Implementation of Digital Modulator Using Digital Multiplier for Wireless Applications in Verilog and Cadence

    Get PDF
AbstractThe digital communication is more advantageous than analog communication. Digital components and subsystems are easy to build than analog components. As the implementation in VLSI technology progressed, the cost of the integrated circuits is gradually reduced. The components used in digital communication systems are robust and insensitive to atmospheric conditions and ensures good protection against noise and interference. The digital design offers more flexibility than analog design. The proposed digital Quadrature Phase Shift Keying(QPSK)modulator is based on digital multiplier called booth multiplier. This work is simulatedin Integrated Simulated Environment (ISE), Incisive simulators of Xilinx9.1i and Cadence tool respectively. The code is synthesized using Cadence RTL compiler and implemented on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) spatan3 kit. The performance parameters such as power, area, and timing are analyzed and compared. This proposal gives better results than the conventional method of using analog multiplier for QPSK system

Effect of pH and nanoclay content on the morphology and physicochemicalproperties of soy protein/montmorillonite nanocomposite obtained byextrusion

    Get PDF
The present work attempts to clarify the influence of montmorillonite nanoclay content and pH on the me-chanical properties of extruded soy protein nanocomposites. The mechanical behaviour is dominated by theformation of positive synergies between protein and nanoclay above a nanoclay concentration threshold. Moreover, the presence of nanoclay can improve water uptake. The pH also exerts a strong influence on me-chanical and water absorption properties, although montmorillonite tend to reduce this effect.Eventually, this study put forward the feasibility of using a combination of soy protein and montmorillonite toobtain potentially attractive biodegradable nanocomposite materials, processed by means of a simple and easilyscalable twin-screw extruder.

The purpose of this study was to investigate secondary school students’ performance when translating graphs to tables and then interpreting the resulting table. Using content analysis of the responses to a questionnaire given to a sample of Spanish students, we analysed the correctness of the constructed table, the semiotic conflicts that appeared in their construction, the interpretation of the table elements, the ability to argue on the basis of the information in the table, and the reading level exhibited by the student in this task. Most students correctly translated a pictogram to a frequency table, and a half of them a double bar graph to a two-way table. The main semiotic conflicts were misinterpretation of the icon in the pictogram and incorrect computation of marginal frequencies. About 40% of the sample correctly justified a statement using the data in the graph and then reached the upper reading level of the graph and table, but only a minority achieved that level when the question required knowledge of the context. The findings of the study suggested points to reinforce the teaching of statistical graphs and tables.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovacion research group FQM-126 (Junta de Andalucia, Spain) PID2019-105601GB-I00/AEIANID 7219028

Star-shaped wheel for mechanical micro-Doppler modulation

    Get PDF
This letter investigates the possibility of using deliberated geometries for rotating targets, which may improve the detectability and classification by means of its micro-Doppler signature. Beyond the signature provided by the rotation rate of the target, every particular geometry leads to specific and unique modulation waveforms that increase the information related to this target. Different star-shaped wheels with particular geometries have been designed demonstrating different reflection characteristics and modulation waveforms. The signature of these rotating star-shaped wheels has been measured in an anechoic chamber using a general-purpose 24 GHz frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar platform and a detection algorithm based on the derivative of the cross-correlation is proposed to validate the proposed approach

Biorefinery concept in the meat industry: From slaughterhouse biowastes to superaborbent materials

    Get PDF
The expansion of food production has a large environmental impact in many ways. More specifically, 30–40% of total food production is lost as wastes and/or by-products before it reaches the market. In this sense, blood is an inevitable by-product in the meat industry that typically consists of 3–5% of the total weight of the animal. The dry organic matter present in blood is mostly protein, which can be employed more efficiently as raw material in the development of biodegradable materials. In the present manuscript, the blood collected after slaughtering of Iberian pigs was centrifuged and the upper (i.e., plasma) and bottom (i.e., red cells) layers were separated. Three freeze-dried fractions were characterized and evaluated on terms of their potential in the field of bioplastics: whole blood, plasma and bottom layer. Albumin was detected clearly in the plasma fraction, while globulins in red cells. After their characterization samples were mixed thoroughly with glycerol and injection molded at 120 ◦C. Special applications may be proposed for every fraction (i.e., whole blood, plasma or red cells), as the materials displayed different properties depending on the raw material employed. Thus, plasma resulted in materials with a greater deformability and swelling capacity during immersion, resulting in superabsorbent materials when processed at milder conditions (80 ◦C)The authors acknowledge the projects PID2021-124294OB-C21 and PID2021-124294OB-C22 funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/ 501100011033/ and by “ERDF A way of making Europe” which sup- ported this study. Microwave microphone using a general purpose 24 GHz FMCW radar

    Get PDF
The usage of a commercial 24 GHz frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar sensor to retrieve sound signals is investigated in this article. Thanks to the great phase measurement capabilities of current radar sensors, low-frequency audio signals can be recovered by measuring the vibrations they induce in objects due to their pressure wave nature. To prove the concept, a sound emitted by a speaker is recorded by analysing the small-scale displacement of a reflective surface using a radar sensor originally devised for automotive and UAV applications at the 24 GHz ISM band

    Get PDF

This project presents a synthesis procedure for acoustic wave ladder filters and duplexers taking also into consideration the case of networks whose first resonator is in shunt configuration. The feasibility of these networks in terms of the phase of the filter function is investigated and a lowpass synthesis view of the issues that might arise is presented providing different approaches for designers to achieve feasible networks.
