Calidad de vida relacionada con la salud bucal del adulto mayor rehabilitado con prótesis total

Objetivo Analizar la calidad de vida y la salud bucal de los adultos mayores entre 60 y 90 años rehabilitados con prótesis dental total uni o bimaxilar en consulta odontológica en la E.S.E. Hospital Santa Mónica, Dosquebradas-Risaralda en el 2018-1. Metodología Estudio descriptivo transversal con componente analítico. Muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Se hizo revisión de historias clínicas, encuesta sociodemográfica y escala GOHAI. Se realizó análisis univariado con proporciones e intervalos de confianza, bivariado con prueba χ², multivariado con regresión logística múltiple. Resultados La muestra fue de 34 personas con promedio de 69,53 años y DE+/- 7,07; 100% de los encuestados pertenecían al régimen subsidiado, 76% al estrato socioeconómico 1, 50% presentaron prótesis superior, 38,2% bimaxilar, 22,8 % inferior. La media del GOHAI fue de 43,5 puntos, es decir, calidad de vida buena. En la función física 26,5% refirió que sus prótesis siempre les impidieron hablar bien; función psicosocial 26,5% siempre estuvieron insatisfechos con la apariencia de sus dientes o prótesis; según la prueba χ² hubo significancia estadística con valor de p p<0.05 con el nivel de escolaridad, fecha de instalación de la prótesis, quitarse la prótesis para dormir, número de prótesis que ha tenido, sufrir hipertensión arterial, sufrir de enfermedades sistémicas, lesiones en la mucosa oral. Conclusiones Se demuestra que la calidad de vida se ve reducida en aquellos adultos mayores con enfermedad sistémica, barreras de acceso a una rehabilitación oportuna y deficientes prácticas de higiene oral; lo que muestra el predominio de factores sociales susceptibles de ser modificados

Mecanismos de afrontamiento del adulto con cáncer “una propuesta para el autocuidado”

El afrontamiento es una respuesta humana en la que intervienen múltiples factores: biológicos, psicológicos, sociales, emocionales y culturales; esta respuesta humana debe ser comprendida por los cuidadores profesionales, debido a que las situaciones que ameritan cuidado, han sido previamente investigadas, como lo es el afrontamiento en los adultos con cáncer; es de suprema importancia ya que son los profesionales de enfermería, son quienes deben intervenir para que un proceso de afrontamiento sea eficaz, de allí la importancia de la elaboración de esta investigación, ya que describe el proceso y plantea una intervención adecuada, con una base científica sólida. En esta investigación se describen los tipos de afrontamiento de los adultos con cáncer, del hospital San Jorge de la ciudad de Pereira en el primer semestre del año 2008, para diseñar una propuesta de autocuidado tendiente a compensar las demandas adicionales propias e la situación; esta investigación cuenta con un marco teórico basado en el concepto de afrontamiento en psicología, ¿cómo funciona el afrontamiento?, afrontamiento en el cáncer, expectativas del enfermo, respuestas de afrontamiento, afrontamiento ante la muerte, tipos de personalidad y su relación con el cáncer, el cáncer como patología, información estadística, generalidades del auto cuidado, teorizante y sus aportes a la investigación, paradigma de la investigación y para finalizar marco institucional . La metodología utilizada es la cualitativa, en la cual se realizaron 12 entrevistas a pacientes con cualquier tipo de cáncer, del Hospital Universitario San Jorge, de la ciudad de Pereira en el año 2008. Se encontró 12 que los mecanismos de afrontamiento son diferentes en cada persona, de acuerdo a su condición social, familiar, económica, nivel educativo y religión. Para el análisis se utilizó el esquema de supervivencia de Moorey y Greer (1989), ellos plantean dos tipos de afrontamiento uno activo que corresponde a los pacientes que están ubicados en las siguientes categorías: espíritu de lucha, evitación o negación, estos pacientes tienen una respuesta positiva al proceso de la enfermedad; y el afrontamiento pasivo que corresponde a los pacientes que se encuentran ubicados en las siguientes categorías: (fatalismo) o aceptación estóica, preocupación ansiosa y por último impotencia/desesperanza, estos pacientes reaccionan negativamente a la enfermedad. Para finalizar el trabajo y darle continuidad al objetivo de la investigación, se realiza la propuesta para el autocuidado, dirigida a los profesionales de enfermería con el fin de guiar y posibilitar el proceso de afrontamiento de los adultos con cáncer.Coping is a human response involving multiple factors: biological, psychological, social, emotional and cultural; is human response must be understood by professional caregivers, Because the situations that warrant care have previously been investigated, such as coping in adults with cancer; It is supreme importance since they are the nursing professionals, they are who must intervene for a coping process to be effective, hence the importance of the elaboration of this research, since it describes the process and proposes an appropriate intervention, with a scientific basis solid. This research describes the types of coping in adults with cancer, from the San Jorge hospital in the city of Pereira in the first semester of 2008, to design a self-care proposal tending to compensate for the additional demands of the situation; is research has a theoretical framework based on the concept of coping in psychology, how does coping work? coping with cancer, expectations of the patient, responses of coping, coping with death, personality types and their relation to cancer, cancer as pathology, statistical information, generalities of self-care, theorizing and its contributions to research, research paradigm and to finalize the institutional framework. The methodology used is qualitative, in which 12 interviews with patients with any type of cancer, from the Hospital San Jorge University, from the city of Pereira in 2008. It was found 12 that the coping mechanisms are different in each person, according to their social, family, economic condition, educational level and religion. The Moorey and Greer survival scheme was used for the analysis. (1989), they propose two types of coping, one active that corresponds to patients who fall into the following categories: spirit of fight, avoidance, or denial, these patients have a positive response to disease process; and passive coping that corresponds to patients who are located in the following categories: (fatalism) or stoic acceptance, anxious worry and lastly impotence / hopelessness, these patients react negatively to the disease. To finalize the work and give continuity to the objective of the investigation, makes the proposal for self-care, addressed to professionals of nursing in order to guide and enable the process of coping with adults with cancer

The Research Journey as a Challenge Towards New Trends

The academic community of the department of Risaralda, in its permanent interest in evidencing the results of the research processes that are carried out from the Higher Education Institutions and as a product of the VI meeting of researchers of the department of Risaralda held in November 2021 presents its work: “The journey of research as a challenge towards new trends”, which reflects the result of the latest research and advances in different lines of knowledge in Agricultural Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Sciences and Technology and Information Sciences, which seek to solve and meet the demands of the different sectors.
