some of the restrictive conditions of the previous result

Instabilities and propagation of neutrino magnetohydrodynamic waves in arbitrary direction
In a previous work [16], a new model was introduced, taking into account the
role of the Fermi weak force due to neutrinos coupled to magnetohydrodynamic
plasmas. The resulting neutrino-magnetohydrodynamics was investigated in a
particular geometry associated with the magnetosonic wave, where the ambient
magnetic field and the wavevector are perpendicular. The corresponding fast,
short wavelength neutrino beam instability was then obtained in the context of
supernova parameters. The present communication generalizes these results,
allowing for arbitrary direction of wave propagation, including fast and slow
magnetohydrodynamic waves and the intermediate cases of oblique angles. The
numerical estimates of the neutrino-plasma instabilities are derived in extreme
astrophysical environments where dense neutrino beams exist
