    El alumnado con TDAH (hiperactividad) como colectivo en riesgo de exclusión social: propuestas de acción y de mejora

    La hiperactividad es algo más que un trastorno simple, negativo y defectuoso. Las personas con TDAH tienen un potencial latente del que nadie habla (como la creatividad, el ingenio, la hiperconcentración, la sensibilidad, entre otros). Ser hiperactivo es positivo si tenemos la habilidad de comprender y tratar el trastorno desde una perspectiva educativa diferente ya que el alumnado con TDAH es uno de los colectivos que suman más amonestaciones, sanciones y expulsiones en los centros educativos de nuestro país. Sin embargo, estos niños pueden tener éxito académico y, posteriormente, en su vida laboral y afectiva, si previamente hemos sabido comprenderlos y actuar con un proceso educativo adecuado a su idiosincrasia y si hemos sabido otorgar cierto grado de organización y reencauzamiento en sus mentes a veces infravaloradas. Para ello, las administraciones públicas educativas deben desarrollar estrategias de formación eficientes para formar a un profesorado que, muchas veces, asiste desorientado e impotente a un comportamiento caótico, desordenado e impulsivo que puede provocar serios conflictos no sólo en la enseñanza sino en el mismo clima de convivencia escolar.Hyperactivity is more than a simple, negative and defective disorder. People with ADAH have a latent potential which nobody talks about (like the creativity, wit, hyperconcentration, sensitivity, etc.) To be a hyperactive is positive if we have the ability of understanding and treating the disorder from a different educational perspective, because the students with ADAH is one of the collectives which adds more punishments, sanctions and expulsions in the educational centres of our country. However, these children can succeed academically and later in their job and affective life, if we have previously been able to understand them and act with an appropriate educational process to their idiosyncratic aspects and if we have given certain organizational level and guidance in their minds sometimes underestimated. For these reasons, the public educational administrations must develop sufficient formative strategies to train a teaching staff that sometimes is disoriented and impotent towards a chaotic, disordered and impulsive behaviour which can provoke serious conflicts not only in the teaching but in the same climate of school living.Fil: Guerrero López, José Francisco. Cuando era un niño veía en las calles de mi pueblo natal a un hombre que realizaba aleteos con las manos, que hacía esterotipias con los dedos y que caminaba de puntillas. Recuerdo que tenía una gabardina sucia y llena de remiendos y que se arrojaba al suelo con las manos extendidas como si fuera un pájaro que ha perdido su capacidad de volar. Lo que más me impactó de este hombre-gaviota fue la mirada que una vez mantuvo conmigo. Como algunas personas se reían de él yo creo que me quería decir ¿por qué me hacen esto

    The Interrelation Between Emotional Impulsivity, Craving, and Symptoms Severity in Behavioral Addictions and Related Conditions: a Theory‑Driven Systematic Review

    Purpose of Review Here, we systematically review all available evidence on the triadic relationship between positive and negative urgency, craving, and severity of symptoms of candidate behavioral addictions. Recent Findings Current theoretical models attribute a central importance to craving in the chronification and prognosis of behavioral addictions and other problematic non-substance-related behavioral patterns. Craving, in turn, has been convincingly shown to be an affect-laden state, and its control can be conceptualized as partially resulting from emotion regulation mechanisms. However, some gaps remain: first, there is no consensus on the predominantly appetitive or aversive nature of craving; and, second, although positive and negative urgency have been proposed as proxies to incidental emotion regulation mechanisms, their direct or indirect role in craving regulation and severity of problematic behaviors is still poorly known. Summary According to our results, craving emerges as a central construct, partially resulting from emotion dysregulation as assessed by urgency. The preponderance of positive urgency shown by most studies in this review also reinforces the view of positive emotions as a ‘trojan horse’ in addictive processes. Negative urgency, in turn, seems to be a complication factor that could underlie gambling addiction and other related mental health conditions.     Assessment of the denaturation of collagen protein concentrates using different techniques

    The use of collagen and gelatin in the field of regenerative medicine is widely extended. However, most of the studies in this topic are focused on the scaffolds’ properties, but only a few are related to the properties of the raw material used. The raw material analysis not only consists of a study of the composition, but also of the denaturation degree that can influence the processing and properties of the structure of the scaffold. Thus, the denaturation degree analysis of different collagen proteins was performed and assessed by the comparison of four different methods: differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and circular dichroism (CD) spectra and sulfhydryls content analysis. DSC measurements put forward a glass transition between 88°C and 95°C as well as from the FTIR measurements; the characteristic peaks for proteins are evidenced. However, from the sulfur content, only a small proportion of free sulfhydryls are present with respect to their total amount. In addition, CD spectra allow to estimate the secondary structure of the protein by the analysis of the α-helix and β-strand and also quantify the denaturation degree with the ‘positive/negative ratio’ (RPN) from the CD profiles, obtaining values in the range between 25% and 100%.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (Spanish Government) / MINECO/FEDER (UE) CTQ2015-71164-

    Impact of the Pandemic on STEAM Disciplines in the Sixth Grade of Primary Education

    The demand for professionals entering the labor market requires knowledge and disciplines in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM). Schools are the first link to train competent students for today’s society. However, the pandemic has conditioned the teaching–learning methodologies based on promoting STEAM in educational centers, which is the reason that leads us to carry out this study. The main objective of the research is to evaluate the STEAM dimensions in the sixth grade of primary education in times of pandemic. The study method is based on a quasi-experimental, descriptive and correlational design with an experimental group and a control group. The data are collected through a validated questionnaire, pre-test and post-test, which develops an assessment of student collaboration in STEAM activities. The sample is made up of 142 Spanish students, of which 68 belong to the control group and 74 to the experimental group. The conclusions of the study highlight that the active methodologies, based on computational thinking and on makerspaces of the future classroom, influenced the STEAM dimensions of the experimental group before the pandemic. However, the pandemic and the health restrictions in face-to-face classes led to a negative assessment of the experimental group in the STEAM dimensions

    La digitalización de objetos tridimensionales se ha convertido en una de las herramientas más útiles en el desarrollo de productos debido a la creciente utilización de las técnicas de la ingeniería inversa en la manufactura de productos. La reproducción de la geometría de los productos proporciona ventajas relacionadas con la reducción de tiempos y costos con un alto grado de precisión. Este trabajo presenta el diseño y la implementación de un escáner tridimensional de superficies que permite reproducir las geometrías utilizando un instrumento de medición constituido por una cámara digital y un rayo láser posicionado por medio de un brazo robot.     The Rhizobial Type 3 Secretion System: The Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in the Rhizobium–Legume Symbiosis

    Rhizobia are soil bacteria that can establish a symbiotic association with legumes. As a result, plant nodules are formed on the roots of the host plants where rhizobia differentiate to bacteroids capable of fixing atmospheric nitrogen into ammonia. This ammonia is transferred to the plant in exchange of a carbon source and an appropriate environment for bacterial survival. This process is subjected to a tight regulation with several checkpoints to allow the progression of the infection or its restriction. The type 3 secretion system (T3SS) is a secretory system that injects proteins, called effectors (T3E), directly into the cytoplasm of the host cell, altering host pathways or suppressing host defense responses. This secretion system is not present in all rhizobia but its role in symbiosis is crucial for some symbiotic associations, showing two possible faces as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: it can be completely necessary for the formation of nodules, or it can block nodulation in different legume species/cultivars. In this review, we compile all the information currently available about the effects of different rhizobial effectors on plant symbiotic phenotypes.     Telerehabilitation after arthroscopic subacromial decompression is effective and not inferior to standard practice: Preliminary results

    Results The preliminary efficacy of this telerehabilitation programme in terms of both physical and functional objective outcome measures was assessed on eight patients. Using the Constant-Murley score to evaluate functional outcome, patients in the telerehabilitation group were shown to have improved from a mean 43.50 ± 3.21 points to a mean 68.50 ± 0.86 points after 12 weeks. The physical and functional improvements in the telerehabilitation group were similar to those in the control group ( p = 0.213). There was a non-significant trend for greater improvements in the telerehabilitation group for most outcome measurements. Conclusion The results of this study provide evidence for the efficacy of telerehabilitation after shoulder arthroscopy in shoulder impingement syndrome. A telerehabilitation programme with range of motion, strengthening of the rotator cuff and scapula stabilizers exercises seems to be similar and not inferior to traditional face-to-face physiotherapy after subacromial arthroscopic decompression. Through this study, we are developing our preliminary dataset to evaluate the efficacy of telerehabilitation programmes following surgical procedures in musculoskeletal injuries and for comparison with more traditional interventions

    STEAM in Primary Education. Impact on Linguistic and Mathematical Competences in a Disadvantaged Context

    This research has studied the impact of the use of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) in education, specifically in the development of linguistic and mathematical skills. The instruments used to extract the learning results were the external evaluation tests carried out by the National Institute of Educational Evaluation INEE over a period of 4 years. The study included 242 third-level primary school students from an educational center in the city of Ceuta (Spain) located in a disadvantaged area. The objectives of the study were to describe the learning results obtained in the respective competencies according to the sex and the migratory history of the students’ parents, to compare the results obtained before and during the use of STEAM and to determine if there is a correlation between the understanding of writing and problem solving. The research method was quantitative descriptive, cross-sectional and correlational. The results of the study showed that the transversal and coordinated use of STEAM improves the learning outcomes of linguistic and mathematical competence of students of the third year of Primary Education, especially speaking, oral comprehension and calculation. The results were, in general, more positive in the case of girls and students whose parents were born in Spain. The study also revealed that there is a positive correlation between reading comprehension and problem solving
